    Progressive Renovations
If I could give this company negative stars, I would. We paid many, many thousands of dollars for them to address flooding issues in our basement. The work took nearly 6 months in total, and now, more than a year later, we are barely in better shape than when we started. Water still streams in from the basement door. They installed a sump pump, but now we have a gaping hole in the side of the wall around the pump where water gushes in. When we called them to correct their terrible work, they added some half-assed quick dry cement to try to funnel the water around the sump pump. And the leak around the door? Somehow that's our fault. They told us to caulk it ourselves. We hired them to fix our flooding basement and as of yesterday 8/23/18 we still have flooding. They had to have the boss come in and "fix the issues that the guy assigned to our house did. Even after the "fixing" we are still dealing with the aforementioned hole and water. See the picture of how they left it. Yes, that is water flooding into our house from the dry well.... Absolutely terrible service and work.

The whole job went great! Antonio and his crew were punctual, respectful and neat. Antonio stopped by practically everyday during the job and answered all the questions that we had. His knowledge was invaluable when I needed to make decisions as the job progressed. We Added numerous small projects to our list that he and his crew were executed to the same standards as the masonry work. I would highly recommend Debenedetto Construction to anyone that is looking for masonry work to be done!

They were great. Their professionalism stood out. they were super fast. They were unbelievably quick doing the work, It was done in the matter of a couple of days. We pointed out a couple of small things to fix and they were back in a couple of days to fix it. They were great all around. Quality of work, their knowledge, they really knew what they were doing. We didn't get a chance to do a lot of comparison on cost, we were in a flood situation.

Advanced Professional Plumbing Heating & Cooling
Called in the morning and was able to get an appointment the same day. Was given a two hour window and the technician, Sam, came right on time.

Had water leaking through the circulating pump on my heating system.  Called PSE&G the previous day and was told I would need to replace the pump and motor, and bleed the entire system of air.  They quoted me around $600 (this is with the standard WorryFree contract) and approximately 2 days to get the new motor.

Sam is very knowledgeable and walked me through the issues with the pump (checked gaskets, etc.).  He replaced the circulating pump, bled the system, and stuck around to make sure everything worked fine.  He was very professional and also was kind enough to clean the area where the work was done.

Price quoted was fair; no surprises in the end.

    Scaldino Basement Solutions
Our small condo association (4 apartments) hired Scaldino Basement Solutions to install 2 professional grade sump pumps in the area outside the foundation of our house.  During heavy rains (not hurricanes, just hard rain) we had an excess of a foot of water in the area with standard sump pumps.  Scaldino Basement Solutions came on time to give us a quote and update the quote at my request before we actually decided to schedule the work (over a 6 month period).
They came on the scheduled day to complete the work and finished in the time indicated (although they were about 20 minutes late arriving.  We live in an area with lots of traffic, so this was understandable.  I still gave them an A for punctuality).  The scope of the work included installing a drain in a brick patio, removing a concrete edge that was trapping water, and installing 2 commercial grade sump pumps.
Through a slight missed communication, the drain was installed to the right of a drain, rather than the left as I thought it would be.
Since it was in the brick and couldn?t be moved, Scaldino Basement Solutions gave us a discount on the work.  This would not have been problem if I had been home during the work since I would have caught it sooner.  Again, it was very minor.  For future work, I'd draw a diagram of the layout.
I have waited several months to write the review, since I could only test the work after a heavy rain.  We?ve had multiple hard rain storms with absolutely no water back-up.  Extremely happy with the work they completed and our building will be hiring them in the future for service as needed on the pumps (they do offer annual maintenance).  The other people in our building are also very happy with the work.

    Select Basement Waterproofing Inc
My original estimate was for 1 sump pump, but the night before they came we had a flood warning and a little water was starting to come in by 11PM. By 9 AM the next morning the flood warning had ended but we had at least 12 inches of water in the crawlspace. I thought I would have to reschedule. When I called the owner suggested 2 pumps and said they would pump out the water and then be able to do the job. These guys were absolutely amazing. It is no fun being down in the crawlspace on a nice dry day, but they brought extra people and worked until way past sundown even though they were wet and it got real cold. They are a happy bunch that really seem to enjoy working together. They joke and rib each other in good clean fun.
They assessed the water situation and positioned the pumps for maximum efficiency. They discovered a spot where my neighbor's water was coming right through the brick foundation and we discussed possible solutions that would realistically address the situation. Two came back the next day and finished putting thermal guard on all the posts and secured and taped the floor material to the wall material. The thermal guard on the walls is really great. It adds a bit of insulation and is a mold barrier as well.
They set up my new Santa Fe dehumidifier to drain into the sump pump and the place is dry, light and smells clean. These guys really know what they are doing. They do it with good cheer and they are quick and professional. I would use them again without hesitation.

