  • Back in 2012 when I was selling my old house in Lake Hiawatha, there were major issues with the foundation that had to be fixed before the sale could be completed. Through a recommendation of my realtor, I met John MacDougall who owned JMC Home Improvement. John and his staff at JMC did an amazing job back then and because of their excellent work the house was sold. When my wife and I decided this year it was time for renovations to our current 1963 Lake Parsippany home kitchen and bathroom, she agreed that we should work w/ John and his staff at JMC because of my great experience with them in the past. We felt we could trust him to give us a fair estimate for a quality renovation. Now that the renovations are completed, we couldn’t be happier with the results. John initially came to our home and listen to our thoughts on what we wanted to do, providing suggestions along the way. After the initial meeting, we met with his amazing designer Tammy at their office in Lake Parsippany. Tammy worked with my wife and I to pick out all the cabinets, countertops, tile and paint colors that would create the kitchen and bathroom we were looking for. Debbie, the office manager at JMC, kept in contact with us during the entire project to make sure we were kept informed of the projects progress. Once work began, his project manager Jack and his entire crew worked hard over the course of about 6 weeks to get everything done for us on time and for the estimate he gave us. Along the way the crew were truly professional, and took the time to answer all our questions that arose during the project. They always called before coming, and when they left things were always cleaned up and tucked away. I’ve had in the past at my old house a kitchen renovation done by one of the big stores, and I truly can say that work cannot compare to the quality of work that John and JMC provided us at our current home. We now have the amazing kitchen and bathroom we wanted. We plan to work with John again in the near future on further projects to enhance our home. Thanks again to John, Jack, Tammy, Debbie and his entire staff.

  • From the first visit to the last day of installation we were completely satisfied with the expertise and service that Mark Lindsay and his team provided. Phone calls were always answered promptly. The representative who evaluated our needs took the time necessary to understand our needs and explained his recommendations clearly and completely. The installers were meticulous. We were very satisfied with our choice!

  • The transformation is incredible, they demolished an entire 1/2 bath, moved the washer and dryer into another room with hooking them all up to new plumbing, put all new wood tiles in, full bath rub with wall to wall tile, new over sized vanity with granite counter tops, built custom shelves, used existing features to enhance the over all project. Ryan is the best and he will not leave or finish until every one is happy including the family dog !

  • Massimo was great. We initially called another company to come out, however, they were unable to fix the problem and went straight to a more expensive service, which I agreed to pay, however, they never showed up. I was lucky enough to get Massimo from Angie's List and after a thorough phone call, he agreed to come by. When Massimo arrived, he was able to clear the clog and get a camera inside. To my surprise, the clogs were just a symptom to a larger issue, which is a separated pipe. We will have him come back to do the repairs.

  • It went as poorly as any renovation can go. All of the subs had issues. The plumbers turned water on without closing lines causing flood damage. Cabinets were not ordered, ordered incorrectly, and there were other problems. Electrical inspection initially failed due to poor quality of work. Contractor walked off the job due to me citing issues they needed to fix per code but they did not want to fix. Responses to questions took weeks or months instead of days after signing contract. Went through multiple project managers as part of project. It was so bad, I should have done this myself instead of hiring them.

