Arrived on time started work he had trouble removing curbing and told my handicaped son to tell me to call him when I got home from work which I did. He started screaming at me for no reason about how he couldn't cut out curbing like he said he would do because he didn't have the right tools and it was taking too long. He was yelling so loud his own child was crying in the background. He cut the curb at street level and broke off top of blocks to make the opening. When they installed the new blocks along driveway not enough concrete was used to hold them and 2 years later 12 blocks came out which I had to reinstall them myself and also the stones used in the blacktop are coming out leaving small holes in the driveway. So if you want a contractor that shows up on time , screams at the homeowner for no reason and have a driveway that doesn't last you got the right guy

    Better Paving Corp

The job did not go well.  I should have known when Michael took days to return my calls for an estimate.  He came out to our home, and did seem very knowledgeable.  We told him what we wanted and he ordered all of the materials.  His crew arrived at 8 AM and started to work immediately.  Again, his crew seemed very knowledgeable.

The retaining wall/flower box is a joke.  I could have done a better job.  When I showed Michael, he said "well, I only charged you $500 for the wall.  I said, Oh, now I understand, if I had paid $1,000, I would have gotten a nice wall.  He said, no I just wanted you to feel better that it only cost $500.  Great answer!!

There was so much mortar on the bricks, that I spent an hour power washing it off.  They should have acid washed before drying. The mess in front of our house is unbelievable.  All of his equipment leaks, and they left a trail of oil and power steering fluid from one end of the street to the other.  I spent over $100 on everything from baking soda, to Foam WD40 on the stains and again, spent at least two hours power washing the street!  Oh, and did I mention the footprints of blacktop that they left in the new concrete pads for the driveway?  Another hour power washing the boot prints out of the new concrete.

Now on to the driveway paving - what a horrible job.  The driveway was pitched down by the back gate and we now have a huge puddle where the sidewalk behind the gate meets the black top in the driveway - and not a little water, ducks could take a bath in it.  There are also several low spots that puddle.

When they were done, I went out to look, and they left the mouth of the driveway all jagged.  I asked why it wasn't straight and that I wanted it straight.  I told the crew that I would talk with Michael when he came by for his check.  They did not listen to me, and got their saw and cut out the jagged edges.  They proceeded to take what blacktop they had to fill it in and heated it with a propane tank and torch.  As a matter of fact, they ran out of propane and had to use mine.  The comment of a guy named Norman? Hurry up guys it's my birthday and I want to go home.

Michael offered to fix, and we refused.  I did have to contact another provided to come and look at and hoping they can fix our mess.

The pictures will speak for themselves.

John promptly set up an appointment to meet with us, showed up on time, was very friendly, respectful, and courteous, stayed in contact with us regarding the scheduled work, gave us a fair price for the large area that he covered with stamped concrete, and did a very nice job.  It was a very good experience and I would definitely hire him again.  John takes pride in his work and is a genuine good person.

    H & R CONCRETE CONTRACTORS
I called Mr. Luis Rodriguez of H & R Concrete for an estimate on my back steps and he returned my call same day. He came to my house a few days later to go over the repairs needed. I found Luis to be very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I agreed to the price and the work that needed to be done. Luis was very reassuring that the work area would be kept clean and that the steps would look like new. He started work the next day. When I saw the finished steps I could not have been happier. They looked brand new when actually it was a repair. The work area was spot less he even had swept the adjoining patio clean. I highly recommend H & R Concrete and would not hesitate to call them again.

It was great, he did a great job.  When they started the job , they knocked it off .  They worked.  They are reasonable price-wise, they didn't go crazy with their fifty percent down.  They let you feel comfortable with them, does things before he even asks for money.

