Avoid this doctor if you are considering a breast lumpectomy. He left me with 4" scar in exactly the wrong place, down the side where bra seams are. Two well-qualified female surgeons who examined me afterwards expressed their shock in different ways. One apologized for recommending him, the other responded with silence and a heartfelt hug .. She told me that she would have done it differently. I remain heartsick over the scar he left on my breast.
Also, do not believe Dr. Licata if he gives you positive comments regarding future treatments. Before the lumpectomy surgery, and again in the recovery room, he told us my DCIS (ductile cancer in situ) was gone and that no further treatment would be needed.
A WEEK LATER, he told me the cancer was in fact Stage One, which required an entirely different treatment regimen. He should have NEVER told us ANYTHING without a pathology report first. He refused to admit that he was wrong in giving us the "all clear" without a pathology report. We gave him two opportunities to admit that he was wrong .. Both times he denied it.
His office staff is friendly and responsive but his office manager/billing person is heartless .. She not only doesn't listen to a patient's concerns, but she couldn't care less. This doctor does not accept any insurance. You use him on an out-of-network basis. Beware that the first bill they send you will be for the full amount of his services, $5,650. Pay ONLY what your insurance pays you, not a penny more.
*** Note that this is my first negative review of any healthcare provider. I did not locate this surgeon through Angie's List. He was recommended by one of my trusted doctors, so I did not go further. Big mistake! I hope by sharing these cautions here, that other women will be spared what I went through.

I have been using them for several years. They are courteous and they know how to do their job. A couple of times I had to go there cold and I waited for an hour, then the doctor saw me and that was fine. They have magazines and TVs.

I have been going to her for years and my mother had been going to her for years so it's like a family thing. She is easy to talk to. She knows my family and we know her. She is convenient and has good hours.

My issue with this practice is not the medicine but the administrative part. A few months ago, I called for an appointment. I left my name and number; no one called back. In the meantime, nervous about a tick bite and living in high-Lyme territory, I went to a local clinic.

I am also trying to resolve an issue with a bill that I think should have been covered by Medicare. This revolves around billing for a test I've twice had elsewhere and had covered. The same paperwork has been submitted twice to this office. I had no callback the first time and am hoping for a better result this time.

She spoke to me at length about my issue and questions I had.  She said she would keep up to date with my status via computer rather than require me to send her copies of my reports (she is affiliated with the same hospital I would be using for surgery).  Everything was for my benefit.  This is just a specific example of the follow-up of this doctor.
She has been my doctor for about 2+ years now and is always knowledgable, helpful, and caring.  She is very detail-oriented and asks very probing questions that get to a diagnosis as quickly as possible.  I highly recommend her.

Dr. Mary Giorlando is an outstanding physician. You will not find a more thorough doctor. She takes the time to examine you from top to bottom, no short cuts. If you require a specialist, she will direct you accordingly. I have followed her to several offices. If you want a doctor that listens, treats, and follows-up then you want Dr. Giorlando.

She has an excellent bedside manner and takes her time also. She was in the group that I used to use and they didn t take my insurance anymore, so I had to find a new person, and I was lucky enough that the new person I went with, Dr. Meyer was joining her.

Dr. Surow was great; he thoroughly explained what needed to be done, and even asked if we would prefer that his office partner, who had more experience, do the surgery. We felt confident in Dr. Surow, and he performed the surgery. It went as planned (Dr. Surow had to graft skin taken from my son's scalp onto the ear drum), and my son's ear healed perfectly. Dr. Surow was thoughtful, caring and professional at all times.

My first visit with Dr. Katz was when I had a terrible ear ache. He was able to see me quickly and I was very satisfied with the help he gave me. His office staff is good and he has an in-house audiologist.
