Fabulous contractor.  Went above and beyond what I expected.  Great ideas, meticulous, all work perfect in my estimation. Price more than fair.  Professional, good natured.  Full praise for the work done.  One follow up item for repair without problem.  I will recommend and rehire this contractor without hesitation.

    Basic Basement Co
We decided to hire the Basic Bathroom Co. to remodel our bathroom after getting various estimates from other companies who did not come close to providing the same level of service. We live in a condo and have a small bathroom so we initially thought it would be more cost effective to just hire one of those companies that installs a cover over the tub and the tiles. However, we were shocked to hear the price for such a simple makeover. As a result, we reached out to Basic Bathrooms to get a quote on an entire remodel-- we were pleasantly surprised that a brand new bathroom would be more cost effective. The Basic Bathroom comany was excellent from sales to installation. They were honest, explained the process, and made us feel very comfortable with our decision. They called us promptly to set up our install date. On the day of the demo, they showed up promptly and the project manager kept us informed every step of the way. Derek, who did the work was absolutely fantastic-- very professional and did a great job installing the tiles along with a decorative border that we had picked out, We love our new bathroom and would highly recommend this company. All the work was completed in 4 days which also made a remodel easy to deal with. I would gladly use this company again...thank you!!!!! Michele & Michael Fanelli

This was the experience that will make sure I never use Home Depot Services again.
    - Went to Home Depot in Spring '2014 to look at doors, was told we had to pay $35 just to have someone come measure.
    - Took 2 weeks for someone to come out to take measurements, we were told we'd be contacted when the information was ready so we can pick out doors.
    - 2 more weeks went by, we didn't hear from Home Depot.
    - Called several times only to be placed on hold or told that we would be called back - we never were.
    - Showed up at the store after another couple of weeks, we were told the person who handles our file is not available, come back on another day.  This repeated another 2 times before we finally escalated and asked for a manager.  Someone else was magically able to then place our order for us.
    - It took 6 weeks for our door to arrive before we could schedule the installation.
    - The next available installation date was 4 weeks later, I'm not sure why we couldn't have scheduled in advance while the door was shipping.
    - On installation day, they installed the front door.  Then proceeded to tell me "The front door wasn't the right measurement, but we got it to fit.  There's absolutely no way we can get the back door to fit"  What was the point of the measurement then?  We were told we'd be contacted by Home Depot "shortly"
    - We called immediately on our own based on our experience so far, we got a call back a week later and were told the measurements were wrong and a custom door had to be ordered - for extra cost.  Escalation was required to get the costs dropped.
    - Another 6 weeks for the door to be shipped from the manufacturer.  This time we insisted on scheduling an appointment ahead of time instead of waiting another 4 weeks after it arrives.  We were tentatively scheduled 8 weeks out.
    - When the rear door was finally installed, it was installed differently from the front.  It was a crappy job that left pieces looking mismatched and as if it was someone's first time installing a door.
If you're keeping track of the weeks, it's now Winter '14.  We're now realizing that our doors were installed so poorly, that we had MORE drafts and cold air coming into the house than before.  The 25+ year old doors that were warped, contained no insulation were actually more effective than these brand new doors.  We called to complain and asked that the original installers NOT be sent back and new folks to come out if possible.
We stopped keeping count of weeks at this point, but someone came out what seemed promptly - in the snow.  They took a look at both doors and mentioned both didn't seem to be installed correctly.  He would file his report and Home Depot would contact us. Home Depot called us a couple days later and said parts needed to be ordered (no estimate) and that they would schedule once the parts arrived.  It was weeks before we heard from them again, but the doors were eventually redone.  We no longer kept track of the weeks, but we do remember it was warmer out now, the snow had melted but it was still cold enough for us to know the drafts were gone after they came back.  We thought..FINALLY, we're done.
    We were wrong.
Summer '15, plastic/rubber pieces around the door fell apart.  We called Home Depot, they have a installation warranty right?  Sure...
We again got a run around, Chris will call us back.  Except Chris never did, nobody did.  It was a part time job trying to track someone down to get this fixed, but once we made it a full time job.  We finally got a hold of Fall of 2015.  We were promised the installer will give us a call to schedule it.
It is now Fall'15.  One and a half years since we decided to go to Home Depot to get new doors because the old ones were drafty. Now, they're still drafty because of the weather stripping.  Since then, our 30 year old roof developed a leak.  Based on our experience, we decided not to go with Home Depot, it has since been replaced and working perfectly.  Our driveway has been repaved.  Our gutters didn't handle the heavy winter snow, so we had gutters installed.  Two bathrooms remodeled.  Insulation added.  Oven replaced. (We decided not to give Home Depot any of the projects due to this one, all have been a much better experience)  Not to mention got pregnant, gave birth, and our kid is now learning to walk.  At this rate, we have a better chance of our child learning to fix the door before we hear from Home Depot again.
So as of today, I'm placing a call to a local door contractor.  It will cost me my own money, but I bet they will have my problem fixed before I can get this installation guarantee from Home Depot.

