    Hutch's Dr. Energy Saver
    Insulation to help reduce noise from wine bar to upstairs apartments. Months later a leak in the ceiling downstairs showed the entire attic was not insulated. Attempt to contact owner both by phone and mail was unsuccessful. The salesman responded to the call and letter. He was extremely nasty. Never did hear from Hutch, the owner. We lost both tenants in the apartments, never received the energy rebate or reduced utility bills as promised in addition to losing both upstairs tenants.

    The job went very well with zero problems. They initially came out to review the proposed design and provide a quote. We modified the design slightly and agreed upon a price. They made a 2nd visit to go over the final design and make sure all details were understood. Then work began, and they did everything exactly according to what was previously agreed upon. There was not one point of confusion or disagreement anywhere during the entire process. In the end, the product was great. Outstanding quality and attention to detail. I would recommend Porch Conversion to anyone without hesitation.

    Southern Exposure Sunrooms
    Tom with southern exposures was the most unresponsive person in trying to get a timeframe established. He was prompt in contacting us for the work and sending me the contract, but once they cashed my deposit, it was extremely difficult in getting a timeframe for which the work would start. I have several emails from me and from my tenant asking for timelines. The only time I was able to get a response was when I called their office (again) and Tom happened to be there at that moment, so receptionist gave him the phone to speak with me. At that time I was told it would be started that week and finished; however, it was another 3 weeks before the job was finished. Once again, I couldn't get a straight answer from Tom, so we had to go to the mason who was contracted to do the work. Once we started communicating with the mason, the work started rolling. I would have preferred to use him vs. going through southern. Three other items that really irked me is that I signed a contract and sent with the deposit, but they never signed and sent back. Once the job was finished, my tenant said no-one from Southern came by to inspect the job. Finally, the minute they finished the work, they blew up my phone and email for payment. I received an invoice the following Monday in which I mailed a check for the full amount to them the following Thursday (less than a week). Basically they wanted a response right away once the work was completed. Never again will I use these people just because their follow-up is so poor.

    We went to this contractor for ideas and a quote. The salesman was very good and the showroom looked great. However, the salesman did not communicate the initial appointment for the home visit and quote, so we were stood up and had to reschedule. The person we talked to apologized and rescheduled a second appointment. No one showed up for that one either. Poor communication and failing to show up when promised is a huge red flag for a contractor. There are plenty of sunroom contractors in the area, so we will pursue another one. We assigned a grade of D to reflect this experience and because we don't know the quality of the work when performed.

    The workers Kenny came at 8 and they worked all day putting the windows and frames in. The work was very tedious and it was completed by 4. He explained how the Windows worked and how the screens were placed. Thanks also Alex for all the information and keeping us a priority. Great job done

    The guys arrived early on a Tuesday (around 7:30) to begin the 3 day process. They matched the color of our home (dark brown) exactly.  Clayton and ? (sorry forgot his name) were both great at getting the job down and keeping us informed of the process. The room looks exactly what we visioned. Highly recommend PorchConversions!

    Blaine Construction of the Carolinas
    Below is the letter I have forwarded to Mr. Childers.  I sent this by email, text and certified mail.  He has yet to open the email as I sent it receipt requested.
    September 12, 2015
    Dear Mr. Childers,
    With this letter, I am hereby giving official notice that you have breached our contract and that your services are no longer required for the following reasons:
    1. You have been completely unresponsive to many email, phone and text queries regarding the days you will or will not be on the job site.
    2.  This was supposed to be a full time effort, not part time.  Job began late July.  It is now 6 weeks to complete a small
    bathroom.  Should have been done in less than 3 days.
    3. You show up at all hours, without notice. 
    4. You walk in my home without announcing your arrival. You leave without telling me, leaving my doors unlocked.
    5. You don?t show up when you say you will be here.  You always have excuses about how busy you are.
    6. You sent your 78 year old father to do ¾ of the work. I did not hire him to do this job, I hired you.
    7. You started the job and worked sporadically and then disappeared for weeks, many times telling me you would be here and then, didn?t show up.
    8. The quality of the work ( half completed) is questionable at best:. Below is a sampling of what is at the heart of the issue:
    A ? Outlets and light switch not up to code.  You left the wire connecting the light fixture exposed and unattached?.a complete fire hazard let alone code violation.  
    B ? Electric to the jetted tub is inoperative ? plug to tub was left bent as though someone ripped it out....another hazard.
    C ? Faucets to the tub are installed backward and not completed.
    D ? Shower door was left partially installed and dangerously unstable.  You did not reinsert the rubber seals.  If I knocked into it and it fell, the glass shattering on the tile would have been not only a hazard but a mess.
    E ? Chair railing corners were mitered incorrectly?shoddy work.  Even with putty, they are not the sign of a quality craftsman.
    F ? Unnecessary holes were drilled in joists, rendering it potentially unstable. Granted, your father reinforced it, but shoddy workmanship nonetheless.
    G ? The ?return? on the narrow shelf above the chair railing was incorrectly cut, appearing awkward.
    H ? PVC drainage-piping under the sink is not the correct type.
    I ? No GFI receptacle was installed at the sink; not in compliance with applicable code.

    9.   The job is clearly not completed.  You left with no indication of return date, even after I asked you clearly to talk to me before leaving the house.
    Yet to be completed:
    A ? Lighting & electric
    B ? Plumbing: shower hook-ups & hardware to be installed, sink must be attached.
    C ? Electrical to tub must be connected with working plug.
    D ? Faucets on tub are not installed correctly.  Must be fixed.
    E ? The glass shower surround must be installed correctly.
    F ? The bathroom ceiling fan must be installed.
    G ? The light over the sink is not connected; glass shade missing?.I assume that you broke it. There is no
    electric connected  to the light currently.  Must be hooked up.
    H ? The room was not painted.  The ceiling, walls and bead board all must be sanded, primed and painted.  
    I will not be forwarding any additional funds as I have already paid way more than your services warranted.  I have hired a new contractor and if I need to pay them additional funds beyond your quote, I will send you an invoice. 
    You have treated me and my husband with total disrespect.  Your work has been shoddy.  Your business ethics are questionable.  I am disappointed and frustrated.  Sending your father to bail you out because you are over your head is unconscionable. You should be ashamed.

    They did an excellent job in each and every area.  The closet looks amazing and we could not be happier.  The best part of hiring this company is that they are trustworthy.  I would feel comfortable paying them the entire amount of the job with not a second thought that they would return and complete it.  This is very, very hard to find in our area or any area for that matter.  There is integrity here that is priceless.
    We would definitely hire this company to do any project for us.

    Right form the beginning, Porch Conversion came out and provided us a reasonable quote for converting our large screened in Florida Room to a 3 season room with sliding insulated glass windows (with screens) including a knee wall and electrical outlets.
    We were provided a written quote on the spot and within a few days after signing the contract provided detailed work plans for us  to submit to our HOA.   We scheduled the install and Porch Conversion completed the conversion in only 2 days.
    The workers were very professional, cleaned up at the end of the day and were very courteous.
    Customer service followed up with phones and email to assure we were happy with the results.
    We are thrilled with the results!   We look forward to enjoying our converted Florida Room.

    This company was great to work with. With the estimate, we were given a timeline of 7-8 weeks before the prefabricated materials would be available. They beat that timeline by several weeks! All construction was complete within a week once they began. Very tidy and neat at the end of the day. The porch looks like it was built at the same time as the house. Would certainly use them again.
