Structural Engineering reviews in Waxhaw

From Kathleen in the office (my first point of contact), to the structural engineer, Daniel, I was more than impressed!! Daniel was able to answer all my questions and followed that with an in depth report. He spent 3-4 hours going over my house from the attic to the crawl space. And actually ended up charging me less than the price I was quoted. I hope to sell my house soon and I will definitely be using IDE to look over any future home I consider buying.

Falcone Crawl Space & Structural Repair
Falcone came out, looked at the scope of the job and had an estimate to us by the end of the day.  The crew came out at the scheduled time and tackled the work aggressively.  They did an outstanding job of getting our crawlspace completely cleaned out and installed the vapor barrier.  Over-engineered is what I call their approach.   That barrier isn't going anywhere.  It's outstanding.  They installed the new insulation quickly and were on their way.  Very nice bunch of people from the office personnel to the guys that put in the work at our house.  I highly recommend Falcone for this work.

    Yates Structural Engineering
Wynn was absolutely amazing.  He is a Rock Star of structural engineers, and I would recommend him to anyone who needs a true expert.  He did not just use mathematical formulas to make a decision.  He was up on ladders, taking pictures, measuring actual deflection of the trusses and so forth.  The recorded everything he saw with pictures and audio to remind himself of exactly what he took the picture of & provided a detailed report that left the other engineer with no room to argue.  It was fantastic to witness.
He completely proved the builders engineer wrong; and showed exactly why & what was out of compliance with building code.  The builder's engineer tried to get out of it the cheaper way, and not do as much work as Wynn recommended, and ended up having to redo it all the way Wynn stated in the report.  This was due to the way Wynn examined the ACTUAL construction, and not just what was in the computer.
It ended up that the trusses that were called for in the blueprints were actually manufactured incorrectly.  So without physically inspecting the trusses themselves, there was no way to understand the TRUTH behind why the floor was sloping under zero load.
To add icing to the cake, he inspected more than what he was hired for, and also found another problem with my house that was completely missed by the builder and the county inspector!

I had a contractor make repairs to my house just as report detailed. Spent approximately $8000.00 in making repairs. Two years after everything was done I had Shield Engineering come back out to my house as I noticed issues were coming back. They didn't care to help me any further with my issues.
I brought in another engineer recently, and got a very comprehensive report. Unfortunately, I am having to spend in excess of $30,000 to make the necessary repairs. I just hate that I have already spent $8000-9000 on this project at the expense of Shield Engineering.
Current contractors I have brought in have all been in unison agreement that Shield Engineering report looks to have been incomplete, and totally inaccurate. (I gave current contractors copies of both engineering reports)

He was wonderful! He gave me all of the recommendations of everything I needed to do and referred companies. He continued to answer emails even after he sent the report out for any additional questions we had.  We really liked him!

    Yates Structural Engineering
Mr. Yates was referenced by a contractor to ensure the structural integrity if more load is added to a balcony. (The plan was to add a concrete layer to the balcony floor.) He came up with an analysis/report and we were charged $850. We were shocked with that price. But we were told that his hourly rate was $85 and he had to spend quite a few hours with the report. Then we started the work as per her his instructions. The plan is that Mr. Yates would periodically visit the work site to make sure the contractor is doing the right thing OR follow his report. re wouldn't be any structural issues

    Yates Structural Engineering
Wynn did an outstanding job determining the specific problems and assisted me with getting an estimate from a licensed structural contractor.  I was then able to use that information to negotiate an offsetting reduction on the price of the home from the seller, as he provided a detailed report of the issues with the information necessary to prove my case. Throughout the process, Wynn was timely and responsive.  He understood that time was of the essence due to the timeline of our negotiations & closing...and even worked through a weekend to deliver his findings promptly. After we closed, I hired Wynn to design the appropriate repairs and inspect the work done by our contractor to resolve the issues.  He was an outstanding advocate for us and we are now certain that the problems with our new home are resolved permanently. Although it may seem at first glance that we paid a lot for his was worth every penny.  It was a complex set of problems and required several visits to the home to diagnose, design a solution and inspect the work.  I believe his pricing is competitive for the value received and therefore rated it an "A". I highly recommend Wynn's services to any homeowner who has a significant structural issue.

    Criterium Simpson Engineers, Inc.
Critterion uncovered a major structural flaw that would have cost $30,000 to repair. Critterion helped us to make the difficult decision to not purchase this home since the structural flaw was serious in nature. They also were timely and extremely responsive throughout the purchase of our second home. Highly recommend.

    Yates Structural Engineering
Wynn came out and reviewed 2 vertical web truss that builder had snapped and replaced with sister-boards and hadn't installed nail grips. Also had a minor crack in a diagonal board that he designed repair for.
