Jason's attention to detail is second to none. I was more than impressed by how carefully he matched his repairs with the look of the rest of the old brick work on our house. You'd never know by looking at it that the work was just done. Perfection! We're doing a period restoration of our 1850's house and I'm a stickler for getting the details right. Jason exceeded my hopes on how well I wanted the job to turn out. He also explained that while even though some areas I thought seemed sound, they actually weren't. He showed me how he arrived at that determination and made suggestions for additional repairs but was never pushy about it. Thank you for that!! We will definitely have him back to put caps over our chimneys. This was suggested by someone else and then again by Jason. Difference is that Jason explained options to me that the other guy didn't. Jason understands our goal of authenticity and came up with a plan that will work in this situation. Regarding cost: I expected to be paying about double for workmanship and professionalism like that. Just amazed that we've found him. You will not be disappointed at all if you hire him.

    Chimney Savers Builders Inc
Fran, Bobby and Marcus were professionals, always courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and hard working. Rebuilding a chimney is not inexpensive, however after all is said and done I would hire Chimney Savers again, as a matter of fact, I have for my 2018 chimney cleaning. The only important drawback for using Chimney Savers is that they are booked months ahead; so plan early.

In all three situations I've been highly satisfied with their work. While Chimney Savers may not be the lowest-priced service provider, when you are literally "playing with fire" you don't want to cut corners. My experience is that Chimney Savers are professional, polite, and they do what they say they will do. I will not hesitate to use them again. I have had positive experiences with Gene, Paul, and Fran!

My chimney was 30 years old and disintegrating. These guys are first rate all the way. They built a professional scaffold on my roof and completely replaced my chimney, added a chimney cap, and installed a clean out door in my basement. Everything was very professional and done to the highest standard.

    J.T. Dow Masonry
Jason, the owner, performed a thorough inspection of the chimney a few weeks prior to the work.  He developed an accurate assessment of the work that needed to be accomplished.  At the start of the week of scheduled work, his crew arrived with the necessary scaffolding, cement mixer, masonry saws, and other equipment and materials.  His crew completed the work in the planned time period and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the week. I plan to use JT Dow Masonry again on future projects.

    Ceaser Chimney Service
Prompt arrival; knowledgeable and professional service -- at a reasonable price. I want to also especially note and commend the professionalism and helpfulness of Jill, who scheduled our appointment, coordinated the service, and telephoned me a day ahead with a reminder call. Jill was my first contact with the company, and because of her I chose to use Ceaser's.   Extremely pleased with the professionalism and service. I would recommend Ceaser's without reservation.

Cole Landscape and Masonry/Cole Landscape & Fence
Randy Cole and his crew replaced a series of large, irregular (and often slippery) natural stepping stones that traversed 65 feet with an elevation gain of 9 feet with a beautiful walkway constructed of Cambridge Ledgestone Vermont Slate pavers and 13 or so cast stone stairs. They also replaced a large area with gravel underneath our deck with the same pavers. Randy and his helpers then did a wonderful job of fixing a stone wall next to our new walkway using a combination of the stones they had removed plus a palette of blue mountain wall stone. After all the construction was finished, the area adjacent to the walkway was returned to its original condition, mulch was laid down, and the section of our lawn that was used as a staging area for the work was repaired and reseeded. Other work included rototilling a section of the lawn in anticipation of creating a garden there next summer, and laying down stones around the border of this intended garden, I heartily recommend using this company for your stone work, Most importantly, Randy is there every step of the way, working alongside his small crew, making sure the work is done correctly.

Crew of 4 showed up at about 8:30 AM on designated day and we discussed the work to be done.  Lead mason said it would be done by the end of the day, and it was.  Very professional job, and the bill was exactly as given in the initial estimate.   I had personally built the chimney years ago and never liked the way it looked as it emerged from the roof line, and it was in need of re-pointing, I explored the possibility of having it redone by a professional mason.  When the estimate came in considerably less than what I anticipated, plus the good reviews of this business, I decided to do it and I have no regrets.  I would recommend them to anyone.

    Gravel's Landscape Co Inc
We found  Jean Gravel's website through Google.  We were impressed with the visuals provided on his website of previous work done.  We set up an appointment and he came to listen to what we wanted and to give us some advice and an estimate.   He provided a proposal via email within a week.  We worked out some kinks in the proposal and Mr. Gravel made an appointment with us several weeks later to begin work. The entire experience was 100% positive. He and his assistant were prompt, courteous, reliable, knowledgeable, flexible and skilled.  They worked quietly and efficiently for 6 days straight, responding to our many questions, agreeing to changes if he thought they were advisable, and fitting in extra requests above and beyond our original proposal.  I would highly recommend Gravel's Landscape Co. to anyone interested in having a true professional work on their residence and/or property.  We will certainly be calling upon him again if we need work done!

Paul was a pleasure to work with and Gene seems to stand behind his company. But in their own words, they did not deliver the service they are known for. We had two chimney's rebuilt from the roofline up, lined and capped. The main issue we ran into was with the reduction in size of one chimney to match the other chimney. The reduced chimney was not properly taken below the roofline, which resulted in a large glob of brick and mortar mounded above the roofline where the chimney stepped in. Because this mass was covered up with flashing, we didn't realize it was there and we only discovered it because we had previously asked our contractor to inspect the Chimney work once it was complete. The contractor informed us the glob protruding above our roofline would put the workmanship of our upcoming new standing seam roof at risk. We reported the issue to Chimney Saver's and Gene, the owner, did promptly appear onsite the same day we reported the problem. He agreed it was not done right and said they would be back the following Monday to tear it down and rebuild it from the roofline up. I felt relieved to not have to defend the fact it was not done right and felt very good because we were going to get what we expected in the first place...a cleanly rebuilt chimney from the roofline up. On Monday, after he spent a little time on the roof, Gene informed me they were not going to tear it down but would perform a patch job instead with a 16 yr. rather than 8 yr. guarantee on the workmanship. I didn't know whether to agree as I don't know the first thing about chimney patch jobs and he was asking me to trust in a company who had not done the job right the first time. This made me very uncomfortable and I regret not saying so at that very moment but it was just me without my husband or the contractor by my side. Instead, I had the city inspector climb up and approve the workaround. The inspector seemed to say it should be okay but I suppose only time will tell. I would also note a few other things. The intitial crew left a small wet pool of mortar in my driveway, mortar chunks in my lawn and small bits of brick and mortar rubble on my flat porch roof and sidewalk after they wrapped up the job the first time around. I reported this to Paul and they came out a few days later and cleaned up the area. My contractor also told me the owner had the crew correct something that wasn't right with the cap on the 'okay' chimney. In the end, I am happy with the responsiveness by the owner but less than satisfied with the quality of work. I realize we may have simply had a bad draw in crews but this is not to be expected at their price point. I selected Chimney Saver's because of their A+++ reviews all over Google and Angie's List AND because they are one of the (if not thee) most expensive chimney companies in the area. There is a saying that you get what you pay for - I thought I was going to get the very best. I was wrong. I wish our experience had matched our expectations and that of other reviewer's. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I have to agree with our city inspector who said the work was not even sub-par and our contractor who described the pointing and flashing as extremely sloppy (the roofing company did their best to smooth the flashing but it still has a very 'beat up' appearance). Lastly, don't expect any kind of a discount for your troubles. The cost I shared is what we paid and equals the original estimate. It also does not include the 3+ hours we paid our contractor to inspect/consult on the chimney problem. Sadly, the latter was the only thing I feel we did right and was worth every penny!
