Landscaping reviews in Bayonne

  • Called a couple of contractors to turn the area from dirt to concrete, but all were over priced. When I talked to Billy and his team, I got a level of comfort I didn't get from anyone else. Billy cared and his team was there working a difficult situation with the drainage. I would hire these guys again anytime.

  • The new one was something like $3,000 and I said, No I would just prefer to get something else.  They never showed back up again with anything.  But, the bush really did not die, so I just said that's it.  What I've seen in the past, the quality was very good.  They were on time.  I would give them a B simply because I did not use them.

  • They were fantastic. They were great. They did an amazing job. They were careful to not drop the tree on my neighbor's house. They workers were all very well, cleaned up everything, very friendly, very polite, and very good about answering questions. I even took video and pictures of them taking down the tree.

  • With three applications they were able to destroy the growth of English Ivy all through my yard. An evil Ivy if you ever encounter it. It is a verochous consumer of yards and trees if left unattended and very difficult to contain and remove. I still have an occasional sprinkling that is easily removed prob from a neighbors yard I am very satisfied and relieved not to have to deal with them.

  • We are very pleased with the work done by Magnolia and would contact them again for work in the future.
The initial contact was through Angie's list messages. They responded back within 30 minutes! We were able to set up an appointment within the week. Chris gave us  a reasonable estimate based on the amount of work to be done. We signed our contract on Thursday and he was working immediately on Friday getting our permits. Work started quickly after that. The work crew was efficient and effective. They were able to remove our steps in a few days and prepped the ground for replacement quickly. They started early everyday.  The full job was completed in little over three weeks (that is including several non-work days due to rain).  Chris was in constant communication with us to make sure we knew what was going on and to see if we were happy with the work. Financing was also very easy and a great help to getting the job started and completed quickly. Thanks for making our front steps and walk look great!

  • I called them for an appointment. They in turn called me back, came to my house, we talked about what I wanted to have done. The owner, Gary suggested a few different things I could do for low maintenance in the front garden. Once I liked his proposal, I called him and I gave him a deposit upon signing the contract for the work to be done. I paid the balance when the job was done.

  • It was horrible.  We wanted to do the review and we noticed the name was gone because the person removed it.  They have removed their name and now they are going by a different name.  They did sloppy work and they didn’t do quality work.  He was supposed to build in a little thing for our dog with artificial tarpaulin and it was cheap work and we were over charged.  We thought we will get really good work and we were sold on that and the guy was actually a very good salesman.  It turned out to be really third rate work.  He never returns the call if you don’t owe him money.  He never comes back and finishes the job and there are tons of complaints about him on BBB and there are lots of other stuffs and we want to warn people.  We found out a lot of things afterwards.  His first name was Jason.  He does try to sell top gear masonry and landscaping design and all that.  He buys very cheap stuff and he pass off his buys with high priced materials.  He won’t communicate with the customer.  For e.g. if we are talking to him and he has an idea for design for the yard and we say we really think you should do this, he gets upset and doesn’t want to hear it.  I wanted one thing and he said he couldn’t do it for me so we ended up not doing it then when he laid the pavers and it was bunch of them and it was all crooked.  We called him back and told him it needs to be fixed and it was another day and it just kept going on and on so they came back and fixed it.  There was lot of dirt which I was going to be cleaning but when they came back they had to rearrange the pavers because they were all crooked and  they had to cut it back a little bit and they left all the mess and dirt.  They never took the cement out and I kept calling him and he kept telling he will come on Friday or next week and this is a year now.  He has never come back or never returned the calls.  He also broke our stairs and he never replaced them, he is a big guy so we had stairs that he was walking up and down and he broke them and he was supposed to replace them.  When they originally put the pavers in they had to have the square things outwards so they had to cut it back to make it straight again so instead of removing it, they only removed the very top of it and covered it thinking they will get away with that and they are long enough.  It was old concrete that we had removed prior and the backyard has about 3 inches thick of concrete that they should have taken out but they put dirt over.  He had other jobs that were most expensive.  He was supposed to originally have this job started in May and it never really started until the end of June and didn’t finish till the middle of July.  This guy wouldn’t come sometimes and he would always have excuses.  He would send the guys at 4:00 or 5:00 clock in the night and by the time they were here in June to July sometimes it was 90 degrees or 95 degrees and they were worn out and they didn’t put the effort in.  We didn’t get the kind of attention that the money demanded.  We live in Bayonne so we don’t have a lot of big yards as it’s a urban area and we have small yard and we wanted a little area for our Chihuahua to use the bathroom so his design was to put artificial tarp and have the underneath of tarp to put a drain to just clean up the dog’s poop and take the hose and hose it.  He put a little area there and went to Lowe’s and bought cheapest fake rack and put it in on top of it and it was windy and it blew off.  We had to have him come back and fix it and then I said you need to install it and he said they don’t do it and it’s your design, so this was the kind of stuff he said.  He is a very good salesperson, very personable and very nice.  He was nice and very likeable but his work was bad.  He doesn’t follow through.  He is a nice guy outside of when you do business with him because we have asked him a couple of times to do things and if we go against his design he gets insulted.  He gets defensive and insulted and it’s like how dare you? This is what I do for a living and how dare you question me so that’s the kind of thing.  I would like to tell others that not to pay him the bulk of the money until the job is done and till they are satisfied because if you don’t and pay him all of it or 90% of it he will walk away, he will never come back to fix anything because he will be gone.  We need to give him 20%-30% and keep the majority of money and if he doesn’t agree to it, walk away from the deal.  He definitely wants his money so he will come back.  That’s the only way he was able to fix it and realign because we hadn’t paid him completely.  Once we paid him completely and then we discovered the dirt he never came back.  After we had hired him we saw bad reviews on him.  After he put the pavers down he was supposed to put something in between the stone like a sealant and I noticed he was using playground/sandbox sand. I asked him about that and I went online and did a research and supposedly there is sand that has a glue in it and when you put it in and water it down it activates the glue and forms a sealant. Some people use the regular sand but it is cheap and it doesn’t seal anything forever and for rest of your life you need keep adding more sand.  We asked him about it and he said there is no way I am doing it and for what we paid it was little cheap stuff and he had a lot of cheap ways of doing things.  He kept his quote very, very low and comes home and says I am buying the best brick and best this but we learnt a lesson and we need to go back and check stuff  but at that time we did believe them.  We thought it was good price.  He was professional and a great guy.  When we were trying to get the job we were showing the job and talking about the gutters and he got on the ladder and cleaned our gutters.

  • Cody came with 2 others. They looked at both front and back lawns.Decided what needed to be done and did it..They cleaned up, told us how to care for our lawn, and how long it would take to see results..Well, he was right on the money..our lawns look fantastic thanks to Cody..We highly recommend him and look forward to more of his work in the near future...Very happy with the results..

  • Cody's team did a great job and was very thorough. The team was prompt, efficient, detail-oriented and courteous. They even had leftover sod and laid it in an overlooked area. The owner was very communicative and let us know anytime delays arose. He even checked in after the job was done to see how the sod was doing, then offered to fertilize it. They went above and beyond, and so we would definitely recommend Cody's to others!

  • Called Cody's on May 28 and spoke with Ed who said he would get back to me the next day. Ed called May 29 and recommended
what he would do to clean and reseed my back yard, cut back the bushes and provide some evergreens for my deck,
to provide some privacy. I called Ed on May 30th and asked him to call me back to go over the plans and he never called
back. I called him again on June 4th and asked him to give me a courtesy call. Never happened. I don't know how Cody's
    got good reviews.
