The work was completed according to the contract & deck was built exactly according to plan. The workers were punctual, professional, courteous & very skilled. Debris was removed daily from the work site. We were very happy with the completed deck. It was a pleasure working with the owner of this company & we highly recommended him.

I was initially impressed with the work that was done. The issue is that after 2 1/2 years stress cracks started to occur. I informed them in March 2016 that I was seeing stress cracks in my driveway when I scheduled the driveway to be sealed. The technician that came to seal the driveway in April 206 looked at the cracks and said they were too small to do anything about it. The cracks continued to grow. I attempted to contact them via phone on August 24, 2016 and did not hear back from them. I gave them a few days to respond before sending a follow up email with pics of the cracks on August 29, 2016. Again, I have had no response from them. At this point, I would not recommend North Jersey Bomanite to perform any concrete work. I paid almost $15,000 for a concrete driveway since I felt it was an investment that would last for years and add value to my house. Now I have stress cracks which tells me that this is a workmanship problem. The worst part is that this comp[any does not even have the courtesy to respond to my phone call or emails. I would avoid this company like the plague. I could have replaced my asphalt driveway multiple times for the price of this stamped concrete driveway. I have attached pics of the stress cracks. I am currently looking into what legal action options are available.

All American Driveways Paving & Concrete
Pros:  Jim showed up both times right on time and brought measuring equipment with him.  He's very knowledgeable.  I like the list of addresses referencing his work & the insurance COI he provided.  Insurance capacity looked good and included the necessary workmen's comp & auto liability.   That's a start.
SCOPE & PRICE: I have a 40' long driveway + apron which is 18' wide near the garage which funnels down to 12' wide at the entrance, apron & curb cut.  The existing asphalt driveway is raised and cracked in many parts caused by roots of nearby trees.   I wanted to widen the driveway overall to 20' x 40' with asphalt, pour new lower concrete sidewalk slabs for a better pitch & pour new concrete apron & curb cut.  Finished driveway would be plain asphalt, NO perks like Belgian pavers or any specialty items.
The original quote I received was for simply removing and replacing the asphalt driveway as-is.   That quote was 2-3 X more expensive than other competitive quotes.  However, the quote had nothing to do with the my project scope.
I called Jim back in the fall with permits now in-hand to re-evaluate his numbers and to price my actual scope.   While Jim's a nice guy, he clearly didn't want to be hassled with my job.  His quote jumped to almost $10,000 but he didn't want to be hassled with DPW inspections for curb cut, removal of dirt etc.   His quote was at almost $10,000 and he's asking where on my property can he dump the excavated dirt.
Guess I'll keep looking.   Wish some of these AL reviewers would post some pictures of the work.

    Boyd Paving
Update 11/11/15.  I've decided to update my review score & write-up for several reasons.  1) A grade of 'F' may have been too harsh since no work was performed to evaluate quality.  2) I've re-written some potential issues which Owner can respond to for the sake of other potential customers to evaluate.  NOTE: I never received an explanation or apology for what took place but did receive a total of (4) calls from owner's wife and numerous threats via phone & voicemail of intent to sue me for the bad review.

Main issue: After speaking multiple times, Eugene Boyd was supposed to leave a contract for my review to potentially expand my driveway.  Our last conversation confirmed scope, required inspections & responsibility for the base layer beneath the asphalt (most important part - recommend 6" for cars, up to 8" for trucks). Eugene said he wanted my business asap but never returned calls to his business or cell phone for 2-weeks.  When I finally managed to get him on the same cell phone he called me from, he lied about who he was & that he didn't know Boyd Paving.  This bothered me, very much so.   I don't like being lied to, but more importantly, in my mind it re-confirmed my suspicions of whether or not I'd be able to track Boyd down should I have any issues with my driveway.  Decide for yourself.

Recommendations to Owner for future business practices:
    1) Confirm which phones & cell phones your business utilizes

    2) Confirm what address your business operates from since multiple are listed.  Your NJ HIC license lists "Eugene Boyd Paving" company operating out of residential unit in Fair Lawn.  Angies List, Facebook & Website list "Boyd Paving" operating out of a commercial building in Ridgefield.  An additional HIC license application was started but not completed for "Boyd Paving" operating out of Hackensack.   Numerous phone numbers are listed but no one ever answers the phones which are forwarded to an answering service for screening.

    3) If you must forward calls, forward them to your cell phones & provide a voicemail indicating who you are.

    4) Confirm what your standard warranty covers

    5) Increase your insurance coverage & issue certified Accord COIs.  $500,000 is not enough for handling heavy equipment.  Include workmens comp policy & automobile policy since both are required to complete a job.

