Radon Testing reviews in Edison

We hired him to inspect a 50 year old Home. As it was an old home, we took all the Inspections he recommended. He may be knowledgable but we don't recommend him to any one. He arrived on time. We didn't understand what he was talking on the day of Inspection as he spoke too fast and no room to ask questions. He recorded most into his tape recorder. As a new home buyer our knowledge is very limited and it was very hard to follow what he was talking and difficult to take notes as he quickly moves here and there with out giving proper explanation of the issue. He offered free Home Hazard exam and he verbally informed that home is free of Hazard. We didn't even knew what he looked for that. Nothing in written for Home Hazard exam. Well he did send me the detailed Home Inspection Report. But lack of proper explanation and photos, it is difficult to understand for first home buyers. So we called him again asking to explain the Inspection report and he rejected to explain; saying that he did explained the problems on the day of Inspection. The thing I didn't like in his report was insufficient description of the problem and the total absence of photos from the report. Another thing I didn't like he doesn't have enough patience to listen you and just tells what he feels which a first time Home buyer can't understand. For most of the issues he wrote as "consult seller", "monitor for future" which doesn't make sense. The lead inspector which come with Dave was good and explained what he did. May be Dave is good as a coach to other Home Inspectors as per his site, but not to first time home buyers!!! All this resulted in improper negotiation with the Seller.
Update: 10/2/2013: Do you still prefer this Inspector after seeing his response? Not at all.

    DM Home Inspections LLC
Joe was very professional, showed up 10-15 mins early and started looking at the outside before I got there, was very detailed and took me on both small  and big issues with his personal opinion on what it would take to repair and if its a big deal or not. Thoroughly enjoyed his opinions & advise....would recommend him anyday. In fact, the seller of the house was so impressed with DM Inspections that he would hire them to look at the house he is moving into. Top class professional service.

    RAdata Inc
This company was selected by the home seller to provide a quote for the cost of installing a radon remediation system that would be used to determine the amount of credit applied to the home sale price. This was part of negotiation of issues discovered during home inspection. I discussed the qoute with RAdata and they were aware of how it was being used and therefore the need for accuracy. They completed the work but added a $250 charge to the estimate amount for additional electrical work that based on my conversation with the technician should have been either part of the estimate or at least specified as being likely to be needed. I contacted the company and told them my displeasure about this and as an answer was told they would try to do better explaining or quoting to future customers. This obviously does me no good.

Phil climbed up to the roof to check the shingles and chimney! Not every inspector does that. Just for that I give him five A
