    A1 Handyman Service LLC
Mike from A1 was very reasonable. He understood the scope of work and gave very reasonable price. He picked all the required materials himself from the store. Came on time and finished the work. I would hire him again

HHI was unbelievable. They redid my kitchen and living room. Total gut of the kitchen, took down 2 walls, recessed lighting, crown molding, baseboard molding, redid hardwood floor, installed a chandelier. So professional and great to work with. The end product was just beyond what I could have hoped for. Such attention to detail and real craftsmen. Plus, they specialize in working in city environments which is more complicated than the suburbs. They do it all and take the stress out! Joe and his group are a class act! Would absolutely recommend!

I recently purchased a condo and needed to get significant work done before moving in. I needed someone who could manage the entire project for me, as I didn't have the time to deal with multiple contractors, due to my work schedule. After interviewing many contractors and remodeling specialists, I was immediately impressed with my first conversation with Joe Shoback, the owner of Hudson Home Improvement. Unlike so many other professionals I had spoken with (and dealt with on a home improvement project I had done on a house I owned), Joe's project management skills from his days working in Finance were apparent right away. His approach was methodical and thorough, as he assessed the work I needed done and prepared the project scope. He assured me that his methodology for scoping the project would prevent unnecessary price changes by completion, i.e. I could remain confident that I would pay what he quoted. And he was absolutely right. The work was completed exactly on time and on budget, give or take some $$, due to additional items I added to the scope as the project was underway. I really liked the software app he uses called Buildertrend, as it provided a forum for us to communicate about the project and I watched progress, as his team posted photos of their work. We had weekly checkin conference calls, which included his team. This was very helpful, as I could ask questions directly of the team (and vice versa) and touch base on any; issues that needed attention. Also, I was able to make payments online, which was hugely convenient. At the end of the project, Joe had a team do clean up, something I had not expereinced with contractors I worked with on previous projects. The condo was move in ready, after his team finished their work and cleaning.........amazing! I would highly recommend Joe and Hudson Home Improvement. He and his team are professional, efficient and will enable you to get on with your own work, knowing that he has everything under control. It was a stress-free expereince for me and an absolutely pleasure dealing with Joe, who is professional, calm and efficient. I have other remodeling projects slated for the future and have no doubt who I will be asking to handle!

    All Star Woodworking
Bummer. The architect who came to house was very nice.  When I told him my budget ($7000 MAX), and my thoughts: to expand wall cabinets to ceiling and build cart on casters for additional storage, I guess they figured I was not worth the time. Architect actually called to order lunch from a restaurant before leaving my house (seemed a tad unprofessional. could that have been done from his car?).Anyhow, after a week and a half, I got a call from architect saying they could add on to the cabinets (2 feet high and about 10 feet long) for storage, and they could build the storage cabinet on casters for $8000, and only if it was made of melamine, not wood. I was bummed, as I hoped they would at least try to work with my budget. If I wanted melamine cabinets, I'd go to IKEA.  Long story short, I never saw any designs or plans for the money paid for design consultation. I guess design consultation means that someone will come and do measurements, draw on graph paper, take pictures and leave. What a waste. I'm still left trying to figure out a solution to my storage problem.Really bummed about the 'service' I paid for.I'm guessing if you have a $20-30,000 budget, these guys will break their neck to help you out...not so much if you want real wood for a small space and are on a budget.

    Lucky Three LLC
Bez and his team from Lucky Three LLC are the best! The guys from Lucky Three LLC are fast, clean and professional. I have an old house and parts of my kitchen have not seen light of day for 30 years. During the renovation of an old house, naturally issues are expected and Bez took the time to explain any challenges that came up and worked his magic to make sure we stayed close to budget without cutting any corners. It was obvious that Bez and his team pride themselves and standby their work. With all the issues that were found (rotted floor beams, rotted walls, unleveled ceiling, clogged drainage) and even some snow that kept me from going to work, they were able to complete the job in about 5 weeks. During the whole process, Bez stays in close contact with you to keep you posted on the progress. I tell my friends and co-workers that if they were in my house and there's an earthquake, run to my kitchen. That's the most solid and safest place in my house right now : )
Thank you again Bez and the team from Lucky Three LLC!!!

