Siding reviews in East Hanover

  • F
New Jersey Siding & Windows Inc.
We had a very bad experience with this
company. We had been warned by two friends not to use this company- one
had told us that they refused to deal with the female head of household and the
other friend said they made errors with the installation of their siding and
did not stay on schedule. We still went
ahead and got a quote from them and came very close to paying them to do a
massive renovation on the exterior of our home.
However, we had too many problems with them. Overall, they are unresponsible,
unprofessional, extremely overpriced, unreliable and do not proceed in a timely
fashion. Anyone should be hesitant to
use them. We even gave them a chance to
fix their errors and earn our business but they never returned our calls or
    emails.
We first reached out to them in June
2014. We told them what we wanted to do
in detail: 1) installation of whole house Anderson windows (windows to be
purchased and provided by homeowner- not included in estimate) 2) removal of
house shingles 3) installation of Tyvek housewrap 4) installation of Provia
Arbor Glen dutch lap Vinyl Siding, 5) wrapping porch columns with aluminum 6)
Construction of portico and 7) adding shutters, dentil molding, and window
crossheads to front of house. A
salesperson named Paul came out and was very nice. He was at our home over 2 hours and told us
that because we had such a complex and detailed project that an owner named Jim would call us by the end of the week to
schedule a day and time to come and meet with us. We never received any calls or emails. The following week we called them to
followup. Jim said that he didn't want to
come out to our home to prepare an estimate unless he was sure we were serious
about doing this work to our home. He
said he would give us a ballpark figure and if we liked it he would come
out. We told him that we were of course
pricing around but if he wanted our serious consideration we needed a real
number, not a ballpark that had a $20,000 plus or minus range. He
said he would call us back to schedule an appointment. We never heard from him.
A few days later we called him and
scheduled an appointment with his secretary.
He came out and sat with us for over 2 hours detailing what we
wanted. We had done a lot of research
and spoken to a lot of contractors so we knew in detail what we wanted. He said he'd have a price for us by the end
of the week. We never heard back from
    him.
The next week we called him and he said
that salesguy Paul would call us back with an estimate. He called us back with a quote of
$47,000. We said we would consider their
estimate along with the others we were still waiting for and get back to him. Two weeks later we followed up with
Paul. We said that they were very
overpriced and wanted to know how much better they could do. It took the company over a month to give us an initial estimate.
Jim called us back 3 days later and only
dropped $3,000 off the price. Compared
to other quotes from very reputable contractors this was very high but we liked
Paul's presentation and were going to pay a little more to use them. We spoke to Jim and said that we needed a
little more off to make this work since we were already very over budget. We asked for an additional $1,000 off the
cost. He said he understood and would
call us right back. That was the last we
    heard from the company.
After another week went by and not
hearing from anyone via email or phone we sent them an email telling them how
disappointed we were in their lack of responsiveness. How can anyone use a company that doesn't
return calls when so much money is at stake?
We never heard back from them. I
cannot imagine how things would have turned out if we had hired them
considering that they can't even return calls and be punctual. Beware.

Overall the sales pitch started to feel like a high pressure used car salesman.  Loved the products.  Not a fan of the pressure.  However, we loved the product enough that we felt like we would miss out on a great opportunity to SAVE if we didn't!

I would recommend these guys to anyone who likes top quality work and products, but doesn't have a local contractor who can offer what you need.  ...just be sure you have already checked out the other guys and are ready to "buy today".

Everything has been great so far.  We are looking to include some stone elements into our "curb appeal" project.  This will include redoing the front porch and walkway, something that we would have had to wait on with the price of a competitor.

So far the salesman has been here three times, really helping us though the design process.  We have shared pictures back and forth, and he has offered some great ideas to make a nice design even better.  Their price came in significantly lower than a major competitor (even though they are using the exact same materials), and we are able to include even more aspects into this "curb appeal" project than we would have been otherwise able.
