CK Construction of S Jersey LLC
So happy with our new deck! Chris and crew did a great job removing old cedar deck and installing new trex decking, railing and steps. Would recommend services and use again. Chris was quick to respond for an estimate, competitive pricing, always here when he said he would be, kept us informed as job progressed, cleaned up job site daily and did quality work. He also repaired bifold doors for us.

    Your Neighborhood Handyman LLC
Jerry did a great job. He removed all of the old screened in porch and replaced it with a really high quality new frame and door. I thought the work he did was excellent, efficient, and fairly priced.

    Your Door Specialist LLC
The job went perfectly. The most important thing is that if something was later found not to work as planned, then Jerry would fix it at no charge. Errors and omissions often occur on large jobs, but he took responsibility for those oversights that were part of the scope of the job.

Bryan's Handyman & Home Improvement Service
My daughter asked me to get a recommendation from Angie's List as she was moving from VA to NJ to the house next door to me.  I reviewed different companies and Bryan's Handyman & Home Improvement Service was rated very highly on this site.  Based on those reviews I recommended this company to my daughter.  She wrote the review below as she had the work done.  I was interested in this company and closely watched the work done next door as I had some jobs I was interested in hiring this company for.  I will not be hiring them.
My daughter's review of the work done:
Let me start off by saying that the workmen employed by Bryan Grubb are very professional and capable individuals.  They do good work and always clean up before they leave.  The quality of the work done for me was very good.  However, that being said I will NEVER hire Bryan Grubb for ANY job I have ever again.
I needed three jobs done, a new Bilco basement door, rebuilding a small side porch, and a storm door installed on the back door.  Bryan and his wife came to see the jobs that needed to be done and to take measurements in the beginning of October.  Approximately a week later I received the estimate for the job and was told that I would be put on the schedule once the Bilco door and the custom door arrived.  I paid a deposit and the cost of the storm door which would be custom made.  After emailing Bryan a few times I was told that I would be put on the schedule for November 2-6 and all jobs would be completed at that time.  I have a toddler so I cleared my schedule and made arrangements so that I could be available at this time.
On November 2nd the men arrived and started work on the side porch.  They almost completed the side porch on one day but they told me that they would not be able to finish it until the next day as they did not have enough planking.  They also told me that the Bilco door was slightly too big for the space where it was supposed to be installed but it was alright as they would just use concrete to expand the foundation.  The next day they returned and completed the porch.  I heard work being done on the Bilco door for some time before the men left at 1PM without telling me anything.  When I went to inspect the Bilco door I found that my old wood door was still there but it had been removed and placed back on with a 2 x 4 nailed over it.  When I emailed Bryan asking what was the status of the Bilco door, he called me and told me that the Bilco was the wrong size and would have to be reordered.  He told me that it would take about two weeks for another door to come in but that his men had ?secured? the door so no one could get in.  He also asked me to send him the remaining payment for the side porch as this job was done.  He also added that it would be helpful if I could mail it to him the next day so he could ?make payroll?.  I asked if his men would be back the next day to install the storm door and was informed that they would not be back until Friday, November 5th.  The next day Bryan called me while he was at Home Depot to order the Bilco door and asked me to go downstairs and remeasure the area where the Bilco door would be installed to relay to him while he ordered the door.
On November 5th I did not see any workmen and tried to call Bryan several times and was always put through to voicemail.  I emailed him and finally received an answer.  He informed me that the men would not be coming that day and would it be possible for them to come on Saturday to install the door, that is if one of his men was able to get a babysitter.  I told him that would be fine.  On Saturday the men arrived and started to put the door on but soon stopped.  I was then told that this door was ALSO the wrong size, once again too big for the area, and would ALSO have to be reordered.  The workmen who were there remeasured the door and found that the door was nine inches too big.  After another series of emails to Bryan I was told that the men would return the following weekend to install the new storm door.  On THIS Saturday, November 13th, the installation seemed to go smoothly but after about five hours I was told that there was a problem.  The glass was not fitting correctly and there was a problem with one of the handles.  As this was a new door that the company had never used Bryan had to email the company to find out how to install the glass and to get a replacement handle.
On November 24th, after another long series of emails to Bryan asking when the Bilco door would be delivered, the workmen returned and finished installation of the storm door.  I was told that the intention was to complete the Bilco door at this time as well.  However, the men only completed the storm door.  When I emailed Bryan I was told that they would return early the next morning to complete the Bilco door.  Let me just say that at this point the basement door has been pretty much open for almost one month.  The door we were replacing with the new Bilco door was wood and after being removed and placed back on, it was partially open letting in rain and bugs as well as being a security hazard.  The door was finally installed on November 25th.  Once again the work crew who was on site was very professional and installed everything properly.
While I had my jobs completed and while the quality of the work was good, I would never hire Byran Grubb again.  He is very difficult to get in touch with, he never apologized or offered to make amends for the difficulties encountered during the job, the issues that came up were due to incorrect measurements that were taken during the initial visit, and I had to constantly stay on top of him in order to find out anything that was going on.  He would never notify me when schedule changes happened, never let me know when to expect his men to arrive, never let me know when my payments were received even though I asked him to, and never let me know when any of the doors were delivered unless I sent him several email messages.  Three jobs that I was told would take one week took almost one month to complete.  I do understand that issues arise during construction but the fact that the issues that came up were purely workman error and bad measurements was extremely frustrating.  Overall this was a very poor experience and one I hope never to repeat.

