  • Please don't bring your pets here.  I brought my dog in several times for exams, vaccinations, etc.  After waiting a long time to see the vet, they did not do a thorough exam and missed my dog's swollen lymph nodes.  2 weeks later I noticed my dog's nodes were swollen so I brought him in immediately.  I knew that this could be lymphoma so I brought him in right away, cytology and bloodwork was ordered.  A few days later the vet called and said bloodwork was normal, cytology showed no cancer but they wanted to repeat it.  This would take a few more days.  So I wait a week and I am very worried since my dog is getting worse so I call them.  A few hours later the vet calls me and tells me that the repeat cytology showed increased abnormal lymphocytes and it is probably emerging lymphoma.  So I immediately take him to Red Bank where he is diagnosed with stage 3-4 lymphoma.  The cytology showed over 80% abnormal lymph nodes.  Please do not take your pets to SBAH they are not competent and failed to diagnose my dogs cancer in a timely manner.

  • .As usual, the exam was thorough. The vet and technician treated my very huge and very shy dog with patient loving kindness. The vet seemed a bit abrupt with me though when i would not agree to put my dog on the special dog food she recommended. I explained to the vet that I could not afford to purchase dog food that is even more expensive than the brand I now feed her because I will be getting laid off. I assured the vet that I would cut back on her feeding and increase her exercise to help my dog lose weight. The vet seemed quite dissatisfied with my reply and became more insistent. I did not give in and reiterated that incurring more expenses was not doable for me at this point. Still not satisfied, the vet said she would email me the information about the dog food and that it would only cost a few dollars more. I agreed to, at least, review her email.
    Before I left the technician said they wanted to get a urine sample from my dog. They did so, I paid and left.
    A couple days later the vet called stating abnormalities in the urinalysis. She told me to bring the dog in for further testing. I told her I would bring the dog in when I am able which wasn't received that well. Overall, the care my dog receives from Princeton Animal Hospital is excellent, however, it seems that some of the staff aren't as people friendly as they could be. Maybe they are so interested in the animal's welfare they forget to consider the human too? I do understand that an vet/animal hospital would put the animals best interest first, but once a person indicates that they simply cannot afford something, it would be nice to not try to make a person feel compelled to comply anyway. Since I have been using Princeton Animal Hospital for the past 7 years, I'm not sure how their charges compare to other vets/animal hospitals. I wonder if PAH is pricier than most?

  • The receptionist was pleasant and helpful when I called for an appointment. The assistant was EXCELLENT with my cats. He was kind and patient. He listened carefully and answered all my questions. The vet came in then and examined my cats and answered still more of my questions. It's hard to explain how good the whole experience was. EVERYONE at the location was nice, helpful and seemed like they really cared about my cats. They are a bit pricey but they are close to my house, they have very good hours of operation and everything just and quot;feltand quot; really good. They treated my cats very well, and that's the most important thing to me.

  • I've been using this vet off and on for three years.  I believe the vet is excellent in his skills and the way he has handled my cats.  He's not so good with me.  He seems to need to always be right even if the conversation is not about animals.  He also seems to gear his practice and his opinions to be sure he's not sued, even refusing to answer questions concerning his opinion, if it's counter to standard practice.  The people who answer the phone have been pleasant in the past but in September the person answering the phone was rude and uncooperative.  I just can't imagine ever using the services here again.  This practice is generally known as being very expensive.  When I had my two kitten spayed, the total cost was over $1,000.  At $35.00 the cost of nail trimming is higher than anywhere else I've found.

  • I have been bringing my pets to Dr. Lelkes for many years.  Even though I no longer live in North Brunswick, I still bring my pets to him for their medical care.  He has an amazing way with animals and his fees are unbelievably reasonable.  His office is not fancy, but always clean.  I currently bring my very difficult Persian cat to him for, among other things, her nails clipped.  I have brought her to two other animal hospitals and none of the veterinarians at either facility were able to clip her nails without sedating her.  They also charged ridiculously high fees to do this and I don't like to sedate her for something as simple as a nail clipping.  It is no surprise to me that Dr. Lelkes no longer accepts new patients; there is no facility in this area that I am aware of that provides such quality care at extremely reasonable prices.  He will take the time to answer all questions and concerns without ever making you feel rushed.  Dr. Lelkes is the best!!

  • I had just moved here and took my old almost 18 year old thin cat to this vet. I told him I was not rich.  He did about $350 in tests on the cat.   He called and  said the cat was anemic.  He said that about $500 of xray and sonogram tests had to be done. I tried to discuss alternatives. Altogether, he was condescending, controlling and unpleasant.  I have had such tests done on old cats in the past.  They still died not long after.  I am not rich.  I cancelled the appointment to find a new vet.  The cat died soon after.
    The vet is young.  I was not going to complain.  He has time to learn and change.

  • I started using him in 1996. He is 100% right on the money with his diagnosis. He has a great bedside manner and is just great with my dogs. I can't say enough good things about him. His staff is outstanding! I always love having Steve or John in the treatment room with Dr. Belli.

  • They're wonderful They're a full service vet.  They have all of the diagnostic tools on site.  There are a few really obscure blood tests that they have to send away, but routine ones are on site.  You wind up with the best doctors.  They are able to give you comprehensive services at a much better price.  They consult with one another.  They do continuing eduation, its the whole nine yards.  They are a 24/7 emergency service.

  • They're wonderful.  They are a full service vet.  They have all of the diagnostic tools on site.  There are a few blood tests that they have to send away.  For the routine ones they have right on site.  They are able to give you comprehensive services at a much better price.  They consult with one another and do continuing education.  They're 24 hour 7 day a week emergency service.
