    No 1 Cleaners
Bejamin is the technician. He arrived within the timeframe provided. He was personal, courteous and seems professional. I was a little concerned that the new flexible ducts installed in the remodeling last year may be damaged by the stirring device to dislodge the dust in the vent pipes. Benjamin assured me that the device will not hurt the pipes. After counting the number of ducts to be cleaned, he also inspected the blower and pointed out how dirty the blower was. He quoted me $478 for cleaning the blower, indicating that it is a lot more complicated and time consuming to clean a commercial grade blower, which is the type of blower installed in my house. Seeing how dirty the blower is, I realized that the blower was the source of dust build-up in the house, I agreed to cleaning the blower, even though the price seemed high without doing more research on what a fair price should be. To be fair, their quoted price at $299 for cleaning the vent is not bad. I just noticed that they are running a special at $199. But they didn't offer me the special to me when I first called. Perhaps for compensation, Benjamin did not charge me extra cost for additional vents above 15. He also sanitized all ducts and vents without extra charge. I was a little surprised how quickly he finished cleaning the air duct vents, probably less than 30 minutes for nearly 20 vents. I checked a few vents, they seemed cleaned but I didn't check the registers. He had a giant vacuum placed in the front yard, blowing dust from the duct system against my azalea shrub in the open air. He asked me to witness the process when he was doing so. I was curious why all the dust wasn't collected into a bag. He explain that the vacuum can operate in optimal efficiency when not attached to a bag. He said they always asked the customers if it is ok not to attach the bag to the vacuum. He might have but I don't recall. A few days later, I noticed that a few branches of the azalea shrub where the vacuum air was blowing against had dried out and died. After that, he spent the remaining 3 hours or so, cleaning the duct in the basement and the blower. I asked him to take a few pictures for me before and after he cleaned the blower. I also looked at the blower before he re-installed the blower back in place. It does look very clean. After air duct cleaning, I asked Benjamin to clean up all debris before leaving. He did remove the obvious ones. After he left, I still found debris or dust in a number of places. So I vacuumed the whole house again. Overall, I think Benjamin did a good job cleaning the air duct. It has been a week sine the cleaning. The dust doesn't seem to build up as fast as in the past. I would wait for another week or two to allow for better comparison. I think Benjamin could do a little better cleaning after the service is done, and be more cautious when blowing the vacuum air against shrubs. I would recommend No. 1 Cleaner again but be cautious of the issues I mentioned above.

Overall it went well but I do not think that I got the service for the price that I paid and that is why the B/C rating. They did not plan on how the ducts are installed and when they sent a blast of air in one of the returns, a huge plume of dust got released in our family room which was right below with my family in it (my wife and triplet babies). We had to clean up the whole room after they were done (sofa, TV, carpet, everything including our hair). Then the duct covers they removed, were not installed back correctly. I had to remove them and level them again. One place they chip the paint near a duct. I did not have the new air filter at the time the service started and the guy had told me that he will leave the filter out because it is already dirty and could dirty up the system back. The new filters were on the way and arrived by UPS just before they were finished so they installed the new filter. And after the system was started, lo and behold, the new filter caught lots of debris. So if they had left the system without filter, the debris would have gone in the heating/cooling coils unit. Another thing was the bag in their "Big Powerful Truck" (yes it was quite powerful and noisy) was torn at one end spewing some of the dust out in air. Few days later my neighbor asked if I recommend them for his house and I was candid. He did not hire them because of price and the service I got for the price.

showed up to the wrong address.  I couldn't wait for them to come to the right address as I had to go back to work. Luckily I had my painter and contractor there. They showed about at the correct address and did what I had hired them to do. Only negative aside from showing up at the wrong address is they tried to up sell me on a new coil. He said it would be 175 to clean the coil and 225 to disassemble the unit and put it back together. I hired them to just clean it. My father called him back to find out what was going on and when my dad said if it needed to be done to do it but leave the coil to show it needed to be replaced he said it didn't. So why try to charge me for it? Not cool. But at the end of the day my vents were cleaned .

I had a very difficult time getting anyone to even agree to replace my ductwork.  I had 3 or 4 other contractors look at the job and decline.  I had recently had demolition and renovation in my house, and that crew (Dasa Design Build) had allowed the demolition debris to go down a duct -- so the dust and filth from 1949, when the house was built, were spraying all over my house.  Jack Lamb (co-owner) didn't even flinch when I asked him to replace the ductwork. He gets a lot of extra points for that willingness.

