Roofing reviews in Park Ridge

Gargas Roofing installed our roof in November of 2015. They applied for the construction permit from my town, they installed the roof, we paid them the same day. Gargas was not easy to reach by phone or email, typically taking 2 or 3 days for a call back. The price and job were both good. Communications and professionalism were not good at all. June of 2017, 1-1/2 years later, my town called and said to pay the $215 permit fee or be hit with a $2000 fine. Gargas never picked up the permit nor paid for it. No one has been able reach anyone at Gargas Roofing for months. A complaint report with BBB-NJ has been filed against Gargas Roofing.

I have been dealing with this problem on and off for about 15 years.  When it first started, I hired masons who dug out the front area where we located the crack in my poured concrete foundation.  Not being waterproofing specialists, they only tarred the area and put black plastic.  What is worse, is that they did not dig all the way down to the footing, leaving a gap that eventually allowed water to seep in when there were heavy rains or when the ground was saturated from melting snow.

I interviewed 3 other companies to attempt to finally fix the problem.  Jeff from American A-1 Waterproofing was the only one who wanted to fix the problem from the source which was the crack in the foundation.  So first, his worker Gibson came and removed sheetrock to expose the cracked wall from the inside.  He was professional and very neat.  Then Jeff came a few days later and we placed running water outside and within minutes we saw water coming through the inside wall from the previously repaired area. (The others were not interested in the old crack; they just wanted to sell me French drains.)

I cannot say enough good things about their workers, Loubeth and Raphael.  They dug out a large area taking care not to harm plantings or sprinkler heads.  They worked long and hard to expose the footing and fix the problem right.   They were professional, and went the extra mile to seal minor cracks that were in other areas.  When they were done, they refilled the area and left it as if nothing was touched.

Two days after the job was completed, it rained all day and there was a hard down pour at night.  I checked my basement and to my amazement it is DRY.  No puddles, no seepage from hairline cracks...DRY!  I am so satisfied with American A-1, and would recommend this company if you are having water problems in your home.

Very responsive with the initial inquiry/quote, scheduled the work in short order, arrived on time and finished everything in about 6 hrs (I expected 1 1/2 days).  No problems occurred during the work and thus far it appears to have been successful.  Very pleased with all aspects; particularly the way they take the time to explain everything to you ahead of time.
I've used their services several times for assorted roof leaks over the last few years (work poorly done by others many years ago) and intend to have them replace a quadrant of the roof in the coming months.
I'd highly recommend these people for any roofing or painting projects; you may find a lower price elsewhere but you are not likely to get the same quality of service.  A pleasure to deal with.

On two different occasions requested estimates for replacing part of the gutters.  On the first occasion which occurred approximately 1-1/2 years prior to the latter we requested an estimate for replacing part of our gutters.  The office person was very courteous and helpful, and scheduled an appointment, but Mr  Gargas cancelled and never called; I was told later on that our job was "too small".  On 2013 I called for replacing all gutters, and Mr Gargas's was the third quote we sought.  He came and gave us an estimate - one total amount was written on the back of his business card.  His estimate, by the way, was the highest of all three estimates.  While at our home I mentioned that our priority was mainly one part of the gutters where we were having problems - he said that it would not be a problem.  I called his office and after a couple of calls spoke with him.  He asked that I estimate the linear feet of the area to be replaced, and called his office back to give them the linear feet.  They never called - no response from Mr Gargas or his office.

Darren was able to identify exactly why our roof was leaking. He is professional and takes the time to explain what is wrong. They were sub contracted by another business to install our new gutters. We were happy with that work, so we called when we had the leak. Most recently, he was quite helpful to explain ice dams and what we can do to prevent them.

The smell of the roof was horrible.  And lasted a long time.  They were not careful the way they dragged the hoses they used and they killed some of the flowers in front of my house.
The roof did look good when they were done.

Came for estimate. Described in detail in writing what needed to be done. Came back again to discuss colors, some additional work that was needed relative to the chimneys. I compared with other roofers and felt most comfortable with Robert, the owner. His crew came on time, were very courteous, professional and thorough. The roof turned out excellent. They even replace the roof on my mailbox to match the new roof on the house.

Very professional team of 2. There was absolutely no debris left . The roof looks beautiful. They were not the cheapest but were very competitive. They are extremely professional, of the highest quality and clean up really well .

Carlson Bros came very quickly to do an estimate.  I was very impressed by the fact that he didn't recommend more work than actually necessary to achieve the desired results.  His manner was very straightforward and down to earth -- not salesman-like.  Also liked that he was going to be the person to perform the work, rather than being merely a salesman for a large company.
After agreeing a price and providing a written estimate, he came to do the work.  He worked very quickly with one other person, completing the job in approx. 1 hr, which I thought was very good.  He used a high quality fan replacement, which I also appreciated.  He completed the work efficiently and left the place clean and neat.
Overall, a very pleasant experience, and I would feel comfortable recommending him without reservations, and would certainly hire him again for future roofing needs.

They did an excellent job and came in at a very good price. I liked that they were readily available to answer all questions and they explained everything very well. They did the work in the time that they said they would and it was done impeccably well.
