AAmbiance Audio|Control|VideoDuring the construction phase there were many discussions and much planning about how we were going to use our home when completed. It's a lake home and entertaining family and friends figured heavily in the plans. Ease of use was also key. Features could be added later, we were told, but it would be much easier (cheaper) to do things when the walls were open. Before the drywall went up Ambiance pulled in all the wiring that would make everything work. They told us they put in over 4 miles of wire! After the paint all the speakers, TVs and other parts were installed. When it was all done they spent a lot of time going over the different features and functions, and things we could have them program to customize the system to our needs. We decided to set it up so our hallway lights would come on when we walked through, as well as automating our outside perimeter lighting to go on to 50% at sundown, dim to 10% at 10PM, and then off at sunrise. We also have our DVD library in a disc changer, so we can just choose one from the on screen menu. When we hit play the lights dim automatically and when we hit pause (to get more popcorn) the lights come up! There are speakers in most every room and two surround sound rooms. I really like being able to choose a music station from the TV menu and then listen to it anywhere in the house, and even outside at the dock and patio. Another favorite thing is the picture slideshow on my living room TV. When I'm listening to music the TV reveals itself from behind a framed picture and shows pictures of the grandkids on the screen. Just great! Over time we decided which features we made use of, and which we didn't. When we wanted to make a change Ambiance could connect to our systems over the internet which was convenient. The recent upgrade did require that they come here in person as a new controller had to be installed. There was a noticeable increase in responsiveness across the board. Very happy overall!- Roger W.

AAbsolute SecurityWe had our alarm system installed by ADT. It was a free system. We got rid if them and went with Absolute Security. Their prices were cheaper and their service is just as good. The monthly service fee is twenty something dollars a month which you get to deduct from your house insurance. I have called to have it upgraded two or three times. They always schedule a convenient appointment and are very prompt. They are very knowledgable. The service guy that comes out here was I don't know. He amazed me at what he knew. He just goes to work ding ding ding this that boom boom boom an done. Its like you throw those magic potions in a pot and boom there it is. So he was very good. ASecurity Equipment, Inc.We have been customers of SEI for about 7 years now. They sold us a good quality alarm system and monitoring; we have never had a problem or complaint with their equipment or service. We had a new front door put on the house last month. So we called SEI to come install a new magnet in the new door and a new sensor in the door frame. The installer showed up right on time, was pleasant, polite, worked well with the door installer. He did his work quickly, tested it for accuracy and left. We have had to have them come back a couple of times to line the sensor and magnet up; evidently, steel doors settle immediately after installation, and they flex in heat/cold. They've been very responsive and had a professional installer at my house on the same day that I call. They show up on time, are pleasant and professional, clean up after themselves and never forget to return the settings to the way we like them, i.e. they turn off the door chime, etc. I always recommend SEI to people who are in the market for an alarm system.- Michelle R.

COnce we found a time that worked for both of us, I asked how much it would be. Was told $85. They walk in my house without putting on shoe coverings (we have new carpet) and shoe coverings should just be a given for any service coming into a customer house. The one he sent couldn't figure it out. He was here for MAYBE 10 minutes; he called someone to try and figure it out, ended up going to Menards to purchase a different switch, (that's ok), was gone MAYBE 45 minutes, installe switch and charged $200. Upon my arrival home in the evening, switch did not work. Had to keep another switch on to make the one they installed work. He sent another young man the next day after and he was here MAYBE 10 minutes (and the owner implied he should charge more since they had to come back- REALLY???) I asked if we could some money refunded and was told I could stop by the shop and get 1/2 hour refunded. He can keep is $42.50 to send his employees to school. My opinion total cost should not have been more than $100.
