Aaron LaCoss from LaCoss Carpentry did such an amazing job on every stage of the project that we hired him to do.  He is capable of doing it all, from frame to finish.  The quality of each stage of the project he performed was excellent.  He is very thorough and such a perfectionist, especially when it comes to the finish details.  I was very pleased with the price he charged for the project and would highly recommend him to my family and friends for their carpentry needs.

Aaron is a fantastic carpenter and is very meticulous in his work. He points out any problems he may see while doing the job (my home was built in 1976) and saved me from further problems down the road and saved me money in the process.  Aaron works alone so the job will take longer than you might have anticipated but it is well worth the delay.  His attention to detail and quality of work is the best I have seen in my forty years of hiring contractors.  He is also a finished carpenter and did outstanding work on the many projects I had him do on the interior of my house.  I also thought he was very reasonable and fair regarding the cost of my projects and he will never leave behind any cuttings or debris from the work site as he cleans up after every work day.

Overall we were quite pleased with Asa's work. He is a very nice person, very upbeat and energetic, and pleasant to deal with. He handles the business end professionally with a formal quote and we found his prices to be fair. The project took a bit longer than it could have, but it was done within the time-frame he had quoted and for the quoted price. It was complicated a bit by deer-hunting season on his end, Thanksgiving holiday, and a mid-December vacation on our end. So the entire process took from early Nov - end of December. Asa does his best to clean up after each day, but it is a messy process. I would say his strength is the carpentry work. The only thing I would not hire him to do again is the painting, and normally he would have brought in a sub to do it, but it was such a small area, it made more sense just to have him do it. Asa was good about communicating schedules and was responsive to questions via phone calls and e-mails. He was sometimes delayed or had to reschedule, but he did give us notice when this happened. Asa brought good quality subcontractors to the job and scheduled and managed them well. I did stay very involved in the scheduling and day-to-day progress, but that is my nature. We would use Asa again, particularly for carpentry type work - in fact, he will be giving us a quote for a wall unit in our family room when we are ready to proceed with that project.

Kevin did wonderful work on both jobs.  Our bedroom is better than new with the popcorn scraped off, sheetrock repaired, ceiling and walls completely repainted.  He and his assistant did meticulous cleaning up.  While Kevin was here to work on the ice dam damage, he pointed out that the sidelight of our exterior front door was rusting...it was steel....and should be replaced.  We wanted to put this repair off for a year, but decided to go ahead with it.  We are glad we did, because the sill under the door was rotted completely through.   Again the work was done in a highly professional manner and all the debris was cleaned up.  He also painted the door and made a special trip back to take care of a minor weather stripping problem.

A special thank you to Kevin for noticing the door problem!

Jonathon was a pleasure to work with from the get go. He was on time for doing the estimate and we were fortunate that he was able to do the work for us on fairly short notice (on a Sunday). He responded to all my email questions in a timely manner. He showed up at the designated time and worked straight through to do the demolition, rebuild the wall and install the new slider. He cleaned up when he was through. Jonathon is a pleasure to be around and he put up with me looking over his shoulder all day and he answered all my questions, both on and off topic. I was impressed with the quality of his work and I will certainly hire him again if I need any work done on my house.

I can't recommend Kevin higher. I am relatively adept at fixing stuff around the house, so when I hire a contractor, it is usually because I just don't have the time to do it myself. So, I expect them to live up to the quality that I would do myself. Kevin not only lived up to but surpassed it.
    PROS:
    • - Great communication. He made sure we were both on the same page about what needed fixing and how it would be done.
    • - Very fair price. No overages. Came in right on the estimate.
    • - Excellent work. Everything looks fantastic.
    • - Showed up when he said and got right to work
    • - Worked very diligently
    • - Cleaned up the work area at the end of each day
    • - Very polite and conscientious of our home
    • - This is his only job. It may sound odd, but other handymen we contacted said they could only work on weekends because they had a full time job during the week.

And I think the best quality was his expertise. He offered some great advice on the materials we installed. He even helped me avoid costs when I asked him to replace a window and he told me that I could simply get it repaired at Portland Glass for a fraction of the cost.
    CONS:
Truly none. I can't think of one thing that he did wrong or I was not happy about.
Bottom line, Kevin is on my speed dial for any new projects around our house. I've used contractors over the years with a variety of results. Kevin is by far the best of the bunch. If you need his services, trust me, you can't do any better.

    GLASS ROUTES
I purchased the door. They were referred to me by my neighbor. My neighbor had a really good feedback about them and then in my visit with them to talk about what I was looking for and the experience I had with different people that I talked to over the last few weeks kind of sold me on them. My friends have used them. There was some mix up in the timing around during the quote. Once the doors arrive, the time that took to deliver it and install it, that was very quick. I will definitely use them again.

Kevin has done a number of projects for us over the last few months.  He has reset a twisted door frame, replaced a set of railings that were rotted on a portico, done both interior and exterior painting, fixed some squeaky floors, cleared some wooded areas for us and more.  Kevin is great to work with and he has many skills.  And, he is not afraid to say he lacks the skill to do a project if he is not fully comfortable.  That is refreshing.  He also calls the night before coming to confirm and he shows up on time.  I am so frustrated with other contractors who don't return phone calls or who show up two hours after they said they would.  That does not happen with Kevin.  He respects your time too and that is a big deal.
We will definitely use Kevin of KP again!

    American Building & Design
This young man is incredibly skilled in all areas of building and his conscientious attention to excellence in quality workmanship results in a finished product that will meet the highest standards of the most discriminating customer.  The fact that he is on the job daily as the organizer and project manager makes him accessible and accountable to the customer.  His willingness to communicate problems, suggestions, and solutions, allows the customer to have input on even the most minor details throughout the project so they get the results they want. His energy and desire to please the customer and his friendly, respectful, and professional demeanor make him easy to talk to and work with and instill confidence that his experience and abilities are suited to any task you charge him with.
George is a builder by vocation and he is blessed with good judgment, good design, and skills that are obvious in the flawless finish work not only in precise joinery but in his tendency to go the extra mile to put in the extra work and time to make everything as beautiful as possible. This was a massive project with thousands of details and decisions that had to be made over several months and I cannot find a single example of sloppy or below par workmanship.  He was brilliant in suggesting design changes that he believed would enhance not only the quality of the work but the beauty of the finished design and most importantly, he remained true to the style of the house with a keen eye to appropriateness and proportion.
If you are for fortunate enough to be able to enlist the services of the much in demand craftsman, you will not be disappointed and you will certainly get your money's worth and be delighted with the results.  I personally could not be more pleased with his work.

Overall I am more than happy with the work that Kevin performed, both, the closets, and the hardwood floor.  He was very professional, punctual, and responsive throughout the whole process.  The quality of his work is superior, I can't imagine anyone doing a better job.  As far as price, the $825 estimate including material and labor was in my opinion fair.  I imagined it was going to take him a couple of days to do everything, but he managed to finish in about 8 hours or so.  Material was probably $300-$400, so labor in this case came out to $50 an hour or so.  A little steep, but it would have taken me weeks to do myself, so it's worth it.