  • A+ all the way: initial consultation, installation, equipment quality, fair price, everything. Got quotes from NMP and Bergen Passaic. Same exact price and basically identical equipment. Both were friendly, no high pressure sales gimmicks, didn't rush and didn't waste my time dragging it out or trying to close the sale. Gave me the info, price, brochures, and said call if I had any questions or wanted to proceed. Basically Coke/Pepsi competitors. Ultimately went with NMP though for two reasons and am glad I did: First, the other company was going to pipe the discharge from the water softener to the basement sump pump that our washing machine drains to, and convinced me it was fine. I would have hired them on the spot but already scheduled a quote from NMP and figured it couldn't hurt to hear from them. NMP said they would definitely NOT recommend having the water softener drain into a sump pump, because the volume of discharge is significant and all the brine can shorten the life of the pump or overwhelm it (ie. flood our basement). Regardless, some day the sump pump will fail (everything breaks eventually) and then when the softener regenerates, it will flood our basement with brine. They said they'd do the extra work to connect everything to the main drain of the house and it was all the same price anyway so we went with NMP. We got a new, larger capacity washing machine around the same time, and after the water softener was installed (but completely separated from the sump pump) our sump pump actually did fail (had nothing to do with NMP or the water softener, just coincidence). If we had let either company pipe the water softener to the sump pump, because of the timing, I would have been sure the water softener was to blame, even though it wasn't, and I would have given them ****. NMP had insisted on doing it right and so when our sump pump failed, the water softener drained into the main drain and out to the street, bypassing the sump pump completely. The RO system is great. Tons of stuff in public water potentially (Flint Michigan, the chemical from the movie Erin Brochovich has been found in parts of Bergen County NJ, lead pipes in our old house, etc.) and we just felt safer having the RO. The second reason we went with NMP instead of the other company was my wife did not want a stupid ugly plastic thing added to our kitchen sink, and didn't want a big tank and filters under the sink taking up storage. She was opposed to getting the RO for that reason. NMP said no problem. They can put the tank and filters in the basement (not under the sink) and just ran the little hose all the way to the kitchen, and the spigot is very high quality and has a shape and finish that matches our exiting faucet. I have never been a water snob; it all tastes the same to me, but the safety of extra filtration was worth it for me and since they were doing the water softener we figured let's just do it all. I didn't really taste a difference at first (at least not enough to pay for it). Several months later though, I've gotten used to the better, cleaner taste and when I drank regular tap water it tasted awful. $2,895 is not a small amount of money, but it's high quality equipment (no issues after several months), professional service, the time of two skilled plumbers, and it should lengthen the life of our appliances and has cut down on the hard water stain build-up we were having. I think it was definitely worth it and wouldn't go back, and strongly recommend NMP.

  • When I originally purchased the deal, I gave the 3 dates that were optimal for me for him to come perform services. I also gave him 2 phone numbers and 2 email addresses. I didn't hear anything from him. I called 5 days later to get a hold of him. Whoever answered the phone seemed pretty lackadaisical about the situation and assured me that someone would be at my house first thing the next day. No one ever showed. I called again and left voicemails with no response. Now, 9 days later, I'm not going to mess with it anymore. I requested a refund from Angie's List.

  • I received estimates from about 5 water softener companies. I did a lot of research in advance and Prestige water appeared to offer the best value for the price. I hired them and definitely made the best decision. It was immediately clear that the Leo, the technician was very knowlegeable, skilled, and extremely customer focused. My whole family quickly felt the difference in our water and couldn't be more satisfied. I was also remodeling my basement at the time, and needed some plumbing work on my baseboard heating, and again Leo came through with exceptional service. Would definitely recommend and hire them again!

  • Service was great. We called after 9pm and got an answering service that advised she would forward our request to the emergency tech. The tech called and we explained the issue. He asked if we would like him to come out now. We were fine until the morning, so we told him he could wait. He promised a call back from the office in the morning. As promised, we received a call around 8 am to schedule. Our technican was here around 10:15am. He was able to clear our clog and kept everything nice and clean. This isn't the first time its happened to us, so we asked if they provide camera inspections, which they do, so we scheduled someone to come back out tomorrow to inspect the main. Overall we were very satisfied with the service we received and have already scheduled them for more work.

  • Mostly everything went well until all was complete. I know that the compression valve costs about $12.00 and the hose $6.00 totaling $18.00. It took the installer approx. 15 minutes to replace the valve. I asked him how much I owed him for the additional work and he told $150.00. I was upset with that quote and felt it was way out of line. I just had another of my bathrooms renovated and the contractor replaced 3 of the same type valves and charged me $100.00. I felt that Ibrahim was trying to take advantage. I refused to pay what he wanted. I settled with him for $60.00 for the valve (installed) and the hose.
