Tile Installation reviews in Butler

    Degen Tile LLC
I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to recommend Tom to anyone looking to have tile work done in their home. Tom installed a ceramic backsplash in my kitchen and I'm so pleased with the job. Tom is a true professional with excellent work ethics. He arrived at my house on time, at 8:00, and didn't leave until the job was complete. The finished backsplash looks fantastic and its exactly as the picture I showed him. I couldn't be happier with Tom's work. I would not hesitate to use him again. Thanks again Tom!

great job........ He did the demolition and total overhaul of the bathroom, with a good paint job, nice installation of toilet, shower, vanity, plumbing, and ceramic tile; nice finish. He did very good work, worked efficiently, and the price was reasonable too. I would highly recommend him.

    Universal Renovation Consultants
I purchased a coupon off of Angie's list for a backsplash for $499. After picking out tile from Home Depot and scheduling the appointment a man from Universal Renovation Consultants came to install. He tried to begin but his saw was not working to cut the tile he hung around for two hours waiting to get direction from the office as what to do. They ended up rescheduling someone else to come out. A few days later two different men came and looked at what needed to be done, only to tell me they didn't have the correct tools. They left, having to reschedule a third time. The next week two new men came again without the correct tools. They felt bad and left to get what they needed to begin the job. It took them a day to complete, but it finally was begun. The next day as I am getting ready for work I get a phone call that the contractors are at my house to grout the tile. Never receiving notice a phone call or email from the office I had to call out of work sick to meet them so they could complete the job. When all was said and done upon looking at the competed backsplash I discovered a cracked tile by the sink outlet. It has been such a headache dealing with this company I chose just to leave it, I couldn't afford to take a fourth day off of work to accommodate them. I would not use Universal Renovation Consultants again. The communication is terrible within the company and with its customers. The workers are all extremely nice and polite, it's a shame they have to deal with such unorganized management. I guess you get what you pay for, needless to say I won't be purchasing anymore Angie's list coupons.

I called him 2 wks. prior to him coming out for an estimate.  First thing he said was I'm very busy & wouldn't be able to do any work until the end of Sept.  I said o.k. can you come out for an estimate.  He took my number & never called.  I called again & he did come out on 8/22/14.  Took some measurements of our tub area, we wanted it tiled.  He said he'd send us an estimate & to date, 9/23/14, we have never received anything, nor do we expect to.  Very disappointed since he had very good ratings.  If he didn't want the job, thought it was too small or he was just too busy, he could have at least communicated that.

The technicians are experts in their field, very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to work with. They removed our old countertop, backsplash, sink & faucet, and cleaned up thoroughly as they were working. The work was performed on time, at the price set upon in the contract and we are thrilled. We will definitely use them for any future renovations.

The finished project exceeded our expectations.  Hans Kitchens ordered the new formica countertop and we supplied the stainless steel sink, faucet and tile.  Their technicians are professional, courteous, and experts in their field.  They were neat and tidy, and helped us design the backsplash.  Don stopped by every day to see how the work was coming along.  The job was completed on time, and at the contracted price.  We would call them again for any kitchen or bath renovations.

Overall, I would rate him very highly. I do my work generally mostly myself but I am not an expert in everything. I have a small little foyer like about 130 square feet including a closet. Not a lot of work to be done there. I got estimates of like 700, 950, 1,000 etc and he came in at 1,500. I actually went with him. He was the most expensive. So he is 50% higher than the next guy. I was supplying all tiles, I was even going to supply some of the cement. If you are going to pay 1,500 dollars, you do not expect a good job, you expect almost a perfect job for that price range, and the reason we went with him is that he was saying that he felt that he was going to do a more precise job and a better job than the others. What he wind up doing was putting down an under laminate but then also putting a lace on top of that. You are stomping down a middle like a metal wire mesh then you put the mortar down and then your tile. I actually spent a huge amount of time reinforcing underneath that which made this floor really solid. You have one tile that is 1 foot square and the other ones were 2x1 foot and so you had to put the 1 foot in the center and you had to line those up. I tried to explain to him that middle tile got to be precisely 11.5 of an inch from the edges and he started just doing it and just doing it by eye. I said no, once you get this first one right, the rest is all going to line up. If I was not there, it would not had been done correctly. He still snap a line by eye which is pretty good for about 95%. Some tiles a little bit high like a 0.8 inch high and the width was not perfect on a couple of them. I mean overall, the job was excellent, but again we are talking 50% more. So I do not know if I would use him again even though overall I would give him a B+. The bottom line is, he was expensive but I think he did a pretty good job. If you were not there, it would not have come out right.

    Joe The Handyman
Joe the Handyman did a fair job. He was on time and spent quality time here listening what we wanted to do. He did not write up a formal estimate. He just gave us an estimate off the top of his head for a ballpark figure. He took a lot of measurements but did not seem like he did a lot of work with kitchens in the past.

They did a horrendous job. They were contracted through a house cleaning service I hired to clean up a boiler leak. They were only there for 20 minutes I'm told. They didn't clean under the registers nor did they get the stains off the floor. The ladies from the house cleaning service ended up cleaning the entire floor and got all the stains out. I would not recommend them nor use their services again.
