  • Julie, one of their landscaping professionals, initially came out and did a walk around with me. She was very knowledgeable, and gave me a quote of $45 a week for lawn maintenance. Although it was $10 more than my previous landscaper, I was willing to accept the price since they seemed very professional. I was looking for a landscaping company that paid attention to detail, and it seemed this was one of them. When I received the contract, the price for weekly maintenance was listed as $50 a week. I contacted her via email, and she said she was unable to honor the price she quoted because the "system" would not allow it. Although this left a bad taste in my mouth, I still decided to go with R&S, hoping their landscaping work was worth it. The first week they came out, I was introduced to a foreman, who explained the work they will be doing from week to week. The foreman stated he would be on the job from this point forward so that he can become familiar with the property. I remember thinking this was great, since most companies don't care, and just cut the lawn and move on. So the first month, the landscaping crew did a great job. However, about a month in, I noticed a new crew was coming, and I never saw the foreman again. The new crew told me the foreman I originally had was fired. Regardless, I figured the new crew would do just as good a job, but boy was I wrong. Over the course of the summer, I would see patches of my lawn torn up, and not small patches. One of those patches that was completely ripped up was approximately 3 feet by 3 feet in size. I emailed Julie about the lawn, and she informed me that she would address the issue. However, only two weeks later, the same crew did it again. Then in July of 2017, R&S came to prune the shrubs around the property. I had this beautiful Hemlock on my property that was a staple of the landscape for over 25 years (see picture attached, before and after). The shrub pruners that R&S sent stated they were only going to “trim” the shrubs. I walked around the property with them as they informed me what they were going to do. So I left for work, trusting they would follow through with what they said. However, when I returned, I saw that my Hemlock was completely cut 1/3 of the way up, like a lollipop. I don’t know what gave them the idea to do this, but my Hemlock will never grow back. The owner of the company, Bob, came out and apologized, but was reluctant to even discount the pruning, as if their mistake should still be billed accordingly. Now in November and December 2017, R&S stated they would be coming every other week for leaf removal and clean up. At the end of October, some leaves were already falling and I observed one of the workers blowing the leaves into a corner of a flowerbed at the rear of my property, rather than picking them up. When I confronted him about this, he stated the company told them to do so, since leaf cleaning doesn’t start until November. As he could see, I wasn’t happy. He then apologized and blew them back onto the lawn and picked them up. Once November and December came, R&S NEVER came every two weeks to pick up leaves. Many times it was at least 3-4 weeks, and my property was the only one on the block covered with leaves for the holidays, and eventually covered in snow as well. R&S also adds in a leaf removal fee, along with their weekly maintenance, which they DO NOT do in November and December. My grass has wilted for the winter, longer than it was during the summer. I am still being charged a “late fee” for a bill that was never sent with the proper readjustments that I was told. R&S Landscaping’s automated billing system continues to bill me a $3.80 late fee incorrectly. Anyone who wants to hire a landscaping company that does not keep their word, overcharges, and destroys your lawn and shrubs; this is the company for you. Otherwise I strongly recommend you stay away!

    to mention the removal of several dead trees lost during last year's
    winter.  Almost Perfect Landscaping's owner, Frank, was just fantastic. 
    He called me back the same day and had the work done in one day.  It
    was just an amazing transformation.  Frank's crew is professional and
    hard working men and I would highly recommend Almost Landscaping for any
    of your needs.

