Omaha Cabinet Refacers Reviews

"The whole project should have only taken 1-2 weeks, but they only worked about 1 day a week, so it took 2-3 months. The quality of the work was OK, until it came to the tile work. He did a mediocre job and did not do the contrasting tile work right, then did a patch job to try to correct it. When I politely expressed the error, he became very rude and argumentative. He mis measured the windows and I am not pleased with the workmanship. My house is built with 2 X 6 but he didn't measure it and assumed the walls were 2 X 4 so had to piece the sills inside. At one point while they were working on the windows, I heard one of the workers say, "I don't care, its not my house." The son of the owner did do a lot of the work and I felt he did a good job with his portion of the job. The owner seemed very pleasant when he came for the estimate, but I will never use this company again and will not recommend them to anyone else. They were not responsive to issues after the work was completed."

"I was quoted $2000 to custom build a bar and $4000 for bookshelves and two benches. I provided the owner (

) with pictures of exactly what I wanted. He assured me that he could build what I wanted. I gave him a downpayment of $4000 in

. When my basement was ready for the work he was difficult to get a hold of, had to come back a couple of times for all the measurements, needed the pictures at least three times and could not remember things we discussed. He kept putting me off and changing the delivery date due to other work. His inability to deliver on time delayed my project. He showed me a basic sketched plan once and I told him he had the sink on the wrong side of the bar. He said he would correct it but I never saw another plan. He asked me what style of doors I wanted on the bar and I said mission - exactly like the picture. Also, I heard Maple is difficult to stain so I called
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
numerous times with my concern.
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
assured me he has never had a problem. I even had him talk to my painter who suggested he dye the wood.
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
was unwilling to research the possibility. He finally came to install the bar and it was NOTHING like it was supossed to be. I noticed right off that the wood was cracked in the corners. He told me he would fill those in and I wouldn't notice. (I found out later from two custom builders that he used the wrong type of nail which caused the cracks.) The first thing he told me when he arrived to install the bar was he stained one door and it looked like sh*t. He blamed the stain but it was a high quality

brand. There were many other issues. For example there were many circular
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
where the sander was used. The doors were raised panel and were not mission style. He said I liked my upstairs cabinets and I told him he was the expert and needed to build the requested mission style doors. When
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
set out the top cabinets I asked why they were rectangle and not square.
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
assumed I wanted the top cabinets to line up with the bottom ones - which completely changed the look of the bar. I was very frustrated and asked to see the plan I had originally seen.
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
was unable to locate it. I had
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
stop any installation. I ended up telling him I didn't want the bar. He wanted to try to make me happy but he was unwilling to change more than one cabinet which still would not make the bar look like the picture. When I told
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
I didn't want to do the bookshelves and asked about a refund for that portion of the down payment I was told that the bar was now $4000 and there was no refund. I thought about this for a night and decided he was being unreasonable and there was no way he had $4000 into that bar. Besides the price was double what he quoted. I could not get
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
to return my calls so I ended up telling him I was not paying for the bar and he could take it back. He still did not return my call so I eventually left a message saying if we didn't settle the matter I would have to take him to small claims court.
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
finally called me the last night before I was going to file. To avoid prolonging my dealings with
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
I ended up paying $1000 for the bar and he refunded $3000. I ended up throwing out the bar after a couple of custom builders agreed the quality was poor. I ended up hiring one of the custom builders who did a FABULOUS job.
I made many mistakes in this transaction. I used a brother of my best friend since she assured me he was extremely picky and would do a great job. I should not have hired someone who was related to a friend as it caused me a friendship. I did not ask for pictures of his other work or require a written contract. Furthermore I should not have given
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
any money before the work was finished. After meeting with a professional cabinet maker for hours to get exatly the right design I realize how amateur
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
was.
Previous to the bar I did hire
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
to complete some roofing work. He did a good job with that for a reasonable price. For that type of work
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
would be fine to hire. However, I would not recommend him for any remodeling or building of cabinets.
Omaha Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
might have lower prices but you will get what you pay for.

"I purchased the $49 groupon for a set of plans for a kitchen or bath
remodel project. I met with one of the owners initially and he took
measurements and was professional. It's not a large kitchen and we were
not looking for a complete overhaul. I was really hoping for some design
advice. When I hadn't received any plans or even an estimate for the
cabinet refacing, I called Ed (he had been my contact person) and he
apologized and I explained what I was hoping for (design ideas) and he
immediately set up an appointment with their new design person

the following day. He also said that they still owed me some plans.

came over and she was also very nice and she pretty much agreed with
what I had already been thinking. She invited me to their showroom and I
visited later that day. She showed me color/wood/tile options and said
that she'd be emailing an estimate to me shortly. I received the
estimate either that day or the next, however, it went into very little
detail, listing one total amount for refacing, floor install, tile
labor, etc. I called her and asked her if she could break it down into
totals for those different components and asked her to price out a few
other things separately. This was just about a week ago. To date, I
still don't have the $49 plans (which I guess I don't really need
because we couldn't come up with any real modifications to the current
layout). And I don't have an estimate that is detailed enough to make
any kind of price comparisons.
