If I use a medical professional, I want to make sure that it is covered by my insurance. I am not going to go with somebody that I am going to have to pay the bill on. I am going to go with somebody that my insurance is going to cover for me. My insurance covers them and they are a local hospital. I don't have a choice. I liked their professionalism.

My referral appointment was promptly scheduled on the day that best suited my schedule. I arrived early and checked in at the front desk with no problems. I was seen promptly by the nurse to get vitals and details. I was taken to the exam room where I met the specialist. The specialist gave a list of possibilities, and recommended a colonoscopy and biopsy. At the check out, I received the colonoscopy prep instructions which were fully explained; the appointment for the colonoscopy was scheduled within one week at my choice of hospital. Overall service was excellent. The specialist performed the colonoscopy on 5/30. I received the biopsy results by mail, but the communication was poor and there were typos in the letter. I had a follow up appointment on 6/6 at Gastroenterology, and my check in and appointment was again handled smoothly and promptly. When I met again with the specialist, the results of the biopsy were better explained. Because of the biopsy, I was sent for subsequent blood tests to rule out celiac disease; that was over a week ago and I have not had those results. I presume they were negative or I would have been called. I have yet to receive an invoice. Overall I'd say they handle people very well, but paperwork not so well.

Overall my treatment has been good. For a few years I had appointments at this office monthly. Right now I am going on an as needed basis. I was given many tests and medications were adjusted until we came up with a good plan. My only complaint is that sometimes I feel rather rushed for my appointment to end.

I found Dr. Thompkins to be very patient, kind, concerned and thorough. I have a long history of multiple stomach issues that have required major surgeries. Dr. Thompkins has taken over my case and I am very satisfied with my care. She has made a huge difference, searching for medicines that didn't cause adverse side affects. She was great about checking up by phone and telling me not to hesitate to call her office. I appreciate that her nurse not only does the intake but comes back in the room to get the treatment plan from Dr. Thompkins in front of you so everyone is on the same page.
