AModern FenceMike from Modern fence was phenomenal. We had 3 total estimates before we installed our fence. The estimate from Modern fence was by far the best estimate. We needed about 300' of fencing for our backyard. Mike came out and promptly gave and estimate and detailed exactly what work would need to be done to prepare the backyard for the fence installation. After we had the landscapers come and clear the brush in our backyard, I asked Mike to come back again to check and make sure it was up to par and he had no problem stopping by....he is a really great guy and super helpful. We also had LED lights installed in our fence caps that we are really pleased with.....our total cost for everything including the lights was just under $14,000. AWe were 2 months into the pandemic and my office had been closed for just as long, so I was spending a ridiculous amount of time in my garden. In order to get out there, I had to open a badly rusted and partially broken basement hatch door, by mid-April I had had enough and made the decision to have it replaced. I did my google search and came up with a few options in my area of Queens, but the minute I spoke to “M” at KK&M Ironworks, I knew that I had found the right company. After explaining what I needed, she couldn’t have been more helpful, informative and proactive. The very next day she sent someone to look at the existing door, take measurements and give me an estimate. Upon my approval, I believe they called me within 2 weeks to say they were coming to install the new door and two of the nicest men showed up and set to work. Apparently, it was a struggle to get the new door into the basement and after they dismantled my existing hatch door, the cement work waiting for them to install the new door was much more extensive than they originally thought. I did not know any of this as the work progressed, the workers were just diligently doing their job, they did not complain and I was not told that due to these issues, my price was going to go up, I only heard about it later as “M” and I were casually talking and I was truly grateful that it was not seen as a “big deal” by her or the workers. Needless to say, I AM THRILLED with my new hatch door. I spent an additional 2 months at home and getting to the garden was a breeze, the ease with which this hatch door works and the joy it brings me is indescribable, but I hope I somehow conveyed the message, HIRE KK&M IRONWORKS IF YOU WANT AMAZING RESULTS!!

Cwell ,the contractor just mentioned material and did a drawing and price. Did not describe what is he going to do in specific, did not write labor and material included,did not write debris removal. Etc. When I asked him for the estimate the second time came with the same estimate without description Refused to put it in writing, He took the paper estimate with him and left. Well Sorry. FJayce fencing and the manager in charge Junior is the most unprofessional company I’ve ever worked with. Didn’t show up on scheduled day and I had to call and text to find out what’s going on. After day 2, day 3 they just didn’t show up until I called to ask where are the guys, then they showed up in the afternoon. That’s hardly my issue. The real issue is the height of the fence from the ground. Prior to installing the panels they asked how high I wanted the panels from the ground, I told them 4 inches. They started with the 4 inches but then in the middle they decided they didn’t care, the fence is literally on the ground. The fence also shakes and might come down with strong wind. I complained and complained and he said his guys would come to fix it. I haven’t heard from them in 2 weeks, I needed the fence to be raised so I could replace my blacktop. This company is unprofessional, unresponsive, careless and lousy. I would never recommend them. Now I have to find another company to fix their mess!!!

FWe had our fence installed by Northeast back in 2015. The job cost $9000. They did an excellent job and we gave them an excellent review here on Angie’s List. However, a few days after the work was completed we requested some extra 6” x6’ slats to put behind a tree (not part of the original work scheduled). Of course we were willing to pay for the additional pieces. Luis told me he couldn’t get so few pieces unless they had an order for another job with the same color and he would let me know when it was available. I never heard back from him. Flash-forward to July 2019. A lightning strike knocked down a very large tree branch in our yard which broke the top rail of one of the 8’ panels and one of the 6” x 6’ slats. I called Luis and asked about the repair and sent him photos via text. He said he would ask his boss for a price and get back to me. He did not. After 2 days I texted him again. He quoted me a ridiculous price of $650 for the repair. I didn’t say yes or no, but I asked him to call me. He never did. Obviously, he didn’t want to be bothered. We pulled out our original paperwork to see that the fence materials were purchased from National Fence (a local company). My husband went over there and was able to purchase the top rail and 2 6” slats for $50. Thanks for nothing Northeast. You may do good work but once you’re paid, you want nothing to do with your customers.

FQuoting went great, price was good, agreed on terms, they handled the permits, so from several other companies that quoted around the same price selected them because of handling the permits. Communicated and expected the job to be done in the timeframe promised which is 6 weeks from the down-payment, and highlighted this as the completion time was important because of personal reasons. Big surprise when instead of the promised timeframe, it just doubled, reasons, various. Called to get explanations and discuss the timeframe, we did not get far in the discussion when the lady on the phone became extremely unprofessional, rude, impolite. Her temper was short to begin with ... Their customer service professionalism is way under the one star that I have to give as cannot go negative, they do not care about customers, they have plenty of business so they can afford mistreating people. Called back and talked to the owner for a refund, in spite of not having any options I asked for a refund, I can live without redoing my fence, but companies like this don't get my business. If I would have talked to a friendly person on the phone I would have left it as is, customers beware ...

AWhen I called Design Fencing and left a message, I received a return phone call within 10 minutes. (That was a big plus for us, since we had previously called 3 other popular Fencing companies from our area and STILL haven’t received a call back.) We scheduled someone to come for an estimate the next day. Joe from Design Fencing was great. He got in touch with us that day to introduce himself. We gave a deposit and we had our work completed within 10 days. I would definitely recommend them.
