  • John did outstanding job finishing basement in our house. He provided contract at the beginning of the project with the job descriptions and prizing. The prizing was reasonable. He strictly honors the contract. He worked personally with Livingston city authorities for job permit. John spent a lot of time with the city inspectors and completed all their recommendations. Work was done in very professional manner without any deficiencies. We are very happy! Definitely, recommend this company services to our relatives and friends

  • Hands down the best contractor we've used. Trustworthy, innovative and completed everything on time for our basement remodel. My husband and I will be using My Town for all of our renovation projects go forward.

  • I worked with David, the owner, on an extensive and complicated addition to my house. It's been through several owners with previous work done. What is priceless about David was that he remained present and extremely accessible throughout the progress of the project. From coming to the store to pick out materials (and passing on his contractor discount), to layout ideas, and most importantly, how he provided solutions to unforeseen hiccups in the project due to architectural mistakes. My family and I deeply appreciated his dedication to his clients and the success of the project. He truly enjoys his line of work, and he accepts nothing less than perfection from his staff. We are loving the new space, and wouldn't hesitate to use JDDM for our future projects.

  • We have gotten quotes from various people and they came in the least amount and we also had gotten recommendation from our architect to use them. So I have no idea they just started, I don't have opinion. They came on time. I would use them again for quote.

  • I recently purchased a home and was recommended to MC by a neighbor to handle an almost complete renovation before I moved in. Eric was spot on in keeping on schedule and prompt in responding to any questions my husband and I had. During the construction process Eric's staff was very attentive to detail and did a really great job in keeping dust and debris contained in their work area. The overall job came out even better than expected especially the kitchen which turned out phenomenal. Once the weather breaks my husband wants to build a deck and some other small improvements and definitely will be turningto MC for all of our needs

  • The work went very well.  The inspectors as well as other contractors have commented on how good of a job Basic Basements did.  Very few issues were encountered along the way, and most were quickly and easily resolved.  Basic Basements was good to their word about not having additional charges that popped up along the job, the only one was a small charge for a plumber to come out to disconnect and reconnect the baseboard heater when it was determined that it would not be possible to complete the job without bringing in a plumber.  The basement looks fantastic, and I would highly recommend Basic Basements to anyone looking for a simple, straightforward basement finishing that's done at a high standard of craftsmanship and professionalism.

  • I can't rave enough about this company.  Pachi and his crew have the highest standard of excellence for themselves personally as well as for their work. Their work is exceptional; their work ethic is demonstrated daily. They strive for perfection and there are no shortcuts taken. They honor their word and in four months, there was not a harsh word spoken between us. Communication is key with a contractor, and with Pachi, it is made easy.  In addition, he and his crew are responsive, reliable, neat and respectful.  Pachi has been around construction since early childhood and there isn't anything he doesn't know, but he remains humble. People, including my designer, are amazed at the quallity of his work and I can't recommend him any more highly. And best of all, his prices are extremely fair.  He is a treasure!

  •  We worked with Kimak Builders in 2005, when Rich, Mike and the crew totally renovated our bungalow.  The results were outstanding.   We didn't think they did smaller jobs....we were mistaken.  Our rental property needed some new life but our budget was limited.

This job began with the replacement of an ailing& failing front porch.  Kimak Builders gave us a better quote than 2 other renovators and used better materials than we had been quoted.  This allowed us to take the job to the next level, replacing some windows, upgrading plumbing and electrical and a total renovation of our kitchen and bath. The porch was demo'd and replaced, adding new footings, columns, railings, stairs and mahogany decking.   It's so beautiful...great curb appeal right from the start!

Electrical and plumbing were upgraded, some new structural supports were added and the kitchen and bath were gutted and rebuilt while still keeping the craftsman charm of the home! New energy effiecient windows were installed across the front of the house, the interior trim, built ins, fireplace mantel and moldings improved the areas we didn't touch.  Radiators were covered with simple but elegant covers.  The kichen and bath came out spectacular even on a limited budget.  Rich was very attentive to keeping on budget, on time and keeping us informed . Everyone of their crew is friendly, hardworking and professional.  Each day the house was left impecably clean both inside and out.  Kimak Builders are honest, talented, hardworking professional builders/remodelers.   We were kept abreast of progress and were able to reach out at any time to discuss any concerns we might have had. The end result is terrific!

  • When the contract was signed, Peter agreed to start on Monday 03/19/2012. With Peter's help I was able to get the proper permits in hand on 03/16/2012.

On the day I received the permit, Peter informed us that he would not be able to start the job on the day we had agreed on, but rather just be able to drop-off his things. He still wanted to get a 3rd of the money to buy material. He also told us that he was not going to be able to work that Wednesday.

He dropped off his stuff on Monday 03/19/2012 and I gave him $3,500. After working one full day on Tuesday 03/20/2012, Peter and his crew were able to frame up 3/4 of the basement. Peter did not return on Wednesday to do any work. Thursday morning I asked Peter about the following items:

        1. Why was my cable not working correctly when I arrived home on Tuesday night ( I have Verizon Fios and my HD channels weren't working ) ? I spend over an hour on the phone with Verizon to fix the issue that night.
        2. Why wasn't the washer and dryer covered after he said he would cover them ? My wife didn't want her washer and dryer full of dust and asked Peter to cover them and he agreed to cover them.
        3. Why were there protruding nails from the framing near the electrical box and Fios power box ?
        4. Why, just out of courtesy, didn't he ask before putting his sign on my property ( or just let me know ) ?
        5. Would he be installing mold resistant drywall in the basement ?

He told me that I would need to pay him extra for the mold resistant drywall and that it was not required by code (but he knew I had just put in a new french drain and been running a dehumidifier). With only 100 linear feet of wall, the difference in price was less than $90. He was either sorry or didn't have an answer for my other questions.

I told Peter that he was highly recommended and that I had expected higher quality workmanship and professionalism. I mentioned that his quote was not the lowest I had received but I had used him regardless thinking he would exceed my expectations. I wasn't expecting him to ask for more money. With that, Peter said he was done; and he walked off the job.

He gave me $1,000 before leaving with his things, and later told my wife that he'd send us a check for $200.

Now I'm out $2,500 and I still have an unfinished basement, but now with 3/4 of the framing up. Peter also left behind a few rolls of insulation and the uninstalled utility room door.

Update: We received the $200 from Peter on 03/24. My wife had also talked to him on the phone requesting that he send an itemized receipt of the materials bought and labor. Peter refused to provide a receipt.

  • She was very easy to work with and took our recommendations and gave us good insight on how we could renovate the basement. We were pleased with their work. We would use them in the future.
