  • Have yet to have my actual replacement done because of the lack of communication between office departments as well as poor communication with me.  Very frustrated that I am in great pain and in need of surgery and still have been unable to get the office to schedule my surgery.

  • Infection not diagnosed in a timely manner. Long waiting time for all services. Access to surgeon difficult after surgery performed and assessment left to PA's which in this case impeded diagnosis and a severe infection occurred requiring extended antibiotic therapy still ongoing. PT therapy sessions worthless due to swelling from infection.

  • I had an x-ray on my initial visit in May and a consult with a PA, who was very friendly and went over the x-ray with me. Unfortunately, I needed an MRI for a definitive diagnosis, so went to the Shipyard Boulevard office a few days later for that. By this time, the pain had subsided quite a bit, but I felt I needed to know what was going on, since it had bothered me for a long time and I'd had a day of extreme pain. About a week after the MRI, I had a consult with the ankle specialist, who was also friendly and ensured all my questions were answered. He gave me a diagnosis along with advice on avoiding and controlling pain. All the staff were very professional and friendly. The offices are clean and spacious and I didn't wait long for my appointments, something I really value.

  • All went well, they gave me a brace, never told me how much it would be. Got their bill after insurance paid their share. A brace (2 pieces of plastic and some Velcro) that cost them $12 (I know that for a fact!), they charged me $125! I'd say that is a little excessive. I have not paid the bill yet (insurance paid $65 which they should be happy to get), and if they ask me to pay the bill, we will have to negotiate

  • Dr. Carter did rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder. Before surgery he took time to fully explain what the procedure entailed and  afterwards exactly what he had done. Prior to the operation he thought there was only one bad tear, but found four more, less serious ones during surgery. All were repaired and his post-surgery care was excellent.

  • Dr. Jack Bowling was very personable, very communicative which is rare in doctors, he did not rush us even though he had many people waiting. Every body in his waiting room had a book or something to entertain themselves and I thought it would take us 4 hours to see him, but they all know that when he is meeting a new patient he does a thorough intake and doesn't take 3 minutes. He is worth waiting for, none of them were upset and were waiting. I asked him questions, he didn't rush me, it was an amazing experience, he is smart, he is knowledgeable and he answered all my questions. When I told him that my other doctor has been limping along for 4 or 5 years saying to me that I can wait to do the knee surgery because I may have to repeat it, so I had been saying that I want to wait although it was affecting my back, so the Dr. Bowling said that he knew of my previous doctor and he likes dealing with older patients who need replacing and fixing knees and joints. He told me that my previous doctor would not mind me switching to him. He is very ethical and very professional and he is the head of orthopedics so he is very experienced. The only thing is that his timing can be off by 2-3 hours so if you think your appointment is at 1pm then you should know it is not. If you have to take off work and get an hour for lunch only then he is not the guy for you.

  • Dr. Hocker practices in Atlantic Orthopedics. I had a knee surgery sometime ago. Unless I have a problem I don't go to see him on a routine basis. I have recommended him to other people and everybody's been very satisfied with his orthopedic surgeries. He's a specialist in corrective measures after people have had problems with surgery. I went to him because my primary care physician recommended him to me. I've seen him two or three times and he gave me good advice. He's very professional.

  • I have used them for quite some time. I went to see the doctor there after my wife had her surgery. The same doctor operated on my back. The staff, surroundings, attitude, treatment, and availability were outstanding. I have referred people to them on a number of occasions. I have had two surgeries there; my wife has had one.

  • It was a terrible experience. My primary care physician recommended that I see an orthopedist because of problems with my left hand. I had gone through physical therapy for a year prior and we had gotten as far as we could. The therapist had reached the end of what he could do and advised me to see my doctor to see if there was more that they could prescribe. The doctor at Atlantic insisted that I needed to get a cortisone shot. When he put the shot in, I knew immediately it was a problem and I tried to get him to stop. I now have a second place where my vein is way above where it should be. I can watch it every time my pulse pulses and it hurts. It was like he put a bit of air there and it stayed there. It didn't kill me but it sure hurts. My primary care doctor said that I was better off standing it than trying to go through with what I would have to do trying to fix it. I will not ever use them again.

  • He is the best orthopedic man in town. I like his professionalism; he is very thorough and very honest. If a problem is taken care of and if he thinks nothing can relieve the cause, he will do something about it. He is very punctual. I rate him highly. My husband will continue to use him in the future.
