I get my cleanings 100% free, but very little else is covered. I wish there was more that I could do (mouth guards etc)!

The coverage is good, I have never had a billing problem. Seeing a specialist is a bit of a pain (I need a referral from my primary care provider), but I have always been able to get in to see a specialist if I wanted to. I am happy with the provider and coverage. I am grateful to have health insurance :)

Medicare pays for our initial costsand Tricare For Life, as a military supplement, pays most of the rest. They also have an excellent prescription program.  We are very satisfied with their coverage.

Very expensive deductibles and copays but I don't think that it's necessarily United HC's fault. It also has to do with what my employer is willing to pay. That being said, I sometimes feel that Untied HC tries to get out of paying for claims. I mean they are in the business of making money. I have two specific examples:  First  was when I turned 35 and was due to have a baseline mammogram. Since I have implants my gyno wrote the presciption(a Dr. had to write a prescription then) differently than normal and United HC took it as me having a second mammo rather than a first. Even though I, at that point, had been with them for 10 years and they would have known if I had had a mammo (because what am I going to do, get one without insurance?!) because there would have been a claim. They would not pay for the whole thing. The Dr was even kind enough to rewrite the mammo order but United wasn't taking it. The second example is when I was pregnant, they called me after receiving the claims from my ob/gyn office for pregnancy test, ultra sounds and such. At first they were saying they wanted to send me a new mom kit and had to ask me a couple of questions. I agreed. Basic questions at first such as "how far along" etc. Then they started asking health related questions that ran in my family such as heart problems, diabetes, etc and if it ran in my family. The whopper was "does mental retardation run in your family?" I lost it!!! I'm sure they were trying to find a predisposed condition so that if God forbid my baby had something they could deny the claim. I told them that's what they were doing and just know I was pregnant, pay the bills and don't call me again! I was disgusted but like I said. I'm stuck with them because it's what my employer offers.

They provide routine care, but don't cover a lot for crowns, which unfortunately I need a few of. There's also a max yearly benefit.
