  • Took car in for a thermostat - car was TOTALED! Over $2700 in body damage! I left my car with Earl's Repair the morning of May 21 and was told it would be ready that afternoon. At approximately 5:15p, however, I got a call from Reed (Earl's son) telling me I could NOT get my car today. He stated some sort of 'fan switch' problem was found right at the end of the day and the guy who found this problem has left. Reed said they'd call me 'right away' in the morning.

    I heard nothing until 11:02a May 22, when I received a call from Reed who stated simply "you can come get your car". I asked what came of the 'fan switch problem' , to which he reponded 'fan switch? Oh...yeah...everythings fine - you can come get your car.' I arrived within 40 minutes.
     
    First thing: my son dropped me off, pulling up behind my car, which to my surprise was parked OFF OF Earl's property, on the street across from his shop. I walked into the office and paid my bill in full ($125). THEN, as I turned to leave the office, I saw the side of my car - and IT WAS BASHED IN!

    The side mirror glass was off and lying there smashed in the street. I turned right around and brought out Earl. The first thing he said was 'you brought it in that way, right?' to which I said "NO!' and showed him the smashed mirror glass debris. Next, Earl tried to say it was a sideswipe from an 'unknown driver' on the street. No, the impact points confirm it was NOT a sideswipe. So next, Earl said it must have been backed into by one of the customers.

    The Sheriff's Deputy arrived. Reed told the Deputy that my car was fine when HE parked it on the street at 11:00a right before he called me, so Earl provided the name of a customer who left the shop between 11:00a-11:40a in case they backed into my car. Nope, there was no damage to that customer's car. But Earl told me (when he called me one WEEK later), he was mowing lawn in front of his building around 10:15a and saw the car DAMAGED at that time. It must be noted that Earl did NOT correct Reed's statement to the deputy that it was 'fine' at 11:00a, but instead merely proceeded to determine names of customers who left between 11:00-11:40a. WHY wouldn't Earl set the Deputy straight when he KNEW my car was damaged at 10:15a? Uh huh.

    I told Earl I was searching for used parts to bring the cost of repair down to avoid a claim to insurance but that didn't matter. And because I shared my story with documentation, Earl had his attorney write me a threatening letter. Since that intimidation didn't work, Earl called the Sheriff's department on me on July 31. The deputy said there was nothing they could do to get me to stop sharing my personal story because I am protected by the 1st Amendment since everything I've said was true.  Go to  www.carynweber.com to see the documents. A SALVAGE TITLE haunts my car now and will make it nearly impossible for me to sell. PLUS I will have to pay HUNDREDS MORE THAN EARL to fix the damage incurred in his care.

  • Good experience overall. I like dealing with Earl directly and he takes the time to explain what they are doing and give you a detailed estimate before proceeding. Since my last visit the transmission has started to leak again so I set up an appointment to have it checked out. We will see how it works out...

  • I requested an "informal" estimate for some auto repairs. The prices seem better than other auto repair facilities in the area. I was not given a printed or written estimate, I had to write down the info as he looked it up on the computer. He did mention that he didn't have a specific warranty limit on repairs and would fix any problems if they occurred.
