    JMC Home Improvement Specialists
We are thrilled with our choice to use JMC for our Kitchen/living room/dining room renovation. It was a big project that changed 90% of the first floor of our home. WE LOVE IT! We were incredibly nervous to follow through with this project, especially as friends and family each had a "kitchen nightmare" story to tell. The only friend who did not have such a story was the friend who recommended JMC to me! John has truly found the gems in the industry and combined them all into one company. From the moment we met the JMC team, we knew we were making the right choice. Tammy helped us design our kitchen in a way that made the process stress free - and the design of our kitchen makes so much sense! John spent days with us fine tuning the details of the design - and getting immediate changes from the architect when we had a new idea. Jack, the job site supervisor, was clear in communicating what was next for the job and coordinating everything. And Mario, the head carpenter for our project... is an artist. Everything turned out better than we imagined. Our town inspector was even impressed by the high quality work on the electrical work! The office staff is so organized and keeps everyone going behind the scenes. Our project turned out to be better than any pinterest picture! We LOVE the way everything turned out, and it is done with QUALITY materials, and the work is done RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. We met many times to go over the designs, process, and other details before the project began. We were given a clear start date, the team started on time, AND FINISHED ON TIME! 7 WEEKS! They came every single day and worked all day! Amazing! Every person who was working in our home was a true professional, expert, and artist. We felt that everyone working on this job cared deeply to do it perfectly, and they were respectful of our home and family. The process was easy for such a big job. (well, easy on us... the team was working very hard!) . We have 2 young children, ages 5 and 2. With 2 walls being knocked down and as I said, 90% of our first floor living space out of commission - plus the basement (we also had a beam installed to move 2 columns) we were nervous. It was easy to live here and feel safe. They cleaned up everyday, sealed off the work space, and most important, were predictable! I couldn't believe how stress free the entire project was, especially after hearing horror stories from friends, coworkers and family. They are the DISNEYWORLD of home improvement. By that mean high quality service, getting it done right the first time, and wanting their customers to be 100% satisfied. They cared as much about the process as they did about the outcome. (we are huge disney fans so that is one of the highest compliments we can give). Thank you JMC for your high quality work, and caring for our home as much as we do!

    JMC Home Improvement Specialists
JMC Kitchen Remodel From project conception to completion, our experience with JMC Home Improvement Specialists of Parsippany was excellent. Every interaction with owner, office staff, site supervisor, and work crews was professional, friendly, and accommodating. Our kitchen footprint did not change, but the definitive 80s almond laminate with wood trim stock cabinets clearly needed replacement, and we got the look and quality we wanted working with this company. JMC owner John MacDougall visited our home and talked about needs, dreams, and options. A visit to the office and showroom gave us the opportunity to meet with Tammy, design expert, who expertly guided us through choices for style, materials, and colors, and soon we were scheduling the four week job to totally demolish our existing kitchen and watch the transformation to the new one. At each stage of the work, demolition, cabinet installation, tile work, plumbing and electrical, we greatly appreciated having one site manager to oversee each crew. Each morning we received a phone call to alert us to the arrival and start time of the day, and without fail, they were there. Our home was treated with care and prepared as well as possible for dust and debris, and at the end of each workday, the entire area was swept and clean when they left. As the job came to its conclusion, there was always a quick response and fix to any of our concerns or problems. At the end of it all, our project came in on time and on budget. We could not be any more pleased with our experience and would highly recommend JMC for any remodeling and construction. Bravo!

    Magnolia Home Remodeling Group
Work was done very professionally, on time, and within budget. It was a pleasure to work with Chris Fontana, who was very responsive to all requests/changes. This was a big project, with several teams participating, with a good coordination. All workers were highly professional and polite. I will definitely hire Magnolia again for a large project.

    Master Attic,LLC
I hired Master Attic to replace our attic insulation. My husband and I were noticing that our air conditioning unit was working overtime and after much investigation, we realized that our insulation was insufficient. When we called Master Attic for a quote, they promptly scheduled a time/date to come and investigate what we thought was the issue. They were not only professional, but it was clear that their expertise was in this area. They quoted us a very reasonable price and we promptly scheduled for their technicians to come and fix our insulation. Their technicians were great. They came on time, worked through the day, and cleaned up after themselves. Not only do I recommend Master Attic to my friends and family, but I also felt compelled to write this review, because I was so pleased with the process from start to finish!!!

    JMC Home Improvement Specialists
Bottom line: The project was essentially finished by 9/15 and we had a working kitchen at that point. There were a number of punch list items which were completed after that time due to the cabinet manufacturer having to replace a custom shelf because the wood didnt match the cabinets, and a couple of damaged cabinet doors. We would recommend JMC without reservation for any home project and especially any project as complicated as this one.

