    RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS CONSTR CO
We were referred to him by Angie’s list. They do a real good job and made everything tip top. He was a real good fellow and did good to work with as far as getting the payments done. He did all around a great job. I have no complaints about his wok. He went around the house after taking their stuff. They didn’t litter around the house and cleaned up. He removed all the nails so we didn’t have to worry about flat tires.

    David Rawls Construction
On April 6, 20011 I was given a Proposal by Rawls Construction of 5,575.00 which would cover the removal of two layers of old shingle roofing and disposal of it and placement of a new shingle roofing in that area; and adding of a Rubber roof to a 16 X 24 flat roof area; which on this proposal stated it did not include replacement of any (OSB) which would then be a extra cost of $2.13 per sq foot; Mr. Rawls requested half of the payment before starting the job and the balance at the end of the job; saying that he would start the first of the week. I gave Mr. Rawls $3,000 on April 6, 2011 and did not hear from Mr. Rawls for three weeks; so I called him; he was in South Carolina on vacation; saying that he will start the job, again at the first of the week.   The first of the week came and went and I didn't hear from Mr. Rawls, then Tuesday came and still no Mr. Rawls; then on Wednesday at 11:15 AM a white Van came rolling in our driveway; it was Mr. Rawls who came with two very young men who climbed up on the flat area of the roof and started removing shingles; then around 2: PM I noticed I didn't hear any noise and when I looked for them the Van and the men were gone. The next day around 11:AM the Van was back with the same group of people.  They then took o ff the rest of the shingles on the flat roof area and then started pulling off the wood which they filled into a pick-up truck; they covered the open hole in my house with a blue tarp and they left around 3:pm with the full truck; I'm guessing they took to the dump.   On Friday around 11: pm, Mr. Rawls came knocking on my door asking me to come out side. He explained that in stead of the rubber roofing that he could easily put a pitch of that flat roof area and that it would not cost any different than the rubber roofing. Since he was the professional I asked what he thought would be best and he said doing making the pitch; I then repeated to him that the cost would be the same and the rubber roof and he said yes. I then agreed to do it with the pitch on the roof. That weekend it rained and the roof area leaked; I called Mr. Rawls and told him it was leaking and he said he would be there. I did not hear from them again until May 12th at around 11:pm when Mr. Rawls came knocking on the door asking me for $1,295.04 more for the OSB. which we had agreed to in the beginning; I gave him cash and he gave me a paid receipt.    It took Mr. Rawls from May 12th, 2011 to June 3rd 2011 to cut and place the rafters and place the OSB in place and to remove all the shingles from the rest of the roof; on June 3rd, 2011 Mr. Rawls knocked on the door again and handed me a bill for $1,334.91 saying it was for the rafters he built; he told me he needed the money now. I told him he had to wait until my husband saw this and Mr. Rawls got up-set because it was nearing 2: pm and that was the time he liked to leave. When my husband came home, he called Mr. Rawls into the house and asked he to explain what he wanted this $1,33491 and he kept going us a song and dance and was not explaining anything to us. We said to him all we owe you is the balance at the end of the job of $2,575.00; keep in mind this man still has not purchased one shingle for our house; so there was no supplies sitting in our yard. He was buying little by little as we paid him; that first $3,000.00 we gave him; we think was long gone on a three week vacation he took; we think he was trying to find ways to over charge us so that he could get enough money to pay his men and buy supplies to the job.   We explained, that he said, that there was not going to be any different in the price to pitch the roof then if we used the rubber roofing; he told us the price would be the same. He lied right in our faces and said oh no that we had 22 rafters and we had to pay his man $45.00 for each rafter that was cut and $10.00 per sq foot for placing them and so on. Well at this point we are sitting there with no shingles on our roof and no shingles sitting in out yard and all we were holding of his money was $2,575.00 and that wouldn't even be enough to buy the shingles let alone have someone put them on; so we felt he had us at gun point; so to speak; so we gave him the extra money.   It took Rawls Construction from April 6th, 2011 to June 3rd, 2011 to Remove all shingles; place rafters over a 16 X 24 area; place OSB over that 16 X 24 area; and to tar paper everything.  He worked two days out of a week for about 3 to 4 hours each of those days.   Then my house sat with nothing but tar paper on it from June 3rd to June 8th; then Rawls Construction call another Contractor who came in and put on all the shingles from the 9th and 10th. Then Rawls Construction came to collect the last of the payment of $2,575.00; when he got here he tried to tell my husband that we needed to give him another $1,400.00 because he had to buy more shingles than he had expected to buy. This company was less than honest! They came in with a low Estimate of $5,575.00 plus the $1,295.00 OSB wood then later making alteration to the original plan leading us to believe; no not leading us to believe; they out and out LIED that there would be no extra charge in the bill.