When assessing the job, he was very attentive to my wishes and concerns, unfortunately he did not communicate them all to his foreman, so some rework had to be done, eg one long run was hung too low and had to be moved up flush with the ceiling.

After work began, I realized he was installing some very cheap product (up to code, but not what I thought I would be getting).  It was "flexible" ductwork (a mouse could chew through it), and I thought I was getting my metal ducts replaced.  Apparently, most customers around here are more worried about price than quality. So I surmised Jack was trying to be considerate.  Anyhow, they stopped work, (made me wait a week without being able to use the system), ordered the metal ducts, and proceeded to do a fairly good job.

The crew was largely inexperienced (eg, they broke the humidistat and had to replace it, they had to cut an extra hole in the shiny new metal and tape up the mistake hole with ugly wrinkled metal tape, they did not know how to adjust the sheath on the Reme Halo according to specs, the toe kick is not centered under my kitchen sink).  One of the electricians was extremely rude (downright flip).  The foreman was very cranky and non-communicative.  And, there were multiple stops and starts while Jack learned what it was I was really willing to purchase to address my needs (the job was scheduled to take 1 or 2 weeks, but took a month).

Since all the vent and return registers were to be replaced, I kept having to pull my furniture away from the wall and put it back each time they went away and made me wait.  Some of the holes in the wall where the registers go were left open and were large enough for my little dog to get into and fall down the chute.  I ended up covering them myself with foil and painter's tape, and finally gave up moving the furniture back to where it belonged; so it was all out of place and I was tripping over it for a couple or few weeks.  I kept expecting that the next time they returned they would put the new registers on, but that was the very last thing to happen.  I'm not sure why they didn't just leave the old registers on until the end.  So, that seemed to be poor planning and was certainly an avoidable inconvenience.

On the last of work, I found the electrician using my vacuum.

At the end of the day (and only because I insisted) Jack inspected the work and made the crew fix whatever was done improperly; the air in my house is no longer making me sick.  It isn't as smooth and pretty as a proud craftsman would prefer, but it all works fine.  I would say that if you use this company, you will have to work very hard at communicating with them, you might expect to be unnecessarily personally inconvenienced, and you will have to follow them around and make sure they are doing what you want.  However, on the other hand, I do believe Jack aimed to please, and he is very economical with resources and expenses, so the price is extremely fair. I will use this company again (so I don't have to break in anyone else); in the end, they finally understood what was important to me.

I especially love my new Reme Halo (thanks for recommending this, Jack -- I had never heard of this product before), and I highly recommend it to anyone concerned about the quality of their indoor air.

Orlando was my serviceman and he showed up right on time.  He explained everything he was doing and showed me the dryer vent after he cleaned it.  He was professional and did the job within 3 hours. He worked efficiently and left my house as clean as when he arrived. I was very happy with the service provided and would use them again. Best of all: no surprises with price!

The service provider called me to confirm the visit. I am very happy with the phone contact that I had before the actual service. Two nice men , Justin and Brian, showed up on time at our place to do the duct cleaning.. Justin and Brian , we were courteous. They did what they were supposed to do... They cleaned almost every heating duct . there were like 20 of them.. and they cleaning everything. They were sensitive enough to make sure they didnt rip open vents which have been screwed too tight... After the job got over, the guys cleaned every thing, what ever they were supposed to clean. I am overall happy with the guys... but my husband really wished David could have come.. like for 10 mins.. As a new home owner he could have answered a lot of his questions and perhaps earned some more of our business . Anyways... i am happy with Justin and Brian... very nice guys.

Initial contact was within a very reasonable amount of time.  Discussed service and scheduled a date.  The technicians arrived on time and  explained what was going to be done.  They were professional, polite and extremely neat.  Everything was left very clean and our house now smells very fresh.  I would definitely use NJ Air again and would recommend them highly.

I called and scheduled an appt for Saturday. I was the first appointment and they sent a young guy named Rob. He was extremely professional. He showed up right on time and got right to work after answering a few of my questions. He explained everything he was doing as he was doing it and was very thorough on how i should maintain them going forward. He worked for about two hours and as soon as we turned the heat back on you could smell the difference in the air quality. I immediately referred my father-in-law to him. I also plan to use them for general cleanings in the future. They are only a little more expensive than other places but worth every penny. Thank you so much Rob.
