    Marr, Dr. Albert W
I was not given all of the information needed for a layman. When I asked if my toe would be straight, he said , "Yes." After being on crutches for 2 weeks he asked me why I didn't have a boot. I told him they gave me crutches. He said, and I quote, "They should have known better, even if I didn't note it." Then he showed me my x-ray and as I looked at it, I said, "I have a metal plate in my foot?" He told me that I did. No one ever told me that nor did they tell me I would never be able to bend my toe again. At that point, he said, "Well, we didn't do well by you!". I then asked him to tell me why my toe was not straight like he had told me it would be. He said , without looking at my foot, "Well it looks straight on the x-ray." I asked him to look at my foot with my toe bent to the right, pushing all of my other toes to the right. He didn't look. I said, "DR., look at my foot, does that look straight?!!" He said , "I see." I asked, What can we do?" He said , "You can have more surgery." I said, "Who will pay for that?," and he replied, "Well not me!" The End. Do not use this man. Below is a picture of my left foot, which by coincidence looked like my right foot. The second picture is what my right foot looks like now. I am uncomfortable everyday and my toes are moving to the right more and more each day. Thank you Dr. Marr for doing a lousy job and then shrugging it off.

Have yet to have my actual replacement done because of the lack of communication between office departments as well as poor communication with me.  Very frustrated that I am in great pain and in need of surgery and still have been unable to get the office to schedule my surgery.

It was not a good experience at all. It was just horrible and insane. I was trying to get a second opinion of my ankle, I had a problem, and they wanted to see the information that I had gotten from the first orthopedic I had look at my ankle, and they wanted the x-rays and this and that, and I’m, like, why? You know, I’m trying to get a second opinion. It’s like cheating on a test. So, I did not care for them at all. And then I guess the guy in the office was waiting for the report from my other orthopedist and he never got it and he never told he hadn’t got it. He didn’t follow through; he dropped the ball. And I had to leave the town and I wanted my disks, my reports, the copy of my x-rays back and they couldn’t find it. I had to go back later and pick it up. It was a nightmare. The office environment is good. They didn’t have any bedside manners. I was in excruciating pain and they’re like, well, we don’t have an appointment for two weeks. Okay, but what if I was missing my foot, would you see me then, you know, I don’t know.

Infection not diagnosed in a timely manner. Long waiting time for all services. Access to surgeon difficult after surgery performed and assessment left to PA's which in this case impeded diagnosis and a severe infection occurred requiring extended antibiotic therapy still ongoing. PT therapy sessions worthless due to swelling from infection.

I'm use to the injections for the most part. Three on each side of the lumbar area of my spine. The objective of this of course is pain management and to keep me from having back surgery as long as possible. The doctor is excellent in what he does and explains what he's doing.

I had an x-ray on my initial visit in May and a consult with a PA, who was very friendly and went over the x-ray with me. Unfortunately, I needed an MRI for a definitive diagnosis, so went to the Shipyard Boulevard office a few days later for that. By this time, the pain had subsided quite a bit, but I felt I needed to know what was going on, since it had bothered me for a long time and I'd had a day of extreme pain. About a week after the MRI, I had a consult with the ankle specialist, who was also friendly and ensured all my questions were answered. He gave me a diagnosis along with advice on avoiding and controlling pain. All the staff were very professional and friendly. The offices are clean and spacious and I didn't wait long for my appointments, something I really value.

All went well, they gave me a brace, never told me how much it would be. Got their bill after insurance paid their share. A brace (2 pieces of plastic and some Velcro) that cost them $12 (I know that for a fact!), they charged me $125! I'd say that is a little excessive. I have not paid the bill yet (insurance paid $65 which they should be happy to get), and if they ask me to pay the bill, we will have to negotiate

    Carter, Dr. Michael D.
Dr. Carter did rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder. Before surgery he took time to fully explain what the procedure entailed and  afterwards exactly what he had done. Prior to the operation he thought there was only one bad tear, but found four more, less serious ones during surgery. All were repaired and his post-surgery care was excellent.

My orthopedic doctor's office is part of a whole community of various doctors at Wilmington Health Associates. What stands out mostly is that nothing really stands out in a negative sense. The doctor was very punctual, very professional, met my needs, he told me what he thought was wrong, and what I could do to help it with physical therapy but not necessarily what would cure it.

A Dr. Bahner was assigned to my grandmother when admitted to Cape Fear Hospital after she injured her knee. He had some sort of argument with my Uncle that was trying to get help for my grandmother. I was not there personally for this altercation however, I did attend the follow-up visit . My grandmother never saw Dr. Bahner at any of her follow-up visits until I went with her and requested that he actually see her. There were 4 casts put on her and removed at 2-4 week intervals prior to this final visit and even when she requested to see him, she was told he was unavailable and the P.A. would have to do.
I asked my grandmother why she had not seen him and she said and quot;He isn't going to take care of me because he got mad at your uncle when I was first hurt and he's not going to ever help me anymoreand quot;. I assured her that even if my uncle had made him mad, he would treat her fine and ignore the previous altercation because he must adhere to the hypocratic oath and treat her justly. I Stand Corrected!

When he finally came to her room, he entered by bellowing out and quot; Why if it isn't Maggie Bell!and quot; She has never gone by 'Maggie' and his tone and demeanor were condescending and arrogant to say the least. He then looked at my Aunt and said and quot; You are gonna be just like your brother aren't you?and quot; My Aunt had said nothing and then when she replied that she was not like my uncle, Dr. Bahner began to talk over my aunt and grandmother and started telling his assessment of my grandmother's healing. Then he asked I go to the car to get a stabilizer we had to see if it would work for my grandmother and when I returned, he had gone and would not return for further questions. The tone and demeanor of this physician were beyond unacceptable. He may know medicine but should never be allowed to see patients. With the attitude and actions I witnessed, this physician should be put behind a desk so that he might deal with other physicians who might be able to correct his attitude. No patient - especially a 99-year-old one - should ever have to deal with this doctor. Please do not see him. ANY other orthopedist would be better!
