    Affordable Cabinet Refacing
We had a great experience with Affordable Cabinet Refacing.  Chuck came to our house and estimated the cost.  It was not a hard sell but he told us the benefits of going with refacing.  We actually had our cabinets in another house done many years ago, so we were pretty familiar with the process.  I had thought to go with wood cabinet replacements, but Chuck extolled the virtues of thermofoil cabinets. Of prime interest to us was the cost savings and the fact they are easy to take care of and clean. He also gave us an estimate for the quartz countertop and suggested that we use Stone One in Methuen, a company they work with all the time.  I was hesitant at first, but in the end I was glad we went with them because they were terrific. I reviewed them under their own company name.  $4250 of the cost above was for the countertop and 4" backsplash from them. We selected a date several weeks out for the installation.  Sean, the owner, came and did all the measuring for the cabinets a week or two after we signed the contract.  After talking to him my husband was even more confident in our choice. Stone One had been doing a great job of staying in touch with us and making sure we knew the install date for the countertop. They called the week before and the day before.  Unfortunately, Affordable Cabinets did not.  This is my only slight disappointment.  We expected to get a call the week before just to let us know that everything was on track.  We didn't.  By Wednesday we called Chuck and caught him in his car.  He basically said, well if we said we would be there on a certain date, we'll be there.  I realize he didn't have our information on him at the time, he could have just called us back.  We were disappointed because at the time of the sale he made a big point about getting in touch with him directly if we had questions.  Again, this is a very small thing and doesn't change our opinion of the company. The install could not have been handled better. Alex did it and if you get him as your installer, consider yourself very lucky. He did an outstanding job. In addition to the refacing, he resized the cabinet over the oven so that we could have an over the range microwave installed.  That turned out great and he installed the microwave! We also had the cabinet over the fridge replaced with a 24" one that made it usable again over our new French door fridge.  A panel was added down the side so that the fridge had a more built in look. He thought of so many things that we never considered.  He coped (I think that's the word) the molding so our new 'refridgerator cabinet' looked built in.  He talked to us about the location of the hinges on our doors. We were so used to the way they were we hadn't considered how awkward some of them were...well they aren't anymore.  I could go on and on.  Fantastic work, great guy.  I believe he has his own company, but does work for Sean as well. On the last day of the install (the whole thing only took 3 days), Alex realized he didn't have enough crown molding to finish the job.  Sean drove up (we live in central NH, west of Concord) to deliver the molding.  Great customer service. I really don't think you could go wrong with this company.

    Benchmark Home Improvements
My kitchen needed a face-lift and BenchMark Home Improvements came to the rescue with VERY reasonable price, and in a TIMELY manner. They are great to work with every step of the process, from designing, planning, and execution, and completion. Not a single detail was missed. The time they took to complete the whole job was amazingly on-time with no sacrifice on quality. Thank you Lee and the Benchmark crews for providing me an up to date kitchen with a fractions of a traditional kitchen remodelling cost.

    Kitchen Pro
Started good.  Friendly to work with but short on details. They were not able/willing to write down all of the details of the project.    We went to review a kitchen project that they had done.  It looked good so we signed a contract with them. Part the project involved tearing down a wall and they told us we needed to add a beam for ~$1,200.00.  I had the local city inspector look at the wall and he said that a beam was not needed so I assumed this cost would be removed. The initial demo went fine. Problems started when they began to add the finishing to the cabinets.  It looked very bad. It was not smooth. I was told that this was because the original cabinets were not flush.  I accepted this but we should have been told that this could have been a problem. I was told this is normal and we would not notice it after the doors were hung. BUT, the same problem was found on the NEW cabinets that Kitchen Pro built.  The refacing also has bumps under it caused by debris that was not removed prior to sticking the veneer on. As time has gone on we have found many defects in the inferior products that we used. The material used on the cabinets has several bubbles and is starting to get hair line cracks.  Today we noticed that the doors were not SOLID poplar wood but were make with cheap veneer.  The veneer is starting to separate on one of the doors and the staining is very blotchy. The owner still charged us for the $1,200.00 beam saying the 1/4" by 6"  by 8ft piece used to cover the ceiling gap were the wall removed a 'BEAM" while was complaining that he wasn't making enough money on the project. When I asked about the quality of the installation the owner acted disgusted acting like we were being too picky based on the "great" price he had given us. I am writing this review to hopefully help other people avoid the poor workmanship and cheap products we received. Attached are pictures to show examples of the complaints so that you can see for yourself.
