I called them to fix a broken lock.  I am out in the country, and another company was asking $125 just to come out here.  JS Adams said they would charge $35 to come out here, and might not need to charge any more than that for the work. The technician came over the same day, just when he said he would, and DID call first as I had asked.  The technician explained why I had a problem, fixed it, and fixed a similar problem he had noticed on a different lock.  Did NOT charge me more than the basic $35. Definitely would call them again.

I was busy with other work, so asked my 15 year old son to direct Mr. Robert Veale to the door and explain our problem - skeleton key stuck in a lock. I was hoping to replace the lock with a more modern lock, but Mr. Veale let us know that the door was too thin (solid wood door) to accommodate a more modern lock set. He repaired the existing lock by removing the key from it, then removing it from the door, cleaning it up and re-installing it. He noted that the lock had soot on it that might relate to the history of the house, perhaps a fire. He seemed interested in old houses like mine. My son asked me if he could have Mr. Veale open a locked box his grandmother had given him. We didn't know what was inside. Mr. Veale did not charge us for this service and seemed as eager to see what was inside the box as we were. It ended up having a few old and presumable valuable coins inside. It was a pleasure to do business with Mr. Veale.

I called the contractor and he answered on my first try. He asked me some questions about the job. I called back the next day with the answers, and he was at my house by 4:30pm doing the install. Two men showed up. Very pleasant and very professional. They installed exactly what I required. The first man was older and I had the impression he had installed a few million locks over the years. The second man was younger but clearly experienced as well. I only had to leave work 30 minutes early to meet them at my house; this was a big plus. For some service providers, I have had to miss the entire day. When they were done, they insisted I personnally test the keys in the lock. One lock I had trouble with so they made a few adjustments to it and had me try again. It did not matter to them that they could make the lock work with no effort -- it only mattered to them that I could. This was excellent customer service. If I ever have any further need of a locksmith, I will call these guys first.

It was easy to set up a time for the locksmith to come to our house, and the guy who came by was very nice, worked quickly, did a great job and cleaned up after himself. Very pleased with their service.

The overall experience was very good.  Daniel Boone is an experienced locksmith with a good understanding of how to fix problems, and how to prevent similar problems in the future.  Although I called him in the late afternoon, he came right over and helped me out.  I not only got my lock fixed, I also learned several things about proper set-up of door frames and quality of locks.

The experience was terrible.   Weeks went by, no word.  I called and was admonished because he was SO busy.  I asked how long I was to wait.  There was no answer.  Days later I called again and part of my job was done and my customer still had no way to lock up.  When I asked what about the rest of the work the technician told me he did not know the application so he did not know the blank he needed......AFTER he had it for over a MONTH!  He had my phone number and he never used it.  Finally I called back and asked what was the status of my locks and he fired back that they were not done and will not be done because he cannot find the blanks. There is a level of apathy that I haven't seen for years. Yes, I am sure there are bigger fish for him to fry but I did not expect the work to be done for free. Now my customer is still out of luck, I look as incompetent as this worthless locksmith and I, unlike him must work hard to rebuild my reputation to my customer.  AVOID this place.
