    Freeborne Decking
Their price was treasonable compared to other bids. They did a great job and were able to complete it in 2 days because they built the railings in their shop. Their team was professional and the owner very responsive.

    Deck Guardian
Ion and his team at Deck Guardian were amazing to work with. Ion was extremely knowledgeable and patient with us during the planning process, and took care of everything regarding permits with the town. And the communication could not have been better - always responding quickly to questions via email and/or text, which made us feel very comfortable. The project started on time, the crew arrived exactly when they said they would, and the deck was completed ahead of schedule! We couldn't be happier with this contractor - probably the best we've ever worked with. If you're looking to have a deck built, this is your guy! (I wish he did patios too!)

Very skilled carpenters. Instant response from the manager when a question comes up. They listen to the customer and do what the customer requests. Proposal is very detailed--it is very clear as to what you are getting. Very Professional employees and company. We are extremely happy with the finished deck--which easily accommodates a Hot Tub/Grill/Patio Set/Glider and Fire Table-- all on a 370 sq ft !

I never received the estimate. They called me to ask me if I had made a decision and I said I hadn't received the estimate, and I still didn't receive the estimate, so I didn't move forward with that. If they sent it to me, I never received it. They were supposed to email it to me and I did not receive it. It's hard to say because I didn't have them do work. I liked the person who came out, he seemed to be reasonable, but that's as far as it went, so I guess a B overall. Very pleasant interactions, but as I said, I never received an estimate, so I never went forward with the work. The information was pretty detailed that they gave me. I give them a C on the information because the most important information was the estimate and I did not receive it. Responsiveness is also a C because I did not receive it. I wouldn't ask them again because I was aggravated by the fact that even after they called me to say was I going to do the work, and I said I didn't get an estimate, I still didn't' get an estimate.

Hassle free, and very efficient in all the communications. Len was always to the point. The estimate I revived was lower than many, and am very happy with the quality and workmanship. Len and the crew was very friendly and easy to dal with. Will recommend them any time.

    Carpenter Partners
OK - for starters, this was ten years ago, and maybe Carpenter Partners is doing better work now.  I have been reluctant to enter this negative review, but my wife points out that after ten years, we are still living with the problems - a leak in our downstairs bathroom in heavy rains, peeling paint from the sides of the garage (where drip cap wasn't installed), a badly dry-walled entry way and repair on the ceiling inside the garage (which resulted from their efforts originally to repair the leaking roof), the lack of hatches to permit flushing of debris from under the decking, the lack of jalousie windows in the gable and a larger than 1" gap below the gable which allows incredible drafts into the attic in the winter and bug infestation during the warmer months.  In terms of appearance, the project met, and possibly exceeded, expectations.  But, in terms of functionality, it is a failure.  To be fair, Carpenter Partners returned at least three times to try to fix the leaking problems.  However, in the process, they left us with some of the worst drywall joints I've ever seen in the ceiling panels they replaced in the garage and entry way.  Because of the mess of trying to sand and correct this problem, I have painted over it and lived with it.  They also removed several runs of the Trex planking and replaced it, having damaged it in its removal, with new Trex planks that do not match the color of the originals.  And, the leak that begins around one of the posts and enters the house in the downstairs bathroom never got resolved.  We have resorted to packing the base of the post with plastic sheeting, which works - up to a point.  I also discovered, in efforts to fix the drip edge problem, which allows water off the roof to run down the siding instead of into the gutters, that many of the screws used to secure the Trex planks penetrated the continuous membrane.  Carpenter Partners' final effort to fix our problems consisted of inviting me to sue their roofing subcontractor.  Did I mention that they installed a fixed window in the gable and not one that can be opened?  All in all, a very unhappy result.