I was flooded during Sandy which destroyed the hardwood floors and carpeting in my first floor. My first floor is a concrete slab so after ripping out all the flooring , sheetrock and insulation, appliances ,furniture ect and going through the entire remediation process I had time to consider alternatives going forward. I looked at various options on flooring and was really intrigued by the stained concrete concept. I made a number of inquiries without much success when a large commercial operation suggested I contact Garage and Beyond ( Now going by G&B ) as they were a good outfit and the size and scope of my job might work for them.
I contacted them and left a message and heard back from them the very same day.  Matt Fontana called me and followed up with an e mail suggesting he visit my house and get the process started. In the simplest terms Matt took the project , became a partner in helping me decide what I wanted to do with the space. He gave me a variety of alternatives, provided client locations where I could view their work and was always available to answer any question I had. After I decided on the type of floor I told Matt I would like to imbed a decorative compass rose in the floor. He thought that was great . I sent him a couple of ideas he sent me back a compass rose that was exactly what I had in mind. Next thing was the color these guys achieve the color by blending off various dyes and since all concrete floors are somewhat  different it's an art. I choose Payne's grey a dark blue -grey color and clearly not off the rack. Matt said no problem we will lay out some samples on the floor until we get what you want. Well they nailed it perfect. The compass rose came out great it was hand drawn and then saw cut into the floor. When I asked to have the compass offset in a white outline rather than grey Matt told me no problem we will change it for you. The floor came out great!! My neighbors love it so if you like something a bit different and edgy
this is an option for you. For me that look and the fact it's waterproof is a home run although hoping I don't put it to the test.
One of their greatest strengths is that they use their experience in helping you to make decisions so your input is critical to the process but you have help . They want the customer to be satisfied and have a passion for what they are doing. I met with Matt's partner Fernando as well as one of the owners they are committed to your satisfaction. Also his crew were very professional and polite and a pleasure to deal with. I would suggest anything it would be that you tent off the area you are grinding. Similar to when you work with sheetrock there is always going to be some dust. That said they left the place spotless each day. Hope this helps these are good people and if you are looking for this type of contractor you will be in good hands.

The crew showed up on a Wednesday 9am to remove and repave the driveway. The old driveway was thick slab that had seen it's better days. All work was done by very early afternoon. The workers clean up as the work went along.  We love the new driveway

The masonry crew came out at 9am the next day (Thursday) to remove an old garage wall and replace the wall. The three man crews work was amazing. The work was complete by late afternoon.

They responded quickly to my first phone call and set up a meeting. They gave me a thorough explanation of the process. We discussed the expansion of the driveway entrance and the curving of the upper portion of the driveway. Once the cement base was installed we met again and made a few changes to the shaping of the edges of the upper driveway. They were great throughout the entire process, they really know what they are doing.

    Taylor Brothers Contracting LLC
Taylor assured us he was well qualified to do the job. During the excavation, it was obvious he was not skillful with the backhoe, cracking our cement driveway in many places and allowing a broken hydraulic line to spray fluid all over our driveway. During the digging of the foundation, it was obvious he and his helper did not know how to use a transit or a level. When the foundation blocks started cracking, he didn't seem to be concerned. When he decided to go against the mason's and our disapproval of his decision to pour the cement floor on already frozen ground with the weather report forecasting below freezing temps for the next few days, a VERY loud argument went on between Mr Taylor and his mason. Taylor won the argument with his temper. The slab froze. It flaked and cracked severely and varied between 1 and 6 inched in depth. He assumed no responsibility. We kicked him off the job site and said good buy to our $24,000. We had to hire another company to jack hammer out the floor, pour a new floor, sure up the foundation and finish the garage. He left his back hoe and job site toilet on our property until we threatened to call the police. His mason came to us a few weeks later for his pay, stating that Mr Taylor told he he didn't have money to pay him because we never paid him. The final insult is his 3 big footprints in the apron in front of the garage that we get to see every day. We kept giving this man the benefit of the doubt because he claimed to be a fellow Christian. He may be a Christian but he is not qualified to be in the construction field. Needless to say, Gary Taylor never paid us back the money he agreed to return. WATCH OUT for this man. We have pictures to substantiate everything.
