Auto Painting reviews in Grand Forks

  • I was very happy with them. It went very well. My son-in-law paints cars professionally and I had him have a look at the job after it was done and he was very critical sort of guy he said he could have done little better but not much. I had a problem with line on the back bumper where they overlap the paint I took it back in they just pull it in the shop and buffed it right out and it looked pretty much as new and they did that right on and they did very well. I certainly would use them again. The price was competitive. They are little bit slow because they are so busy. They are very professional. When I first went in we sat down and he told me exactly what he was going to do and it was pretty obvious why he had price it the way that it was because particularly body work was more expensive than I thought it would have to be. He told me exactly what he was going to do and how he was going to do it and I really appreciated that and I didn't get that from anybody else that I got bids from.

  • It was a very bad experience all the way around.  The front bumper was replaced and put on crooked so now there's a huge gap on one side.  The day I got the vehicle back I noticed that the heating and cooling system didn't work right and it worked fine before taking it into the shop.  Now it only blows on vent - no defrost or floor option and when I brought this up with the mechanic I was told "We didn't touch the electrical system and that sounds like an electrical problem".  I got pulled over that very night for no lights despite the fact that the driver's side headlight assembly was supposedly replaced.  Took it back in to have them fix it yet again.  One would think that if you replaced something as crucial as a headlight assembly you would make sure they worked before handing the vehicle back over to the customer.  Here is where I am confused - how can you replace a headlight assembly, radiator fan, and several other items without touching the electrical system?  I'm no mechanic but it doesn't seem right.  The repairs should have been completed long before I got my vehicle back but still things don't work right.  I am now taking my car into a different shop and paying extra out of pocket to have things fixed that should have been taken care of 6 months ago.  You can see that some of the replacement parts were originally red since the paint job didn't cover all areas.  There are just several things that make for a very dissatisfied customer.

  • I decided on Abra because the estimator was very knowledgeable about
what had to be done. He went into detail in explaining how the body work
and painting had to be done to give good results. The reputable dealer
wanted to paint the whole door (undamaged) as well as the quarter panel
claiming that was necessary to match colors. This proved to not be
true as the Abra job and paint color were excellent in matching paint
color and in overall result. I was similarly impress with the job on
the bumper cover which looked as good as new. I had a bit of difficulty
scheduling the job which resulted from unclear communication about when
the car would be ready to be worked on and when parts would be
available. The job took 3 days once started. The quarter panel body
work and painting were right on bid. The bumper cover replacement and
painting was $442 under bid for reasons not explained. The latter
quote was about the same for all 4 venders I originally obtained.
Overall I was very impressed with Abra's work at a reasonable cost.
I would use them again if necessary.
