Insulation reviews in Carteret

My home needed new heating & cooling. Plus the upstairs was always too hot in the summer. Building Sciences was the only company to put together a total solution for me. I was able to qualify for the NJ Clean Energy program. I cant say enough for how the office kept me informed all along the process. Installs were quick and on time. They even cleaned up after themselves every day. I got an Amana system, and while the temperature differences are not 100% solved, they are substantially better. I fully recommend Building Sciences to anyone who needs heating, cooling or insulation.

It went great. Gary quickly identified the issues with the frozen pipe and fixed it so it wont happen again. The prior contractor I used left a portion of my wall with no thermal break and the pipes froze so bad he had to replace them. Now that Gary fixed it I am sure it wont happen again.
He also replaced a faucet, repaired damage in the plaster of a celling and recaulked my bathroom. The faucet looks great and works perfect. The celling looks brand new, and the bathroom looks 100 times better than it did.
Good contractors are hard to find. I will have no problem calling Gary again the next time something breaks.

It went great from the initial contact, determining the type of insulation that would be best, until the job completion. They came on time and stayed until the job was finished. They used superior materials and were very professional. I was extremely satisfied with the work done. And would recommend him whole heartedly.

I want to start this review by saying I am a meticulous person and I do my research to know exactly what I want. That being said I feel I also take the time to specifically communicate the work I want done so there is no confusion. In the end, I know what I want, I state what I want, and if you agree to my specifications, I expect what I wanted will be completed.

I first got an estimate from a different company but on the reccomendation from my HVAC company, I went with building sciences. They came out and gave their recommendations, but it seemed to be a less comprehensive solution than the first company would have provided. It may have given the same overall result, but it didn't address my specific concerns. I wanted them to provide the exact specs the first company recommended and they agreed to it.

Then I got the contract for the work, and none of it was outlined correctly. I had to have them come back out and go over what I wanted again. At that point Neal assured me I would receive the updated outline in two days. Four days later I still had not received the new outline. I then called my HVAC company (who was acting as a GC) to complain, and finally Rashid the owner came out (third visit) and we went over everything together. A week later I received the proper outline.

At several points leading up to the start date, I made it clear that I needed all work to start on Monday and be completed by Friday. They assured me it would be "at most" three days.

They started right away on Monday and everything went well.

Thier workers were knowledgable and hard working. They were very respectful of my property and my family when they were around. I was extremely satisfied with Migel and his crew. They were the highlight of the whole process.

Neal and Rashid were on site in the first two days and it all seamed to be going well, until the third day....

On Wednesday they told me they couldn't finish in the three days they planned. I again reminded them that is fine but I need it to be completed in 5 days. Neal agreed, then came back in to tell me they can't work on Thursday because they have other work scheduled. (I don't understand why the other person was a priority over my job). Neal assured me it's only a couple hours of work, so we agreed that they will be done by noon.

Based of Neal's assurance that they will be done by noon I made plans in the afternoon. That was a mistake. At two o'clock I informed Neal that it's now 2 and I will give him to three and I need to leave, I already changed my plans once and I can't push it any later. Needless to say they didn't finish by 3.

I informed them I would be taking them to court for breach of contract. I called the financing company to inform them to withhold payment, and also called my GC to inform them of the situation.

I received a call back from Amy at the GC office and she talked me into letting them come on Saturday to finish. I said they have from 12 to 5 on Saturday to finish.

If I were them I would be sure to be here and ready to go at noon on Saturday. They showed up an hour late. They did finish the work by 5.

Once they were gone I noticed they had not completed one of the things I specifically asked for (caulking around my windows) but at that point I just wanted to be done with them.

In the end I am happy with the work that got done, and I am happy with the workmanship. There were mishaps, but that should be expected in any construction job, and they always corrected it. Everyone was nice and polite even when things did not go well.

Their main issue was doing the things they commit to. In my mind good customer service is to underpromise and overdeliver. They got that backwards just too many times.

John, from American Home Remodeling, from the start was punctional and prepared to answer our questions. With his laptop, he showed samples  of work done to other homes. He worked with us and always returned our calls to answering our concerns. The contracts were signed on 6/7/14 and all work was completed by 7/4/14. The time between the contract signing and work completed included  time needed to custom make the windows and order the siding. We found the price of the work a little more then anticipated, but have no regrets, after work was done. John subcontracted the window installation and had his own crew  to install the vinyl siding. The window subcontractor installed the windows the same day it was delivered, which worked out like clock work. They installed the windows in half a day among 3 workers, which I thought was going to take several days. They disposed of the old windows and  cleaned up afterwards. Two of three days later, the siding arrived.  Another crew which works directly for American Home Remodeling came the next day of delivery. A crew of 4 workers installed the siding. They took about four full days to install the siding and more day to install the gutters. They did quality work and I would recommend this provider to any of my friends. They secure all permits, as they fully insured and have the proper contractor licenses in NJ. Also, they returned when we had a punchlist after the construction.
