Exterior Contractor reviews in Montclair

Jim and his crew were the ultimate professionals. Our job ended up being a total nightmare for them; a one day job turned into a 3 job and it was brutal work with a jackhammer. I appreciated that Jim and I were able to negotiate a fair price for the overrun. I also greatly appreciated their follow through at the end of the job and will definitely use them again because they were not only professional but very pleasant to work with.

Mike is a consummate craftsman! I am a real estate agent so I know what I'm talking about when I say that the quality of Mike's work is head and shoulders above everyone else. He is thoughtful and innovative and a genius when it comes to solving difficult repair problems. We had a major leak into our kitchen from our upper deck. Other contractors told us we would have to remove the deck at a cost of thousand of dollars. Mike worked tirelessly to successfully fix the leak without removing the deck and saved us a bundle! No job is too big or too small for Mike. We have used his services for years and recommend him to all our real estate clients. He is the best.

Mike is a consummate craftsman. There is no job too big or too small he cant handle. We had a leak in our kitchen that was coming from our outside deck. Another contractor had told us we would have to remove the deck to fix the problem for thousand of dollars. Mike worked tirelessly and found a solution that didnt require major construction and saved us a ton of money. Our kitchen has been dry ever since! Excellently! Approved contract on Monday and work began and finished on Wednesday! When Junius was running just a few minutes late, he called to let us know and to assure us that he would be arriving shortly. He was very professional, personable and a pleasure to work with. His estimate was reasonable, they worked steadily and completed the job in one day. They needed to go around a beautiful Holly tree and they recommended an aesthetically pleasing choice that we had not known to consider that protected the tree and also kept the fence in a straight line without extra posts. Their work was excellent and the fence is beautiful. I would hire them again in a minute and recommend them highly.

We were extremely gun shy. We had hired another contractor before, who just didn't show up for three months, always promising to start work tomorrow. When they did show up, they were supposed to replace some fixtures in the basement bathroom, but instead they gutted our basement to the studs and ran off with our deposit. Once we had the courage and the money to try again, we found Johnny to be calm, courteous, and professional. His men (many of them his brothers) are the same. There was always a foreman on duty, who spoke fluent English and could discuss the next steps with me, and work through any change orders. They showed up when they are supposed to, and did the work they are supposed to and were always willing to lend a hand or give advice on the projects I was working on. If there is a change order, Johnny would send it promptly and then incorporate it into the main contract so that we always had a consolidated view of what we were spending. His office is responsive as well, efficient and organized. My neighbors have told me that my roof raises their property values, and I want to spend all my time in my beautiful sun room. We were very unlucky the first time we tried our renovation, but that terrible experience did lead us to Johnny Venegas, so in the end I consider us very lucky indeed. The work was completed on-time, for a reasonable amount, and the result is beautiful.

Johnny Venegas is prompt and reliable when he provides a quote. He emphases the expected costs and any potential change orders that may be required as the true scope of the work is revealed (as often happens in an old house). His company has done numerous projects around my house and I am always satisfied with the results. They understand attention to detail, and will discuss the nuances of the scope of work prior to commencement.

George and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with. From the very beginning George gave me a very fair quote and was able to provide excellent suggestions on how to go about transforming our old Victorian back to life without any unnecessary up-sell. The entire Gikas team-from the color coordinator, painters, carpenters, and foreman made a what could have been a stressful renovation a very smooth job. I couldn't be happier!

The Magnolia Team did a complete redesign/renovation of our master bathroom. Magnolia did a great job, and they are very professional, well organized, highly skilled and very responsive. An extremely positive experience. We will look to Magnolia or our next project.

I had a privacy fence that was severely damaged during one of the March storms when a large tree came down on it. I reached out to six different fencing contractors for estimates, and only two were responsive. Kara contacted me promptly, we made an appointment and she came timely. I got a quote by the end of the same day. We contracted for the job and everything was done professionally and timely. Kara was an excellent communicator and let me know right away about a couple of issues that came up as the job was in process, all resolved to my satisfaction.