    6) Confirm if you use staff covered by your insurance or subcontractors.   Do they have insurance?

    7) Confirm what your typical payment terms are & who checks are made out to

    8) Add some type of identifying information to your website, Facebook page etc.  Pictures of staff, previous projects, something that makes customers feel confident that this company can't disappear overnight.  Bad driveway jobs don't usually show for a couple of years.

Any contractor that wouldn't' comply with these basic legal business principles is not a contractor I want at my house, no matter how inexpensive the quote.

    Mosca Construction
Tom came on time to give me an estimate for the job. When the job was started, they came early every day to work. All the men were friendly and worked professionally all day.  The measurements were rechecked before any of the work was done. When the concrete was poured, they cleaned up the whole area and at the end of each day, it was cleaned up. The weather was very hot but it did not affect their work. Have already recommended them to friends.

    A Lepore & Grandson
After having two other companies come to our home, my husband and I called Jim Van Resalier, the owner of A Lepore & Grandson.  He came within a few days and explained how he would replace our old basement door with a new Bilco door.  Since we always learn as much as we can regarding the proper way to accomplish a job being done on our home, we felt confident that Jim's method was the best.  He told us that he had another job to complete and would call us when he could begin.  We did have to call him back and wait for his services, but we were very glad we did.  He came to our home with two other workers and did a beautiful, neat job.  The new Bilco basement door is on a repaired solid, even concrete foundation.  We are very pleased.  It took two days to complete.

    Magnolia Home Remodeling Group
Not only did one of the owners spend as much time as needed to discuss what would be done, he was always available whenever I had questions during the time it was being done.   I could call him on the phone or send him an email and he would answer immediately each time.  All of the workmen were exceptional! They were polite, very hard working, considerate of my property, cleaned up at the end of each day, accommodating and very worthy of my high praise! I have nothing but raves about reach and every one I had contact with and would highly recommend them to everyone who requires work done on their house.  The owner made promises and kept every single one of them. I was even given "before and after" pictures to remind me of all the work I had done by them, If I decide to maker any more improvements to my house, you can be sure that they will be my first and only choice to do the job.

    Garden State Curbs & Sidewalks
Exceptional and professional from the moment of our estimate to the completion of job. Sal completed this job in 3 - 4 days, always a smile on his face even with the heat of the day. We were shocked to come home from work and see how much he completed on the very first day. We were again amazed that there wasn't a stone or piece of asphalt left behind, they cleared everything away. Our arrival home on the 3rd day from work our sidewalk and patio had been poured again nothing left behind and kept our flower bed in tact. Our side walk and patio look beautiful, we can't wait to entertain. Garden State is outstanding, we have now decided to forgo our asphalt driveway next year and have Sal put in a new concrete driveway.
Would we use Garden State again? without hesitation a definite YES!

    Lovell Contracting
Saw the great reviews and was excited to have Bernie Lovell (Owner) come over and give me an estimate. Guess the good reviews have went to his head. Came over and seemed like an ok guy. Gave a decent estimate and had some good ideas on what to do with the cement work. We agreed on a price and right away wanted half the money, he said he needed it for payroll, I said "ok" (First red flag). Gave him half the money, but I felt a bit uneasy about it, he seemed desperate to get it.
He came in a week or so to do the work, he arrived early, it was Bernie and 2 other workers. There seemed to be a bit of arguing back and forth between him and one of the other workers. A few times I asked one of the other guys a question about the work, but the guy seemed a bit rude and didn't want to be bothered with me. Ok. (more red flags). While they were working, I noticed a car pulling up to my house and some guy running up in my yard, Bernie had some guy stop by my house while they were working to pay him money, "what the heck".
Well they had worked for several hours and Bernie knocked on my door and said the other 2 guys would be finishing up in about an hour or 2 and he asked for the rest of the money. Foolishly I gave it to him. After everyone was gone I went outside to take a look at the job and I noticed there was still unfinished work. I gave Bernie a call and told him that the cement on the wall wasn't done and the pouring of the cement on the blocks was not done either. He told me "not to worry about it", "he will be there next week to finish the job". This was in June. After several weeks I left a message when he was returning to finish the job, never heard back. Waited a few more weeks called, left messages, no return call. Left a few email messages, nothing, never heard from him again.
I went to and typed in "Lovell Contracting BBB" and to my surprise his company was listed on there with an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau and one complaint pending which was not from me.
Despite the glaring reviews, I would not recommend this company, I really felt ripped off.