How did it go? Horrible! A 4 month nightmare. Contractor's employees did many things wrong, which had to be redone and sometimes redone. Contractor was not on the job daily. Contractor kept requesting more money before job was completed and town inspected. He claimed he had to pay his workers. Question - what did he do with the 2/3 of $27k plus payment? Per his contract -- 1/3 upon contracting signing, 1/3 upon job commencement. 1/3 to be paid upon completion and town final approved inspection. Town goes by state codes, which the contractor should know and should know the state codes. Contractor blamed others for his permanent employees work. Contractor, per the town, had to secure the addition to the main house. He did not make sure the roof did not leak, after the "pull together". He would not take responsibility for the leaking roof. The leak caused damage to the new construction. Eventually, a new contractor was hired to resolve the problem, which cost more money. On a daily, basis, things were done wrong, went wrong. Contractor started in July 2015, finished October 2015. A structural engineer had to be hired at my cost. Then an electrician. Unexpected costs, on a retirees income / budget. He was recommended to a neighbor, who experienced the same problems with the contractor and his permanent workers. Some jobs had to be corrected or redone. Contractor requested payment before the final town inspection / approval. Examples of work redone - contractor stated a deck footing was needed. Charged half of his expense (?). Town rejected it, because it was not the state code specified 3 ft into the ground. Pavers were installed - that night it rained heavily. The pavers sank. Contractor had a PLYWOOD retaining wall installed. After a discussion, a concrete retaining wall was installed. The side entrance door was ordered wrong, they still installed it. Inexpensive stick floor tiles were installed on an uneven sub-floor - the sub-floor had to be corrected. Vinyl siding was replaced incorrectly. Had numerous gaps, in which water could seep in. This in only a partial list. I WOULD NOT REHIRE or recommend this contractor / company

    Doctor Energy Smart Insulation Solutions
John did a great job sealing up a very leaky sill beam in some tough to get to areas. He originally quoted the job back in February, but I wasn't able to get the work done until September. John was very patient and understanding and as soon as I was able to get the job done he was here two days later ready to go. John's evaluation of what needed to be done was focused on getting the most bang for my buck unlike others who tried to upsell me everything that they could to make the house more energy efficient with no regard to diminishing returns on my dollar. When he came out for work day he was well prepared, explained everything that he was doing and provided a very professional result. He and his assistant were very careful and cleaned up well. I would strongly recommend John to my friends and neighbors and would absolutely use Doctor Energy Smart again.

    Town Remodeling, LLC.
This was a great experience. Serge responded quickly, showed up to appointment on time and all thru the repairs he delivered exactly what he said he would when he said it would be done. He and his employees are clean, professional and very considerate of us and our property. We had a list of some large and some small projects, the first were new basement stairs replacing the 100+ year old, shaky, irregular ones. Because of their condition we rarely went in the basement in the 24 years we have lived here. The stairs that were built onsite are so stable and comfortable we are now using them often, allowing us so much more storage options.
We needed exterior stairs to a new out building. I imagined a simple step but what Serge gave us was a beautiful step and deck finished off more beautifully than some "finish" work we had done inside our house by a different contractor.
Also we had 2 areas of open ceilings that needed insulation for the spaces above them, one in our basement and one in our barn, neither space is used for anything other than storage and yet the work is clean and tidy with Serge going the extra mile of adding more supports when he thought that the insulation might sag over time.
There were other minor repairs that were tended to with equal amount of detail and removal of all debris. Serge also offered to haul away anything else we had at no extra cost other than the per pound charge at the weigh station.
Material purchases were a separate expense and Serge emailed all receipts for purchases and returns ensuring an accurate and efficient  accounting system.
We already have a new "My Town" list started and are excited to finally have some issues around our 150 year old house attended to properly. We HIGHLY recommend their services.

    Safeway Development, LLC
I found water in my basement and thought a pipe had burst. I called Safeway Development and spoke to Greg. I explained the situation to him and was told he would be here in about three hours. I was really worried that my basement was going to flood and told Greg that my husband was out of town and I didn't have any idea what to do. Fifteen minutes later he called back and said he was on his way. When he got here, he inspected the area that was wet and determined a pipe had in fact burst and the water was not only coming through the ceiling but was also running along the pipe and down the inside if the wall. By removing the ceiling tiles Greg was able to replace the pipe and stop the leak. He removed the standing water that was on the floor and told me it would have been much worse if I hadn't found it when I did! He sealed the area in plastic and said he would be back tomorrow. The following day Greg came back to address the water damage that was on the wall. He sealed himself, his employee, and two big machines in with the mold. He removed the damaged sheetrock from the wall and showed me pics of mold that had formed and must have been there for a while. He removed the mold (not sure how because I was not in the basement while he did that) and told me he would be back the next day to make my basement "good as new".  When Greg came back, he replaced the sheetrock, insulation, ceiling tiles and molding and to my surprise, he had taken a piece of the wall he removed to the store with him and had the paint color matched and repainted the wall for me! He left my basement looking better than new.  Three days later I got an air quality test result from a lab Greg uses which gave me the all clear. I could not have asked for more and would highly recommend Safeway Development.

Our experience was great. Reno is never easy, but George and all of his subs made it as easy as possible. They were always on time and did what they said they were going to do. They even took extra care to accommodate our nervous cats. George's responsiveness to questions was great and he has a giant pile of patience. Although we had delays with missing parts, everything went pretty smoothly. They did everything they said they were going to do and it is clear that George cares about the quality of the work.