This company SUBCONTRACTS out to lesser companies. See websites i missed all about certapropainterscompaints, google Certapro stinks etc on google. I was told by Frank the owner I was "hiring Cerapro" and would receive, "Three of Cerapro's best painters" vetted by the owner. They placed a Cerapro sign on my lawn. So I believed him. Instead I received Wilson Painters & a rag tag group of strange men, new ones every day, who wandered around my home -not introduced (scary when you're alone in the house with a child) ALL with little or no painting experience. I own/manage commercial real estate and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in 20 years, Professionally and personally. Additionally, they STOLE over $3000k plus in items from my home. From day one, Wilson refused to speak to me for reasons unknown- I was very welcoming and polite but he was surly and unresponsive. Questions/concerns had to wait till the evening when Frank, the owner would show up. Frank WAS embarrassed by Wilson's attitude. They only painted ONE COAT in majority of rooms. They skipped a very large closet. It's 9 months later and paint is peeling off the walls and moulding. It's bubbled and peeled. I'll provide pictures if you contact me. They were supposed to perform light plastering-they only performed approximately 20% of what was promised and what they did is a drippy mess or not smoothed- They didn't bother to smooth plaster and painted right over. The majority of the windows weren't painted or received a few strokes of paint-it's bizarre. The wall in my son's room looks like a 4 yr old dripped plaster all over it. For reasons unknown, they CAULKED the corner of walls-where wall meets wall. Esp obvious in my living room. Why would anyone caulk a wall? The living room-the most beautiful room of the home-has caulk in all the corners and the French doors (which I was charged extra for-because of the detailing) are RUINED. They painted one coat but very very heavy-the beautiful details are now flawed, can not be sanded or fixed and an eye sore. I was so crushed. Instead of using a brush in the corner of walls-they, "slid" down the roller- we figured they were too lazy to clean a brush. It looks terrible. You eye catches these things. There a spots all over the place they missed-a second coat might have covered. Paint is all over the windows of the doors and on every single window in the house. I'm 54 and my father taught me to paint-I have a lot of experience-I know what is reasonable to expect. Some paint drops are reasonable to expect but this is ridiculous! This was a $10,000 job-I was promised it would be top notch-owner obviously pd sub-contracters 1/4 or 1/3 so they were only concerned with haste not professionalism. There was paint all over the floors-I just paid to re-finish some of the rooms-that was over $2500 right there and I had to vacate my home for days for that too! NO painters tape was used so there are NO straight lines-it's all wavy and again childlike /no painters lights were used when they painted in the evening/at dusk and they wouldn't use TARPS! I had to write the owner-PLEASE have them use TARPS! I was told that it would take two days/three days or longer to paint bedrooms, plaster and paint a bathroom and wouldn't be able to use these rooms. We rented a hotel room (nearest hotel $250.00 a night- iso $500 It's outside NYC) Both the rooms & plastering took Two and a half hours-seriously. Because they only do one coat. We packed up all the things necessary for kids and activities and left and it was NEVER necessary. Out another $500. Most importantly, it's a big mess-The owner flat out lied-he was obligated to tell me that he sub-contracted and he failed to do so-he didn't properly supervise the men he DID hire-showing up only at night, thinking that was sufficient. I can't tell you how frustrating it was not to be able to communicate with the painter-he was just rude and arrogant and even Frank the owner was continually embarrassed by his behavior. PLEASE CALL ME BEFORE YOU USE THIS COMPANY. I didn't pay the full amount-the owner offered to come back for only two days and re-paint and I had to promise to pay the full amount. He first refused to walk through and discuss damage first-It was approx 15 minutes of his time and he refused. I was afraid they'd do MORE damage-especially with only two days in which to work. I was told Wilson was, "my best painter" can you imagine what I might have gotten the second go around? It may look like I got off paying less but there's so much to fix and it's a huge problem to find people who'll fix other people's work-they charge hourly-it's a mess and who wants that!! Plus out the $500 and $3000k in personal stolen items-they wandered into my closets and drawers. Please contact me before using this company-They have good reviews on YELP but I've talked to people who've had horrible experiences and the majority of people don't write bad reviews mostly good I've noticed-Not TWO weeks had gone without finding more peeling paint or a mistake I missed. -I still need to go the Police-I've been too upset to handle it as I know I'll never receive my items (that I loved) or renumeration. Christina 201-424-4656- I have approx 50 pictures but I had trouble downloading.
