Sent this contractor an email with photographs of my crumbling steps. He responded very quickly (almost immediately) and indicated that my entire porch would need to be removed to ground level and rebuilt from scratch. Did not even visit my location and provided a sight unseen estimate of nearly $5000. Would not even entertain just replacing the bricks and re pointing the existing masonry.

Excellent. Rejuvenated the complete front, first view of my house. I was undecided as to with what materials to replace existing front porches. I was invited to meet with owner at an independent stone yard to look at actual material and suggestions to use. I had my choice of what the final stones would be, including a mixed blend. Price to include rebuilding 2nd front porch steps and landing in cement, removing pre-existing broken bricks/steps. Chris and Dean were very professional and knowledgeable in the completion of my project. They also included an extra add-on I asked for with no hesitation.

We had a septic leak in our basement and had a septic company come out and look at our septic tank.  They said an underground pipe was broken and recommended Scott Lutzky come out to fix it.  I was horrified but followed their advice (part of me wondered if I was being fleeced).  Well, Scott came out that very day and looked around and answered my many questions including "what if its not broken?", "how do we really know if its broken?", "do we have to remove our pavers?", "what alternatives are there to removing the pavers?".  He came to my basement and looked around at all my sewer pipes and gave me a few options to think about.  He was able to explain it all to me in terms I could understand.  A few hours later, after discussing with my husband, I called Scott and told him to start the job.  He started about a day or two later and was done in two days.  They had to remove many of my pavers and dug a hole about 2ft deep and 4ft long.  The worker who removed the pavers was careful and none were broken.  He showed me where the break was which was very important to me - once I saw the break I knew this guy and the septic company were good people.  He told me what needed to be done to get the pipe fixed/replaced and he added rocks to the bottom of the pipe so this wouldn't happen again (apparently when the pipe was first put in it was on dirt and it sank after all these years). When the work was done all the dirt they dug out was put back in the hole and they left it as clean as they could considering the situation.  I am very, very happy with the service.  I would definitely call him again (although I hope to never have sewer problems again!).  I would only recommend that Scott clean out his voicemails because I called him a few times and his voicemail was full - however, I texted him and that worked.

This was impressive professionalism.  The estimate was done promptly, and checked a second time on site at my request to avoid surprises. They showed up on the day they said, and were prompt in the morning.  The rip-out didn't disturb any of the surrounding brick walkways, stone walls, grass or plantings.  The re-grading was done using a transit, with the owner operating the bobcat equipment, to make sure the swale was precise and sculpted to fit well with existing surrounds.  The paving itself was done by a large and experienced crew that converged in the afternoon, orchestrated by the owner, and then tested for proper run-off.  The site was left clean and clear of any debris.  Subsequent heavy rain proved the installation.  The price was about 30% higher than a competitor, but the scope of work for the same square footage was superior, and the end result was artistry.

He was great! he had a good reputation and stuck to his price. He had to take a fence down and put it back up. He made sure the yard was perfect when he left. He kept us informed the entire time. It was great!

    Quality 1st Basements
The gentleman who took my call was very polite and informed me that Quality 1st Basements could provide an estimate on the floor replacement in approximately one month. However, he said while they could "take a look" at the drainpipe, they really don't do "external waterproofing." I explained this was a basement drainpipe which did lead outside and he confirmed this was not a service they typically provide. I decided not to seek the estimate due to the wait but I wanted to logged the comments on the drain as it seems at odds with the description of their services on Angie's list.
