Car Inspection reviews in Wilmington

  • I did not go well.
First, I was forced to take the car back to the garage after the first repair ($600) because of a faulty repair to the clutch pedal.
Then, a week after the first repair, the clutch completely stopped working and I had to have to car towed back to the shop where the problem was diagnosed as having to replace the clutch, starter and flywheel which cost an additional $1000. Since this happened on a weekend and the garage has no weekend hours, I was forced to get a rental car which cost me $125,
The next day while trying to start the car, the starter made a grinding sound, to which I had to return the car to the shop again along with the recommendation from another mechanic to check a strange sound coming from the clutch pedal which might be associated with the linkage.
At this point, they said everything was ok with the clutch, however they replaced the starter.
Yesterday (Friday) the starter began having the same issues and it's now the fourth of July weekend and I have no confidence taking my vehicle anywhere for fear of breaking down and getting another tow.
I called the shop and am taking the vehicle in again on Monday to have it looked at.
I'm ready to cut my losses and take it elsewhere, except that if the flywheel is bad it may be under warranty

  • Charles performed the state inspection quickly while I waited. He repaired my license plate light bulbs for free. I have spent a lot of money at Coastal for my two cars and 2 of my daughters cars which are older. Charles NEVER puts parts on that aren't needed.
he is a rare breed of mechanic - honest, hard working, very understanding. A handshake with Charles is a contract.
I would recommend him to anyone

  • Check engine lite no longer lit. Runs fine now.
I have had my cars serviced by him for over twenty years. He does a tremendous business with locals and UNC-Students
He is not the cheapest but stands beside his work and can fix the problem promptly and keeps you informed.

  • Went smoothly, went in for inspection and routine service, water pump recommended as it had not been replaced (car had 145,000 miles on it).  I agreed and gave them the ok.
Car was ready that afternoon and I picked.  The State of NC had already been notified that inspection was complete, I renewed my registration and everything fine.
Am taking same car back this month for inspection and probably a timing belt.  Have full confidence in this shop and would recommend.

  • Ted's Exxon are one of the very few true gas service stations operating in Wilmington that still do car repairs. We've been going to Ted's Exxon for 15 years. They are very trustworthy, most of the guys that work there know me by name, and pretty much take care of us. If there ever is a problem that I've notice that has been repaired all I had to do is make a phone call. If it was something I wasn't sure about whether the car would get back or not he'd come tow it at no expense and the same thing with any follow up work. Once it got there he would do whatever was necessary to check it out and tell me what was wrong. That has only happened one time.

  • I have been doing business with Jeff shortly after my beginning driving days, 1971. When I first started the business was owned by his father; Fountire Tire Service and remember commercials Service is our last name, buy our first consideration.Although the name now Jeff Fountain Tire Sales and Service, the old cliche remains in 2012 and there is no one in Wilmington I trust my car with including discount stores, dealerships since. Jeff retains a work history on your vehicle for new car warranty requirements, gives a fair price on tires and does a rotation and balance and quot;if neededand quot; every 5,000 miles giving you the best tread life on the investment.
When ever a service such as brakes is needed have 110% faith in the recommendation the service is needed now or can wait possibly another 5,000 miles. I not only trust Jeff Fountain Tire Sales and Service, but now another generation of my family doing business at Jeff's.
Whether you come in with an appointment or have an emergency they bend over backwards you can bet your bottom dollar that you will be treated professionally and fairly. I highly recommend Jeff Fountain Tire Sales and Service to take care of your automotive needs, if there's a service they recommend you where to take your vehicle with out getting ripped off.
Thanks Jeff, for the great name you have had a great crew keeping your name on positive in this world we live in where all is driven by the almighty dollar.

  • I have been going to Jiffy Lube for many years to have my car inspected. The wait times are not too bad, and the wait area is adequate, though rather small. There are glass walls which enable you to see what's going on in the workshop. Bathrooms are clean. Free coffee. Vending machines, plenty of magazines. They are able to fix many inspection items on the spot for a reasonable price, so you don't have to leave and come back for re-inspection.

  • Inspected the car to see what the problem was and fixed it quickly. We have used this Advanced Automotive for several years and have always been pleased. Very seldom have we not kept with him. HE IS VERY, VERY HONEST.

  • We dropped our vehicle off without an appointment on a Monday morning and spoke to the manager. Great guy, very friendly. Told him that we needed a vehicle inspection to renew our registration, and he told us that they could service the request in less than 30 minutes. There were a significant amount of vehicles there before us that had been dropped off, with appointments...and he took ours in, in front of theirs. What a great business this is! Very honest and trustworthy, we will have our next service done here.
