They were very good. They put me in a top notch hospital and everybody was great. I would recommend them. I would use them again.

    Robert Thurer MD
Dr. Thurer is an exceptional thoracic specialist and is very highly regarded in his field. I visited him to get his opinion on a benign mass. He was very thorough and honest, yet had a very friendly and personable manner, which is rare for a surgeon. I visited him several times over a few years to monitor any changes, and each time I was very impressed by him.

    Cohn, Lawrence H
It went well! Dr. Cohn was highly recommended by Ed?s cardiologist. We met with him initially and he went over in detail what the surgical procedure would be and how long it would take. Everything went as he said it would. He met with me after the surgery to tell me what would happen next. The whole Brigham & Women?s Shapiro Center staff was excellent. The surgeon was great, the surgery was vital, but the aftercare was just as vital. The private room and the care for several days of recovery was key. Ed couldn?t imagine being in a semiprivate room going through what he did and feeling the way he did.

    Cohn, Lawrence H
Dr Cohn's staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when I initially called for statistics on the number of surgeries he has done and on his rate of repair (other surgeons were either ignorant of these numbers or actively unhelpful and evasive about the answers). He has a 99.5% repair rate for this type of surgery (this is the number of repairs he does successfully compared to the number he predicts he can do). He has done more than 1000 of these surgeries, and on surgery days does two operations a day, which is exactly what you want in a surgeon - experience. (Check out his impressive background here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_H._Cohn) He does not linger in exams but does answer any and all questions. I had the surgery a bit more than a month ago and he repaired my valve beautifully. I recommend him very highly - he is a wonderful surgeon and saved my life!

    Walker, Dr. Jennifer
I got to know her quite by accident. She is a terrific doctor and has probably worked twice as hard as any male surgeon to get to where she is. I’m alive today because of her and I would recommend her to anybody. She is a nice kind of person who will listen to you. I went to her office once about 5 weeks after the surgery and the staff was perfectly fine.

They said it was a miracle that she saved me. She was very attentive even post procedure. Now you can't even tell there is anything wrong with me. Her skill saved my life. I later found out she is a very renowned doctor.

See description of services. Askk as many questions as you need to to feel comfortable. Ask for statistics. Get at least 2 other opinions at other hospital and you will see why BWH is the best choice.

    Cohn, Lawrence H
It went absolutely fabulous. He has done 10,000 valve operations and is nationally known. He is the best. We live in Florida and were refereed to him. Our insurance covered the cost.

    Brigham & Women's Cardiology
I was referred by my cardiologist for a second opinion. I consulted a cardiac surgeon who reviewed my echocardiogram and took a very thorough history, before recommending a VO2 stress test and a consultation with a cardiologist who has an interest in asymptomatic patients. I feel that their input to my decision (defer surgery for the present) was extremely useful.
