  • I contacted Albert's Transportation about 6 weeks before my scheduled cruise on the Carnival Splendor leaving from the NY City Cruise Terminal in Manhattan to make reservations.  The reservation included the transportation to and from the Cruise Terminal in Manhattan.  Pickup was at 8:30am at my home in Haddon Heights.  We arrived in NY in about an hour and a half, however the traffic was brutal approaching the Cruise Terminal area.  Our driver Pat Lubin was very professional and an excellent driver.  He was familiar with the area and dropped us off very close to our pier.  He both loaded our luggage and unloaded it from the van.  The van was very clean and comfortable.  All of our ages were over 65 and his assistance was welcome.  Pat said that he wasn't sure who was picking us up for the return trip and pointed out where a good spot would be and how to identify the spot.

    Our return trip was better than I expected.  The pier area was very crowded as buses were loading and unloading.  I contacted Albert's before debarking the ship to confirm our pick up etc.  I was informed the Pat Lubin would again be our driver and I was given his phone number.  I contacted Pat when we got our luggage and he informed me that he was in NY about 20 minutes from the pier.  As he got closer I  contacted him again and gave him our exact location.  He contacted me again as he was pulling into the bus lane where drop-off and pick-up occur.  He loaded our luggage and returned us safely home. 

    Our experience with Albert's was very positive.  I would do business with them again and I would recommend their service.

  • Two separate issues and stories, but the $260.00 covered both repairs:
    I recently dropped my iPad 3 while walking - it bounced off the sidewalk, dented (badly) two corners and cracked the screen. It was still usable, but the glass made it hard to read some areas of the screen.
    Second, I needed to replace the fans in my MacBook Pro and ended up removing many more things than necessary. Years ago I would have been able to put this back together myself, but with an "essential tremor" that gets worse every year, I found that I just couldn't manage the little tiny ribbon cables anymore.
    I found UR Gadget Doctors on line and decided to give them a try. Went over on a Saturday afternoon, told them what I needed done and they were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They didn't even laugh when I showed them the laptop - at least while I was there :)
    My iPad was repaired that same day; it took about an hour and all was well. I guess I didn't think through that there would not be genuine Apple parts available, so the new case doesn't have a "push-in" button. It doesn't bother me, but it certainly isn't as responsive as the original. It sometimes takes me two or three pushes to get it to do what I want (of course this could be related to the aforementioned tremor).
    The MacBook was finished the following Monday and the cost was quite reasonable. I was happy with the results and the amount of time everything took.

  • Most of my interaction with Anthony Party Rentals were fine, however there was one major problem and they way they suggested to resolve it has made me decide not to do business with them again.
    My wife and I were recently married in St. Croix and decided to throw a party for our friends and relatives.  Our yard was big enough, but we needed a few things, like chairs and tables.
    One item I rented was a 6 foot long, 8 burner propane grill.  I have a nice 2 burner grill, but cooking hot sausage, chicken, dogs and burgers for 70+ people would not work.  
    The grill, along with everything else, was delivered during the time window we had agreed upon.  The two guys working the truck were nice and easy to deal with.  The grill came shrink wrapped, but they didn't offer to take it off and I didn't think to check it.
    The next morning, I set up the grill and noticed  two problems: the grill was covered with grease, inside and out and the burners were so rusted as to be mostly unusable.  One burner had a hole in it over an inch wide, where all the flame came from, bypassing the rest of the jets.  Other burners were rusted over in spots so that the flame was not consistent across the burner.
    I tried using it anyway, but gave up after my wife noticed electrical tape wrapped around the propane line, apparently covering a leak.  This concerned her enough that she asked me not to use it.
    I ended up using my other grill, but I spent almost the entire party cooking instead of enjoying the time with our guests.
    I went out of town for a few days, but when I returned I wrote to Anthonys to complain.  I explained the situation and left it up to them to decide what, if anything, they could or would do.
    Here is their response:

    "I apologize for any inconvenience with the grill.  After speaking with my manager, we would like to extend a 20% discount on your next order with us.  Enjoy your 4th of July and I look forward to working with you again."

    They could have said that if I "called Saturday and complained that they would have refunded my money, but since I didn't there wasn't much they could do".  I would have accepted that answer, but instead they offered a discount for my next order.
    Next order?  They sent defective, dangerous equipment to me, and I should place my next order with them hoping they won't do it again?  Thanks anyway, Anthony.  
    Looking back on the experience, I remembered several little things wrong with the items they sent.  By themselves, it would not have bothered me that some of the chairs were old and had tape covering holes or that the 42 gallon trash cans I thought I was renting for $7.00 turned out to be disposable cardboard containers with a plastic liner that I purchased for $12.00 (the price was on the contract, but it differed from their catalog).
    All in all, I would say they don't want to, or cannot afford to, replace their worn out equipment.  I will try someone local next time.

  • I called the company to have them come multiple times and noone ever responded to my call. Eventually I had to call Angie's list to have my big deal refunded. What a waste of time, if they had even called me to say that they were overwhelmed with orders, it would have made a difference. But there was no reply and everytime I called I got transferred to a voice mail that was never returned.

  • I've been going to her for a long time.  Michelle Candia is the person who owns it and is my hair dresser too.  I've been using her service for the last ten years.  She's very good.  In some salons you get a feeling that you should get dressed up and wear makeup when going there but this one is far more casual.  People are normal here and they are just very nice.  They are very accommodating and it's a non threatening sort of life which is important to me.  I would recommend them.  It's not overly expensive and you're not paying for this fantastic building with all these lights that other salon's have.  Basically they do a really good job and I don't find it terribly expensive.  The people there are all very nice and friendly.  It's a very warm place.  I really haven't that much of experience in other places because I've been going to them for years.  I've never had to wait.  In fact I'm going back on January 1st.

  • THE VERIZON SERVICE PEOPLE WERE FRIENDLY IN A MEMORIZED WAY. THEY PROVIDED ONLY STOCK AND USELESS ANSWERS TO OUR QUESTIONS. REGARDLESS OF OUR PLEADING, THEY WERE VERY INFLEXIBLE. WE FINALLY REPORTED THEM TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES.

  • THE MAN WHO DID THE WORK WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. THE SUPPORT STAFF WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND THEY ALL WORKED TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY SERVICE. WHEN INSTALLATION WAS COMPLETE, THE ONLINE SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD.
