  • I CAN’T RECOMMEND RICK HALVORSON CONSTRUCTION ENOUGH!!!! IN A TIME WHEN IT IS INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND AND TRUST A CONTRACTOR TO DO A JOB RIGHT, ON BUDGET, AND TO BE THERE WHEN YOU NEED THEM, RICK HALVORSON CONSTRUCTION IS THE ONLY ONE TO CALL!! Recently, my family and I decided to renovate our basement instead of moving to a new home. This is something we’ve never been a part of and were frankly pretty nervous about. After being in our home for 11 years, we’d built enough equity to get a loan, and remodel, but we had a very specific limit on how much we could spend. So when it came time to find a contractor we wanted to make sure we picked someone who was trustworthy first and foremost, reputable, and knowledgeable. We had worked with Rick before on some improvements to windows, doors, siding, etc, through the City of Fargo Renaissance program, and so naturally he was on our short list of contractors to obtain bids from. Rick’s bid was the best of the 3 that we received, and given our history with him and his business, we felt best going with him. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW GOOD THIS DECISION WAS! The work done by Rick’s crew, most notably Ryan Schuette, was so much better than we could have hoped it would be. Anytime a decision needed to be made on how to best do a particular job, it was always done the right way and not the cheapest way. There was never a concern about keeping it cheap, only doing what was best for the house, and for the client. And I can’t thank them enough. Add to them their subcontractors, JDP Electric, and Magnell Plumbing. Scott from JDP was awesome, and listened to all my request for power outlet positioning, light switches, smurf tube, data lines, phone lines, everything down to the color temperature in the ceiling lights, and he made sure it was done just right. Mike Magnell from Magnell plumbing went so far above and beyond that I don’t even know what to say. Example: he recognized the fact that at some point in the future we might get a fridge with water, and ice maker etc… and noticed that once the bathroom ceiling was in we’d never get a water line in, so he just ran a water line, even though it wasn’t part of the bid, and that’s just one of the many extra value’s he provided. Rick and his team of workers, and subs are thoughtful, courteous, thorough, accurate, and precise with the work they do. Their is no notch higher than them, they are THE TOP NOTCH when it comes to this work! DO NOT hesitate to call them!

  • Accent Kitchen and Bath was a dream to work with. The salesman was super nice in helping us decide bathroom fixtures and flooring. He explained all the procedures before hand. They had to drill into the floor and even with all the drilling and dust, it never made it through our house. They kept the work site pristine and were always very professional. During our bathroom addition, our basement flooded. Accent was quick to respond and help us fix what was ruined. They were such miracle workers. It is now 2017 and our bathroom looks as beautiful as it did when they unveiled it to us. We loved all the quality products they installed. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

  • The original work was probably close to 5 years ago and we have not had a drop of water since and the rest of the basement was done 2 years ago and no water issues with that. Owner is very seasoned and knowledgeable on what needs to be done and won't oversell as other companies do trying to protect themselves 20+ years down the road. He is a little rough around the edges so I can see how that will put some people off, but if that doesn't bother you they are a great hire.

  • The project went very well. Timely, the cost went up but i did add to the scope of work. Slabs of Light restored the exterior of my craftsmen home in south Minneapolis. Tuck pointed the brick, re-built my front stoop, finished the basement, drain tile. They also opened the kitchen to the living room by removing a wall, added supports. Installed new kitchen cabinets, granite, tile, 2 new baths, restored the natural wood work. They were very professional, took their time and were very detailed. I'm really impressed. This was not an easy, simple project, but they managed the project extremely well.

  • Before starting I asked Josh the anchor installer foreman about the paneling I had not been able to remove without damage.  Josh could saw it out, but with damage to the paneling. But he was able to use a box cutter to remove a section of paneling with no damage. That was very helpful to me.  Digging the five holes was tough going, since the clay had dried out over the two months of very little rain.  It took most of the day to get the holes dug and the anchors installed.  It was dirtier work than I had expected and the basement carpet ended up with dark stains that we are still working on cleaning up.  Also I was left with a quite a bit of concrete in small pieces and dust, requiring a shop vacuum to remove. I was pleased that it was not necessary to remove any carpeting or any of the plasterboard from the ceiling to complete the work.

  • After investigating the floor cracks, the associate explained to me what had probably happened and actually recommended  a way that i could fix it myself to save money.  I really appreciated his honesty and I will definitely call on Innovative Basement Systems if I ever have any basement sealing needs.

  • The work is promised for 7/25/2013. Basement Repair Specialties gave us a bid on inserting iron I-beams and building up the grade on two sides of our house. Installation of I-beams promised to be more invasive to our finished basement than desirable and we opted to go with a different provider for the basement stabilization, but have signed an agreement to have this provider bring up the grade and install a new windowwell. Don was friendly and informative of exactly he would do if we hired him.

  • We wanted a quote on getting the whole basement done and they would only quote us the stages. The quote for the first stage which was just simply putting up drywall and putting up some basic electrical stuff was more than what other people were quoting to do the whole job. Their whole quote to do the full job I wouldn't have had any clue. For the first stage, they told us about $15,000 and I got the whole basement done for less than $15,000 so we stopped right there.
They were super nice. They were very professional. They clearly knew what they were doing. They were considerate. I think that they probably cater to a higher end clientele. They clearly work for a different level of clientele. They were super easy to work with that is for sure.

  • Don had a clear pricing structure for his services, brought sample materials and photos to our initial meeting, and fulling explained what he planed to do. Each day his crew came into my home, did their work, and cleaned up at the end of each day. I was able to go into the basement each night and take photos of the progress. They competed the job within the time frame I was told. I was and continue to be pleased with the quality of his work. Recently I noticed a few new cracks. Don came by the next day, which was a Saturday, to take a look, and assured me that they are not a problem. He is a friendly guy, who has a great work ethic.

  • They have redone the whole down stairs of our house. They repaired the mess that was left by Delta Design. They have done an outstanding job. They always return your phone calls. The work is 100 percent opposite from what I had from the other company. They take care of minor details. They sand down a door to fix a leak. They will show you if something is wrong. They will literally take it apart and show you if you want. E A Anderson have done an excellent job. They are fairly new. They are a couple of brothers. They rebuilt it again. They leveled some floors, put in some insulation, remodeled the kitchen and everything else. I will continue to use them.
