    Ross and Andy were great! They came over to assess it pretty soon after I contacted them. They spent a lot of time looking all around and then came up with a plan. They itemized the plan for me, including the cost of an industrial dehumidifier. We then got two more estimates which weren't nearly as good as theirs (and one was double the cost) but had a couple of extra suggestions we liked. Andy checked with me in a few days later to see if I had any questions and he said "We'd love to earn your business." I liked that. I got back to him with a few items we wanted to add on to our original plan and one we wanted to drop. He came over again and went over the new items and a few other things, and he rewrote the itemized bill. When I asked about a downpayment, he said no need, just pay us when the job is done. I thought it would take a long time but Andy, Ross and their team of about 5 or 6 more guys came over on Monday before 8am and worked really hard. The guys were respectful and friendly. They They finished this job in 2 days and our basement is transformed! They have also been very responsive to follow up questions as we've still had a mildew smell from time to time. However, we've had no signs of dampness, water or mold since their work was done. Even though our basement is unfinished, other workmen have commented on how it's a very nice basement and in good shape as it looks brighter, cleaner and like it has real potential.

    9/27/10 Hired SJ Waterproofing to reinforce a first floor bathroom for an upcoming re-model project for a bedroom/bathroom from the crawl space.  The original contractor who built the home never handled the bathroom properly.  It was designed as a handicapped bathroom and the original floor wasn't built with the proper material (we found out once the floor rotted and started to sag.)  SJ Waterproofing had been referred to me by a family member as having knowledge in all types of structural issues.  Our biggest concern at the time was making sure the foundation could support the "new bathroom" once the remodeling project started.  Phil came out to inspect and when we explained what we ultimately wanted for the bedroom/bathroom,  he not only knew how to support the area from under the crawl space, but explained to us what we needed to confirm with our contractor for bathroom remodel.  He explained to us the type of floor/materials  that should have been used the first time around so we wouldn't be in the position of needing a remodel.  The guys did an excellent job and because of that we called them for several more projects.  

    10/28/10 Hired SJ Waterproofing to come back to the house and do some disinfecting/decontaminating for the re-model project.  There clean and thorough.  They also worked their schedule to accommodate us as they knew the "rush" we were in at the time.

    3/4/13  Hired SJ Waterproofing to replace the sump pump and paint the basement walls.  They recommended using a waterproof sealant.  Again, they were professional, prompt and cleaned up after themselves.

    I recently experienced two serious issues with Sila.  
    (1) They offered me 12-month interest free financing but never told me this was actually a CREDIT CARD with Wells Fargo- not before or after taking my personal information and them calling Wells Fargo to get me approved for what they kept referring to simply as 12 month interest free financing (there was a single reference to a Credit Card Agreement - a copy of which I was not provided - in an invoice they had me sign the day of the install, which I later discovered after receiving a Wells Fargo credit card in the mail).  I thought I was applying for $5600 in financing and instead I learned that I was being provided with an $8800 line of credit from Wells Fargo.  When I wrote the salesman, Chris Drew, to tell him that this felt deceptive given the several discussions we had about the "financing" without him ever disclosing that he applied for a credit card on my behalf I received the following response:  "Justin, I apologize if anything was unclear throughout the process.  Yes, their financing program is considered a revolving line of credit (sic) Wells Fargo typically sends the card if you wanted to use it for any other purposes on the line of credit you were approved for.  You do not have to use it and many of my customers just discard it.  All the payments can be processed via their website."  Does Sila really think that just throwing a credit card in the garbage is the answer?  Are customers supposed to just throw out the cards every couple of years when Wells Fargo issues new cards?  Is Sila going to monitor the credit card account for me to make sure there isn't any fraud?  I think not.  Also, what about the minimum monthly payments that presumably I will have to make now that I know this is a credit card - these are facts that Sila should not hide from its customers.  The salesman's manager, Adam Kroungold, called me to "clarify my concerns," as he put it.  What that meant was that he was not going to start off by apologizing for his company's deceptive sales tactics but rather point out the reference to the Credit Card Agreement buried in the invoice.  And he was incredibly rude to boot!  This is NOT the type of company I will want to do business with in the future.  
    (2) Sila sold me on buying a one-year service plan for nearly $1000 only to shortly thereafter tell me that I need to replace my boiler.  They also told my wife that our boiler was over 30 years old when, in reality, it is not even 20 years old according to the manufacturing date.  Doesn't that feel great if you're a consumer - "hey, we offer a great service plan which you should buy" followed shortly thereafter by "actually, you should just buy a new boiler."  Great customer service, Sila.

    They were great from the beginning to end. They were quick to come and give us a full assessment of the work, time, and cost. They submitted the application for the building permit and notified me when it was ready so that I could pick it up at the borough hall. We postponed the work for a few months to give us time to get ready. (We had to throw out much, move a lot to the garage, and move the remaining items to the center and cover everything with plastic.) They came back once at our request to make sure that our preparations would give them the room and access we needed.
    They showed up on time both days, a crew of three including Phil. They had the borough inspector come out on the second day while they were working so the inspection was done at the same time. They worked quickly. There was remarkably little dust afterward. They cleaned up the basement, the backyard, and the driveway. You couldn't tell that they had ever been there, except that we had a new drain! They were very good at giving us information about what would happen and what to expect when they finished.
    We already had someone come to the house and give us an estimate to replace the sheet rock. He commented that SJ Waterproofing were thinking ahead on our behalf because the way that the sheet rock had been removed would make it the simplest and easiest job to replace. Wow!
    While I hope that we never have to use them again (problems solved!), but I would not hesitate to call them again for help or recommend them for any such job.

    I liked my whole experience.  I particularly liked dealing with Jeff  Bowen, who is the owner. He did everything he said he was going to do and he did not push me to do more than I wanted to. He was very clear on what he was going to do and he came in on time. It took about 4 days. His crew was also great to work with.  We had a problem with the sump pump later on and he came out the next day to fix the problem and he answered my call immediately.

    They came, did some work, but forgot to plug in the pump. Then, maybe three days later, there was this huge flood in the basement and we didn't know why. The drain wasn't working because the guy didn't plug it back in, so, we had tons of water-damage. It was a really bad experience actually. It was a simple mistake, but, at the same time, it was huge. It was like a river inside our basement. We finally figured out that it was unplugged. The guy unplugged it, I guess, to service it. That definitely left a very bad impression. All this happened after they left and we had at least three to five inches of water in the basement. It doesn't say anything about the workmanship, but it was kind of sloppy so I'll never use them again.
