Home Inspection reviews in Berkeley Heights

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I used this company in the past and rehired him to do our home inspection. Just when I thought he could not exceed our expectations he did. Not only did John do a great job me, I referred him to a friend to do his inspection. If your looking for an home inspector look no further.

  • David arrived early and began his inspection right away getting down to business and was incredible precise, organized, systematic and thorough going through each room, taking pictures, answering questions, and making notes. Very friendly and easy to work with. He gave me plenty of time to answer my questions.

  • Peter is quite good & thorough enough in his inspection. He is very punctual, and responsive in his (email) communications. Gives a thorough report, even though I thought he focuses more on a few points on the outside of the house, and not quite 'inside-out'. I had to follow up & clarify quite a few things inside with him.
But overall he seemed to be very experienced, and thorough in his analysis.
Gives a big report, exactly within 48 hours, as promised. Quite a few things in the report seemed repetitive, but overall had all details & plenty of pictures from every possible angles. He also sent the Radon report after a few days, as promised.
There are quite a few things that he won't check, some of them might be obvious (as kitchen appliances), but it would have been good to know in advance what all things he does, or doesn't. He would have you sign the waiver / contract terms only after the inspection is done. I would suggest to ask those from him beforehand, and decide on yourself.
I would rate him 4 out 5 in terms of quality of inspection.
But for all other aspects, professionalism, politeness, punctuality, responsiveness etc, indeed a 5 out of 5!
    Cheers.

  • When we got there, Brian Finn was already there early and started checking the roof. When we got there, he was detailed and professional. He explained a lot of home maintenance and details of what he was doing. The biggest issue is getting a hold of him. I would recommend calling the office and talking to Amy. She was able to explain the process.

  • Attorney review was completed only at the last minute. Bill and Melanie made it clear that cancellation/rescheduling was not a problem, taking away any related anxiety. In fact, I did not give him my final confirmation until 9pm the night preceding the inspection, saving me from possible delays in the process.
I was 15 mins early. Bill was as well.
Bill moves fast and very expeditiously, but didn't sem to miss a thing. Scribbled little notes, all of which ended up in the report (which is very nicely laid out). He took his time to explain everything and answer any questions. Gave me tips and pointed out issues.
First he (we) inspected the outside of the home and the roof/chimney. Allowed me to climb the ladder to see the issues on the roof/chimney. Then we went from room to room, each of which he inspected methodically.
I'm a pretty finicky person, but after a while I relaxed, because even in cases where I thought he hadn't seen something, he pretty much finished my sentences. ("did you see the..." "yes, it's cause by..., can be solved by..., etc etc). Of course I'm not an inspector, but I felt he was very thorough and precise. Don't think he missed a thing and everything discussed (and more) was in the report.
Upon completion of the inspection he provided a very useful book listing typical home maintenance issues and problem areas.
The report was sent to me via PDF less than 36 hours after completion of the inspection. It was clearly laid out, descriptive text in the front, bullet points, followed by a check-list indicating severity of the issue and how soon something could/should be resolved. Any questions I had were answered promptly.
    Overall a very positive experience.
The only improvement I might suggest is full photographic documentation of pertinent issues, as a reminder of the location and/or documentation of the status at the time of inspection. There's a lot of information to digest and Bill does not take photos; other inspectors apparently do. So I would recommend that future clients bring their own camera with a strong flash, and a lens that allows wide shots as well as zoomed-in shots for close-ups/more detail.
