Exterior Contractor reviews in Bismarck

All the staff is really friendly, efficient, courteous. Everything that they moved to paint the house, they did put everything pack. Left nothing behind, no trash etc. I was given the extra paint that they didn't use. I highly recommend them for any of your painting needs.

Worst paint job I have ever seen. He didnt strip the varnish and painted over it. You can scratch your finger nail across the cabinet and scratch the paint right off. He left drip marks hanging from the drawers from where they were sitting on th floor. He painted over big chunks of dirt from work from other contractors. We had to strip, sand and repaint the cabinet bases and put new new doors and drawer fronts on. He didn't even start until my new flooring and countertops were put in and he got paint splattered every where. My contractor and I both have had to shell out way more money to fix what he messed up. I dont normally give reviews but I am telling everyone I can not to hire him so they dont have to go through the pain I went through. He has a picture of my kitchen on his website that I did not give him permission to take and put on there. Pictures can not do justice to what the cabinets actually looked like in person.

Chris was immediately responsive to my call for an estimate to paint our house exterior. He addressed our concerns, had paint swatches on hand and was able to give a cost estimate as well as written one on the spot. (was not my experience with previous estimates from others) We felt confident in his expertise and we accepted his business estimate immediately. Work was started within 2 days as he pressure washed the house the day prior to painting which not something the others even mentioned doing first so I was happy to hear he was. I was not home when the house was finished so when I pulled into the yard that evening I was jaw dropped amazed and couldn't believe that was my house. It looked great!! The job was completed in a timely manner (even with a few days of rainy weather he finished it on the weekend) and Chris was neat, no mess and a very hard worker.

We are very pleased with Chris and his professionalism and expertise and would be our first call for any future needs and would not hesitate to recommend him for his services.

Contractor started work a little more than a month after the contract was signed. Contractor did not show up when scheduled, and did not make contact when needing to change the schedule. Contractor installed doors incorrectly, and even after issues were identified by the city inspector, contractor would not make contact to correct issues. Multiple attempts to contact contractor (via email, text, phone, and certified letter) received no response. Entry stair and deck work was never started, and contractor abandoned job. Contractor also did not return the deposit provided when asked, even though the only item purchased was the sliding glass door. Bad installation of doors cost upwards of an additional $4000 to correct. Complaints are pending with several state agencies.

When we first contacted them they were here the same day giving us an estimate. They set a time for installation to be by December. December came and went. We looked at the contract and noted it said February. So we waited until February. It came and went. We contacted them and they said they were backed up and had sent out letters. Funny, we never got one. We kept calling them and they kept changing the dates on us. I finally told them I was going to cancel the contract and they were in breach since it was already spring and still no new windows or siding. We wanted it installed before it got too hot to see if it would help with the cooling bill. They then set a definite time and finally came out after I threatened to cancel. They finally came over to do the windows. It took a couple of weeks. One of the screens didn't fit and it took them over a month to get the new screen and only have I kept calling them. They would keep telling me somehow it hadn't been ordered  yet. They were supposed to do the siding right after the windows but that took about a month. They didn't put the gutter spouts back on when they were finished...we had to call them to come and do that. Unfortunately we had already hired them to do the fascia and I don't see that going very well either. We haven't heard from them since last summer. Who knows if they will get around to it this summer.

When we first booked a quote with ABC Seamless, the sales person quoted us an August start date, possibly September. We got a letter in October explaining that they'd had some staffing shortages and would be able to start our project in the next month or so. In December, 8 weeks or so later, I got a call that they'd start the next day. The window guys were very nice, professional, and did a good job, with one exception: They ran out of weather-seal while finishing the last basement window. They did tell us that they would order the weather stripping and be back next week sometime to install it. Well, months went by and there was never any weather stripping installed. A few weeks later, I realized there was a hole in one of the screens they installed. I called up to the billing office and the Bismarck office to let them know about the weather-seal and the hole in the screen. "Okay, I'll let the guys know," was always the response I got. ABC's motto is you don't pay for it until it's done.....well, I started getting bills for the windows with finance charges on them, even though the work wasn't done. The billing office promptly removed the finance charges when I called them, but I still got a bill monthly in the mail. Finally, in mid August, yes, 9 months later, they came and installed the weather stripping and replaced the screen. There are also a few moveable screens that don't move or stay where they should, that I didn't discover until later, but I'm debating if it's even worth the headache to get that fixed.
The siding experience wasn't much different. It took they guys three weeks, sometimes only working 3-4 hours a day, to get my siding done. The bill was in my mailbox 5 days before they finished the project, also annoying. I am still picking up little pieces of cut siding around my yard. Overall, my house looks great, but I don't know if the headache was worth it.

They were hired to put gutters on our garage and fix two gutters on the house. Took forever. Missed the entire rain season that spring and summer so it sort of defeated the purpose that year. Didn't install the gutters on the garage quite as they promised. Used different, less sturdy support materials and when confronted about it they said they were the same price anyway. Completely failed to fix the gutters on the house. They sent us an invoice and i refused to pay until they finished the project. They eventually called wondering where their money was and I advised them again they forgot parts of the project. Several months of empty promises later they finally arrived to fix the other gutter. But the day they came they didnt take two seconds to look at the work order and instead of fixing a gutter on one side of the house, they installed a completely unnecessary piece of gutter and downspout on the opposite side of the house. Not only was this unnecessary, it has caused us new problems as they installed it so horribly it is causing water to divert towards our house in that spot.

Insanely expensive for mediocre work that took forever to finish and left us with new problems to deal with on our own. I would never hire them again.

All and all it went very well, the cleanup was quite good and there were NO paint messes anywhere to clean up. We have a old home built in 1919 so the stucco is a very deep stucco and not easy to paint. What I didn't like about the whole process is if you know it's going to require 2 coats why is everything bid as 1 coat?

The purchase went very smoothly.  It was originally scheduled to be delivered and set up on May 23rd.  I received an automated call the evening before letting me know that the delivery would be between 10:45 and 12:45.  I left work and was home by about 10:40.  And I waited.  And I waited.  Sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 I received a couple of calls.  One was automated the other from a person letting me know that they would not be able to deliver the machine that day.  I was, i think, quite understanding until I was told that the machine was not in the shipment that was received that morning.  So the delivery could not be made because they didn't have the machine.  I should have been called right away in the morning letting me know that it was not shipped and could not be delivered. I was ticked off and told the person that maybe I should be reimbursed for the wages that I lost while I am sitting there waiting for a machine that could not be delivered..  We finally agreed on 50,000 rewards points ($50.) which can be used at either KMart or Sears.  I was still not happy with the situation but at least I was compensated for my lost time.  The machine was delivered on 6/4/14.  The delivery men were very nice, cleaned up after themselves even took their shoes off when they were in the house.  Overall I am pleased with this transaction.

Another installer showed up three months after the contracted date.  Todays Homework hired a private individual to perform the work they contracted to do.
That person worked two months by himself to complete the job. His performance was ok, but could have been better. I think the winter cold was detrimental to his performance.
Needless to say I wanted the job done, but I contracted with Todays Homework, nobody else.  If they couldn't do the job they should have returned my deposit.
Not a good experience.  Would not hire this contractor again!
