  • Working with Tom and his guys was a great experience. They were at our home by 8 a.m. every weekday of the project. They were thoughtful, responsive and did great work from designing a banquette bench to installing a wood floor. Tom made sure every detail was addressed. We were happy with the vendors and subcontractors Tom chose. He gave us detailed updates on project finances. We love our new space.

  • Took a while to come look at what I needed but it seemed like he had a good solution. Waited awhile for estimate but it was fair. Unfortunately he told me that someone else was coming on a certain day but did not show up and did not call. He didn't come the following day either. Basically did not show up. Do not use this guy.

  • Originally quoted that job would take 1 person 4 hrs (approx $500) for a front door and storm door installation. Individual came to home and stated it would be a two person job and no one else was available that day. Spoke with office, rescheduled for 5 days later. A different individual came out 5 days later (again - just one person) and told us that its a 2 person job that they cannot do alone. Several hours later, another individual came to help (though we were charged for those several hours of one individual trying to do the job in the meantime). It ended up taking approx 8 hrs for the job to be performed on this day for which we were charged $2000 AND THEY DID NOT EVEN COMPLETE THE JOB! They framed out the door, placed the front door and place some of the trim on the outside but did not start inside trim, finish outside trim or install storm door at this point. They stated they would need to come out at another scheduled time to complete the job. Nanny was home with child the entire time they were working and per her, "it seemed like they were really taking advantage of the fact that you were paying by the hour." Granted, I was not present to view how hard they were working (I was working myself) so I cannot speak specifically to that comment. The quality of work completed to that point was acceptable but they purchased additional materials (which they then charged us for but did not ask if we would/wouldn't want them), including a keystone which I did not want or like. My husband (who signed the contract) was not home when they completed the first days' work (he was also working). He discussed his concerns with the office when it opened the following day but was never able to answer the phone when the owner called because he called when my husband was working. The following day (again, husband and I worked all day), the owner came to our house and repeatedly rang the doorbell around 730 pm until I answered the door. I was putting my child to bed and could not immediately answer the door - boy was he persistent! I expressed my concerns to him directly but asked him to speak to my husband because he stated, "well you didn't sign the contract so you don't know what was agreed upon." During the entire conversation, the owner was defensive and accusing us of avoiding payment which is due "at the completion of the job" (which in our eyes was NOT completed at this point). I immediately called my husband (who was still working) who attempted to call the owner with no response. The owner and my husband were able to connect on day 3 after the job was started and the owner did not even attempt to make the situation right (no offer to complete the job at a discount, discount the work they already did, discount the items purchased that were not approved, etc). My husband paid the full price for a job not completed that was 4x the original quote. He ended up finishing the job himself, including removal of the keystone that I never wanted. I would NEVER recommend doing business with this company.

  • Excellent...Thoralf was always punctual, professional and a true craftsman whether it was in leveling the floor of an old mudroom, framing out new closets, building a deck and stairs, installing windows or what I considered to be the nicest renovation of the entire project...a beautiful, removable, 2-piece wrought iron railing. Thoralf took two completely different, old and rusted railing sections...cut it all apart and put it back together. The results are rock solid, ingenious, beautiful, and artistic. The problem he overcame was with building a two-landing staircase railing so that it could be removed and replace allowing furniture to be brought upstairs. Only 4 bolts and a creative coupling of the two pieces holds the railing firmly in place. A fantastic solution to a difficult problem. Overall Thoralf impressed me with his creativity and welding skills and I learned a lot about metal work during the railing project from him. His creation is the first thing you see when you open the front door and that railing makes a fantastic first impression, and definitively helped sell the house. I highly recommend him for any renovation or repair...a good, honest, friendly guy who you can trust !

  • It DID NOT go as anticipated. Originally, a quote was sent to me via text based on pictures I provided. Once they were physically here, they doubled the amount of labor costs despite the fact that they still planned on doing the job in the same amount of time. I was told that the job would not take more time because they had another appointment immediately following. My invoice was going from $165 to $395 with parts and labor. When I brought this up and asked why the labor doubled when the timeframe was the same, Gina reacted negatively instantaneously. She said that this was the cost and if I didn't like it, they would just pack up and leave. I thought that I should have been able to at least ask a question and get an answer but instead Gina was arrogant and condescending.

  • Robbie was a life saver, as I wasn't sure how I was going to deal with the filing the two doors. He let me know the glass door didn't have a real lock but he could put one in to match my front door. He even suggested which glass door would be best (I have three.) He was very personable, friendly, helpful, and willing to do the extra job that suddenly came up without a fuss. He spent a few hours making sure he covered all the bases and that I was satisfied. He even phoned me cause he saw me lingering at the front door lock when he was pulling away to make sure everything was okay. (I was actually trying to take the combination key lock off the door which had nothing to do with the work he did.) You can imagine how exhausted my husband and I are with this big move, and to have someone come in and take something unexpected off our list with such attention to detail was just amazing! I will without a doubt recommend Harvey's services to anyone.

  • Bill showed up on time, tore down the tiling and replaced it with sheetrock. He was very thorough in explaining what he was doing and left me voicemails when I was unable to answer my phone. He was also able to respond via text message. He also installed 2 cat doors for us. His estimate was very accurate to his end cost.

  • Jerry did a nice job at tearing down my old basement steps and replacing them with new ones.  He also did a little electrical and carpentry work in my basement.  He was on time and appears to be a nice, friendly person.

  • I was getting ready to move and things kept disappearing.  They must have taken $1000 worth of stuff.  When I accused him, he said "Oh, I thought you were going to throw these out!"  He said he'd bring them back, but he never did.  When I confronted him again, he said that I gave it to him.  They steal from senior citizens.  I reported them to police.

  • They did a terrible job on the work, over-charged me, and stole from me.

I noticed the technician (Frank) starting to do things his way instead of my way. He was a very threatening and vicious person-- I felt he took advantage of me when I was upset as I was recuperating from stress and he picked up my washing machine and let it drop so my machine now rattles.

They came back out to look at the work, sympathized and agreed with me that the quality was poor. The main thing is that their behavior toward me was menacing.