  • We hired Frank Porter at Almost Perfect to do the following work:  re-grade an unsafe section of our back yard, which was torn up after we had 7 large trees removed, tear up a cement path, and install and underground drainage pipe.  To say Frank Porter and Almost Perfect went above and beyond would be an understatement.  Not only did they do an incredible job on the work discussed, they did an incredible job on work we didn?t even expect them to do. 
    We discussed re-grading only areas absolutely necessary for safety, this meant about half of the back yard.  There were other areas that were not cosmetically appealing, but in the estimate, to keep the cost down, we decided to hold off on the cosmetic areas.  In the end, the guys did all areas that needed attention, about 90% of the backyard (the remaining 10% didn?t have any safety or cosmetic issues so didn?t need to be done) and a portion of the front yard.  We were shocked and thrilled to see how above and beyond they went.  The yard looks incredible. 
    Re-grading a yard requires some ancillary work, we didn?t give much thought to this work since we didn?t think we?d really notice it.  For instance, we knew they would mow the areas that were being re-graded, but they mowed the entire lawn, front and
    back, and finished it off with edging (we live on a corner lot, lots of edging!) and leaf removal over the entire lawn.  We knew they would trim part of a large shrub in the back yard because it was shading some of the new seed, and they trimmed the entire thing ? it took almost 2 hours, it would have only taken a half hour to do the necessary area.  Our yard has never looked better!
    We had an underground drainage pipe installed.  In the original estimate we were only going to do one and hold off on a second pipe that needed to be done until next year.  When the guys finished the first pipe, they had materials on site to do the second, so they offered to do it at a moderate cost, and we happily agreed (especially after seeing the excellent job they did on the first one).
    Last, but certainly not least, we wanted to put in two trees to memorialize loved ones lost this year.  Frank told us to pick out whichever trees we wanted (he offered some suggestions of trees that would serve as beautiful memorials), he then gave them to us at his wholesale cost, and really went above an beyond when he installed them for free.  His guys made a special trip to the nursery to pick out the trees we had chosen, and then to our house (on a separate day from when they did the rest of the work) to
    install our trees, which took two guys a over two hours  ? two hours that we were not charged for, and with the material given to us at cost, this was obviously not a profit driven job at all.  We did not think we?d be able to afford this memorial for a few years, we are so grateful that Frank and Almost Perfect made it possible.  It means so much to us and has already brought us much comfort. 
    We can honestly say that we highly recommend Almost Perfect, we are thrilled with their work.  Our yard has never looked better.  We will definitely be using them for all of our future landscaping needs.  Thanks Frank!

  • Ted Winters is UNPROFESSIONAL, a POOR COMMUNICATOR, UNRESPONSIVE and DID NOT FOLLOW THROUGH on completing the project as discussed.   The weekly mowing was decent but I asked him to plant a tree and remove a shrub 4 months ago.  I called several times to follow up and he kept saying he'd visit the nursery, that he would text me photos of different tress (i never got any texts or pictures from him), or that he was working on it.  Finally the 4th time that I called him to follow up on the status of the tree, he said he wouldn't plant the particular tree that I requested.  Well that was 4 months after we discussed he would do it.  He never even bothered to call me to tell me that he wasn't going to do it.  It required me to call him to find out.  Then, he said he could do a different tree and that he would come the following week.  Well he never showed up.  After waiting AGAIN, I called him and he gave no apology and not even an excuse.  When I asked why he didn't show up, he simply said he just didn't show up.  When I said things the business relationship was not working out, he agreed.  Obviously, he also LACKS CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS and does not care about our business. 
    Furthermore, since having hired him we have called him and left voice messages and emails to the contact information he has on his website and on the proposal form he gave us.  But each time we followed up after not getting a response, he said he did not receive our messages.  I find that to be absolutely absurd.  At best, he's a poor business man who doesn't know how to use email and voicemail, and at the worst he's just a liar and incompetent at his job.  At any point during the past 4 months that I spoke with him about the project he should have let me know if he couldn't or wasn't going to plant the tree rather than wasting my time. 
    He has a nice website, but don't be fooled by it.  If my experience is any indication of how he treats his customers with a lack of respect and courtesy and with pure apathy, then I am embarrassed for him.  It's rather shameful, really.

  • I called 10 days ago to request for someone to come to my home and provide an estimate for weekly lawn care and maintenance.  I was told that they were extremely busy and that no one would be available to come the following day (as I requested) but that someone would give me a call by the next day to schedule an appointment.  That was 10 days ago.  I had other landscaping companies come and give me estimates, and obviously did not bother following up with this company that could not even do me the basic professional courtesy of calling me like they said they would.  I initially contacted this company because they received the most reviews, and mostly positive ones.  But perhaps they are so busy that they do not need my business.

  • I think the owner is very responsive. The only complaint I have is that they tend to rush through their work. In their speed to clean up, they have damaged plants. Overall, their jobs turn out very well.
  • Estimates Only good Estimates Only good Of all the vendors on this list this owner Cutting Edge called me back right away. A couple of vendors indicated they didn't want to do my town or were full up with customers for the 2010. season. One vendor said he would drop off a quote and never showed. Cutting Edge was very professional and the most responsive. I would recommend them as the best on Angie's list