Update.  March 10, 2016....major problems.  The porch floor were coming undone.  The pillar was rotted and they put it back instead of replacing.  They did not put any flashing around the back door allowing it to leak like Niagara Falls.  When I called I got not answer.  When I emailed I got one not very professional answer.  And no date to come and repair.  I have had to hire another company to repair this work.  I will NEVER hire them again and I recommend that you not hire them.

Jack of All Trades Handyman Services LLC
I had received an estimate from Jack and given him the go ahead to do the work. About 2 weeks before Memorial Day, he said he would begin the job the following week and be done by Memorial Day. When Memorial Day was just a few days away and I had not heard anything from him, I contacted him. He said another job was taking longer than he expected, but he would have my job done by June 1st. Again, a few days before June 1st, I tried to contact him again because I had not heard anything from him. I left him a number of phone messages, but I have not heard back from him.

    Need A Handyman Service, LLC
Using Angie's list I reached out to three highly rated contractors. I presented all three contractors with equivalent requests. She looked at three contractors contacted me and provided quotes. Need a Handyman came in with the best price and after talking to Bill I felt comfortable with his work and timetable. The original conversations took place in mid-July and the material was selected and a deposit of approximately $3000 was provided for Bill to purchase the material. We scheduled the installation date for mid August.
Bill brought samples of the Azak decking material to our home and we were able to select the appropriate colors from panels so that it would match our house. Bill informed us that he had a flat rate for his labor and that any savings he was able to obtain on the purchase of the materials would be passed along to us. Bill is a man of his word! After Bill contacted the local distributor he provided me with a delivery date. The material was delivered on Thursday, August 22, 2013. I notified Bill of the delivery, and his team of two arrived on Friday at 8 AM sharp. They began taking apart the old pressure-treated deck and per the instructions from my Township, bundled them with string that I provided and placed the bundles by the curb for trash collection.
On Saturday again at 8 AM sharp Bob and Jim arrived and completed the demolition of the deck all away down to the main support beams and trusses which were still in good shape. They fixed a few areas that the original builder took shortcuts on. And installed 4 of the Azak deck boards. Then on Monday morning, again at 8 AM, Bob and Jim arrived on site and began installing the remaining decking material. By the time I arrived home from work on Monday, the entire main deck was installed in several of the 4 x 4 pressure-treated railing timbers were in place but not fully installed. I was informed they would be back again on Tuesday morning at 8 AM to complete the job and bring with them the vinyl railings which they were leaving to pick up that night.
True to their word they arrived again right around 8 AM on Tuesday. Before I came home for lunch the job was done. It looks spectacular. All of the old lumber was tied and bundled in 4 foot lengths and placed by my curb, the deck was clean and my solar lights were in place. They even took time to arrange my deck chairs which I have moved to one side to provide an ample working space.
A few days later Bill contacted us to finish payment of the bill. Exactly as Bill had stated, his installation charge remained at the $2200 and we paid simply for the material. Which at the end of the job actually came in about $600 less than we were quoted. What a pleasant surprise when we realized that the savings was actually being passed on to us. In addition to this, Bill's team also installed a small pet door in our basement door. This was a freebie!
Needless to say we have already reached out to Bill, "Need a Handyman", to provide additional renovations to our property. I am really looking forward to working with Bill and his team. It was pleasant to actually find a contractor who was professional, courteous, punctual, and most of all honest. Would I recommend him, absolutely! ? Gary

    Joe Doran Custom Carpentry
A handyman that was working for us referred us him.  He replaced our master bathroom.  He told us he does kitchens as well.  Right now we are waiting for a permit from the township; he is going to do a porch for us.  I am looking forward to it.

    A H Hammer LLC
I appreciated his experience, he was very helpful in the design of the spaces.  He had great ideas and took the time to talk them through with me.  Tom was especially good at finding ways to do a good quality job without overspending.  He is honest, hard-working and did an excellent job on everything he did for me.  I would highly recommend him and I will gladly hire him again in the future.

    BLAKELY RESTORATIONS
It did not go well at all. I ended up dropping them as a company before projects were completed. Our agreement was based on time and materials, and the materials that were purchased even though I was buying them were very poor quality. The contractor damaged one of the rails to the deck but installed it anyway and glued the broken part. The finishing was not done evenly and spots were missed. The front porch post were not reset correctly and I needed to insist that he reset them. They were messy in general the whole time they were here. Time was never detailed out when it came to the work and I was paying for two people and one of them was the owner and he was missing for large sections of time so I am not sure why I was charged for both of them. He charged for use of his equipment, too.