    Direct Depot Kitchen Wholesalers Inc
After attempting to begin the process of a complete kitchen renovation with 2 other major chains, I made the smart decision to go with Direct Depot Kitchen.  It was an easy decision to make once I met with Bill Hancock.  He KNOWS cabinets and took the time to make sure my wife and I were completely satisfied with the design and quality of the cabinets.  Even after the cabinets arrived and the renovation were in the hands of the contractor, Bill took the time to check up on the progress.  Direct Depot Kitchen makes you feel like family, not just a customer.

    Hudson Home Improvement LLC
We had a very pleasant experience working with Hudson Home Improvement. The owner (Joe) and lead contractor for our job (Mark) were incredibly responsive every step of the way. We appreciated that they stayed in touch via email and text and provided regular updates on the job, including any delays and information about materials. They were also very transparent about the process, so we always knew what to expect.
We had received other estimates for this job, but the contractors never seemed to grasp exactly what we were looking for -- offering estimates that were too high and expansive or too low and basic. Joe and Mark immediately understood what we wanted and provided guidance that made sense given our space and the challenges of a small, older home. We trusted their advice and are very happy with the results.

    GALARZA BUILDERS INC
My wife and I (expecting our first child) bought our first house in Ridgewood, NJ.  The most important thing for us is that we were going to be an hour away from Ridgewood while this work was getting done, so we really needed someone reliable and self-sufficient.  We interviewed maybe 12-15 contractors before choosing Galarza Builders to renovate our kitchen, bathroom and half-bath.
We were extremely pleased with their work, professionalism and responsiveness.  Our arrangement was that we would choose and buy the items and they would do the work.  Vic was very detailed about everything we needed to choose up-front and what to look for/not to look for.  Vic picked up the big items (tub/toilet/etc) for me from the store as long as I paid for them first.  I felt Vic and his brother Steve went above and beyond what they had to do for us because if we couldn't make it up to Ridgewood, they would even swing by the house to make sure large items like our bathroom vanity were delivered properly. (Not saying they would do this for everybody just that they really accommodated our situation).  They also offered to do other little things for us (like hooking up our new dryer/washing machine) if it was a quick thing.
Vic and Steve were also very quick with their work.  I felt they were pretty much waiting on us to choose/buy things otherwise they might have been done with things faster.  For example our bathroom still isn't finished because we needed to send our vanity back and get another one so they will come back and finish it up for us when the vanity gets here.  They were also very trustworthy.  They did what they said they would even though we weren't going to be around to check up on their work.  We stopped in a few times unexpectedly and everything was being done just like we discussed (even completely sealing other rooms in the house so no dust would get into them - which I assume they could have taken shortcuts with if they wanted to).  This was without doubt my biggest concern about getting work done on our new house.
We're extremely happy to have developed a relationship with Galarza Builders because we will have more projects in the next few years and I'm glad we've found somebody we can trust.  We thought their prices were fair (they weren't the cheapest but definitely weren't expensive either).  I'd highly recommend them.
I realized after writing this that I left out specifics of the jobs - the bathroom was full gut-and-reno, including taking down plaster walls, replacing it with mold-resistant dry-wall and a new frosted-glass window, doing plumbing, leveling the floor of our old house, doing tiling, etc.  Everything except electrical which they were more than willing to work with my father-in-law, an electrician by trade.  For the kitchen, they replaced one plaster wall which needed to be re-insulated, and put together all of our cabinets with crown molding.  They also did a bunch of trim work on our doors around the house.  For the half bath, they tiled the floor and replaced the toilet and pedestal sink.

EZ FURNITURE ASSEMBLY & INTERIOR INNOVATIONS
He has a few other businesses as well. I gave him the money and he said he would get the necessary paper work to work in the building. He never did, he never showed up and never returned my calls. We did a lot of texting and he said he'd be there, but he never showed u0. They said they were working on it. At one point in time I had to take care of an unfinished kitchen and bathroom. I went to the address that was listed for him, but it was just a mail box.
