  • We were told to expect the sales call to last 60-90 minutes...it was 3 hours.
    Q:"Will the decision-makers be present?"
    A: "Yes"

Before we were shown any product, we were subjected to a lengthy talk about financing.

I asked if we could get to the product...windows and patio doors..
We were then shown a power-point presentation on the history of Andersen windows.
We were told stories of satisfied customers in the area.
...stories of customer service beyond the written limited warranty.
I have my doubts these are typical.
We were told how inferior, wood, aluminum and vinyl windows were.
We were told how great Andersen windows were.
We were told all installers & sales people were employees of Andersen...no contractors or subcontractors.

Please note: Even though I asked earlier, a significant amount of time as passed...we haven't been shown the product yet.
    Finally...
We were told about their composite material 'Fibrex'.
We were told how their windows are constructed.
Due to too many complaints, we were told Andersen does not do staining.
Too many cases being unable to match existing woodwork. "We're not good at it."

After 90 minutes, he starts measuring.
Spends at least 30 minutes, compiling a bid.
It was nice to get a price in 30 minutes. But, it's too long sitting at my dining room table...I went to watch TV.

After finally compiling the numbers, we were asked very odd questions, like "Do you trust us? Can we work together?"
(I'm thinking...can you just show us the bid?!)
    It was too awkward.
It was as though if we didn't answer "yes we trust you' or 'yes we can work together'...he wasn't going to show us the price.

He talked about advertised specials (free install) and 'unadvertised' discounts...the price dropped significantly off the 'retail price'.
He talked about financing again....further discounts if we paid cash...more financing talk...too much financing talk.

We were asked to commit on the spot.

    He was too pushy.
We do not respond to pressure sales.

I tried to be polite. But, I got to the point where I declined to answer any of his questions.

Q:  "Did you have a price in mind?"
A: "I'm not going to answer that."

Q "What price did you have in mind?"
A: (firmly) "I'm not going to answer that."

Q: "Let me ask you this...is the price too high?"
A: (firmly) "I'm not going to answer that."

    In a word...unreasonable.
    A 3 hour sales presentation (6:00 - 9:00 pm) is unreasonable.
Being pressured to commit to a tens-of-thousands-of-dollars project on the spot is unreasonable.

We have had sales presentations & prices from 4 companies in the Lincoln/Omaha area.
Renewal by Anderson was the worst of the 4 by a significant margin.

  • The experience was great.  It took one day.  There was minimal mess.  No heavy equipment involved.  We had this done in May and I waited over the summer to write a review.  So far things look great.  No signs of any settling or cracking issues.  Many friends have remarked how great this looks and some have had it done in our area as well.

  • Everything went very well. John showed up @ our home when he said he would. He immediately assessed the condition of the refrigerator, and narrowed down the reason for the failure of the appliance to two parts. He returned two days later, replaced the non-working part and our old GE fridge has a "new lease on life."
John was courteous, thoughtful, careful, thorough and professional. It was a pleasure to get to know him and it is an honor to be able to give him the highest recommendation. If any of Angie's List members who are my neighbors in Wahoo, NE find themselves in need of a knowledgeable, skilled appliance repairman, John Norris [J's Appliance Repair} is the one they need to contact.

  • Our experience with them has been amazing. They are quick, honest and trustworthy. They do a great job. I do not remember the cost of their last service but it was absolutely a good price and I was very pleased with it. We would absolutely continue to use them in the future.

  • They are reasonably priced, punctual and if I don't want or need them to come they don't have to.  They don't have a commitment and they call and say they are going to be in the area and I let them know if I need them to spray or not.

  • They removed old siding and installed new. It went really well. They were on time, stayed on task, installation and cleanup completed as promised.

  • All the crew worked hard sawing & hauling branches and logs to the street where they were ground and blown into trucks.  Also removed stump.  Left everything neat and clean.

  • They are super friendly and reasonable.  They were very respectful.