They were not actually plumbers but they were able to install the sump pump.  They had a plumber on standby if they needed him.  When they actually came in to reinforce the stairwell, I mentioned that my basement was having some flooding problems and they were able to fix that.  They are not officially plumbers.  They do construction, but as they said after 30 years in the business they learnt to do a lot of things.  At first I thought they were going to call in a plumber.  They had somebody, but they were able to actually do the work.  The stairwell work cost about $400.00.  The installation of the sump pump and the drain, the waterproofing, and the cement work in the basement was about $1700.00.  I had a leaking valve for the hose so they moved the spigot for $280.00.  They also put a door back on for me, but they didn't charge me for that.  It was great.  I actually plan to use Robert Midgley to have a deck put on.

    Vulcan Basement Waterproofing
Our basement had been flooding: whenever the forecast called for 2 inches of rain we'd get water in the front and back of our house. The salesman (Don) who came out to inspect our property was very nice and promised us that his team could dig a French drain along the front and back of our house, install new pumps, and that this would fix the problem. He assured us his team was a responsible group of professionals who took care when entering people's homes (he said this after having tracked in mud all over our floors - he didn't bother removing or wiping his shoes before entering). Still, he assured us the problem would be fixed by his team, we liked the guarantee, and the 3500.00 price seemed reasonable compared to all the other quotes.

The team arrived 15 minutes early and began working. About three hours into the project we were informed that they accidentally jack-hammered into the city water main on the inside of our house. Water was gushing out of the pipe and eventually flooded our entire bottom floor. I was called by the Vulcan office and was told by Victor to call my own plumber to fix the water pipe that they just hit. I told Victor that, no, I would not call a plumber to fix his problem, his company hit the pipe and its his responsibility to fix it. He called a plumber friend of his to turn off the water and fix the pipe. The plumber arrived and after three hours of water gushing into our house, the water was stopped and the drained. But the damage was done. We ended up being without water from 12:00pm on Friday until 8:00 pm on Saturday. My wife and 5 month old checked into a hotel while I stayed with the plumber. To complicate matters, we have a two family house, so our tenant was also without water for this entire time. We spoke with Victor and Don our salesman and were told not to worry by Vulcan assured us they would and quot;take care of usand quot;.

When the water pipe was hit the Vulcan team went searching for the turn off valve, which is on the sidewalk in Jersey City, but they are typically between the house and street in most municipalities. Regardless, their team pranced to the back of the house where our pump system is for the fire sprinkler system. They turned valves in that room, in an attempt to stop the water flooding into our house. Of course this didnt work. But they did manage to leave valves open, so when water was eventually restored, this room was also flooded with about 2-3 inches of water and the contents were sprayed. We stored pictures and other wall art (prints, paintings, etc) in there to be out of the construction area no such luck. It was all damaged, but wait, thats not the end. The water heaters are in the same room and were also flooded and needed to be totally replaced. That was $2500 for both I know that sounds like a lot, but they are blower vented hot water heaters and of course more expensive, which we found out for the first time.

Anyway water was restored and Vulcan could finish the job. I had to take a day off from work and they came out on Monday to finish the 4-hour job that they started on Friday morning. But this is still this is not the end of the unacceptably poor quality work. When I inspected the French drain in the back of the house I found it didnt even connect to the sump pit!!! I called Victor and let him know and he had an employee inspect it. He found the trench stopped 4 feet short of the sump pit. They crew jackhammered the tile and re-cemented over it to make it look like it was connected, but there was no pipe or trench draining into the pit. The worker who was there had to get the jackhammer out of his van and correctly finish the drain. He did that, but if I didnt inspect the job they would have taken my money without actually performing the work correctly or to what was agreed upon in the contract.

By the time everything was finished, we got hot water back on Tuesday afternoon. Each of the 9 doors in the basement (where our bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, laundry room are) were destroyed. The walls must be cut out, and the insulation removed. We spent the last week upstairs on a pull-out couch and the babies been in a pack n' play. We now have to deal with our insurance company, pay the $1500 deductible, and hire contractors to restore our house to what is was before Vulcan stepped foot inside.

Vulcan informed us that, per our contract, this damage is not their responsibility. They offered to and quot;knock $500.00 off the priceand quot;. That was how they were going to take care of us? Seriously!?!? You just ruined our house. This will take weeks to fix and even thousands more money out of pocket. DONT SIGN A CONTRACT IF THEY STATE THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE THEY CAUSE.

We would recommend anyone thinking of using this company not to. Get other quotes youll find that everyone will propose similar fixes a French drain. Go with someone else dont fall for the Popular Mechanics article from the 1970s. This company damaged everything and every area of our house that they worked in. I could have done less damage if I did it myself. After our experience with them I dont think I would even call them if we did get water during the next rain storm KEEP THESE PEOPLE AND THIS COMPANY OUT OF YOUR HOUSE!