    Douglas Home Improvements
When it come to finding a good contractor you want 3 things - Is their price fair - Will they show up on time, be somewhat clean and respectful of your property and do the work correctly? - Would you recommend them to your friends/ family? Following a flood we had on our 2nd floor bathroom from a faulty toilet we needed the sheet rock that was damaged replaced and re textured and painted. We also decided to get the bath redone upstairs with a new Vanity, floor and toilet. I got 3 quotes from A rated Angie ' s list contractors and not only was Douglas the lowest price, he said he could do the job in a few weeks rather than the months we would have to wait for the other guys. Douglas followed up the week before the work began and his men showed up on time every day. Jimmy and his helper always asked if everything was done OK and fixed it if it wasn't. Jimmy matched the ceiling with the spray texturing so well even our neighbors were amazed. The bathroom was installed perfectly and looks beautiful. The guys worked so hard I gave them a $100 tip and they were more than grateful. The answers to all the questions above are an overwhelming YES... It is very difficult to find a a good contractor these days .....If you want a GREAT contractor....go with Douglas, You won't be disappointed

    Fabio Hardwood Floors
Fabio brought in a big crew for the initial carpet and parquet floor removal, around 10 guys so the work would go faster. He was punctual, started early in the morning and finished the removal in the time he originally promised, 5 days. This included removal of two layers of sub-floor beneath the parquet, which had to be removed one sq ft at a time, but he stuck to his original quoted cost. There were some minor nicks and scratches on the wall that will require touch-ups, but I expected this would happen with the amount of effort required to remove the existing floor.

I had other work going on at the house at the time, so I had to push the sanding and finishing portion of the job out a few weeks and Fabio was very flexible with the scheduling, allowing me to pick the week that worked for me. When he came back for the sanding/finishing, two guys from his crew took around 4 days to do the job, just as Fabio had predicted. There was a problem with two of the rooms, where there was "framing" caused by the edges of the room being sanded more than the center, creating a border of darker stain around the room edge. I sent him photos and he agreed it wasn't right, so he had his guys come back and re-do the two rooms free of charge to make sure they were done right. They look much better now, just like the rest of the house, which came out great.

Fabio's price was very reasonable and the project came out looking great, so I would definitely recommend him to others.

Update Jan 2015 - I emailed Fabio to get his recommendation on the best product to fill nail holes in the stair treads left by the carpenter. I didn't expect this, but he offered to come out and fill them for me, which is really above and beyond what I could ask for since the job had already been finished a few months ago. A testament to his focus on customer service and building long term customer relationships.

    1st Class Carpet
These guys were TERRIFIC!  Right from the start, Mike scheduled a convenient night to bring us samples of carpeting and tiles.  This job was time sensitive since we're expecting a new baby in a few weeks and wanted this completed prior to that.  Aware of our situation, Mike made several wonderful carpet/tile suggestions, offered us a fair price, and went ahead and ordered the materials right then!  He also scheduled a quick installation date while accomodating our schedule.  He kept us informed every step of the way.  On installation day, he arrived with the installers (Raul and Mario) and ensured that everything was in order before he left.  The workers were incredible!  They worked non-stop and cleaned up everything before they left.  I cannot say enough good thing about this company.  I would use them again and refer them to all my friends.  I had gotten a quote from another company who told me the installation would take three days.  Mike assured me this could be a one-day job, and he was good to his word.  Although the installers worked into the evening, they managed to finish everything in one day!  I was so impressed!  Best of all, my place looks wonderful!

    Professional Floor Refinishing
Bruce arrived when promised and conducted a thorough walk-through of my home, including checking under carpets to see what type of wood was in place underneath the stair treads, which is something no other provider did.  I would have been happy to select Professional Floor Refinishing for the job, but they came in a bit higher than the other estimates we received.

    Prestige Wood Flooring
They did a great job, starting and finishing on schedule, in two days.  They were professional and followed up to ensure customer satisfaction. They took time and were very patient in getting the stain right, and the match is excellent.  I would definitely use them again.

    M.D.S. Carpentry LLC
After submitting the bid, Mike called and said he changed his mind about the approach. He said he was advised by a relative who was a carpenter to do the job a different way.

I tried calling and emailing several times after that conversation to see if we could come to some agreement but he did not respond.

Mike seems like a capable and honest guy, but I was not happy with the stonewalling.
