    Carolina Home Remodeling
The gutters were too small and the gutter protection improperly installed. A number of corrections were made over many months at our insistence. Finally we contacted Angie's List and reported the continuing problems. At that point Carolina Home Remodeling contacted us and agreed to replace the installed gutter/protection with proper gutters and gutter protection. Unfortunately, the gutters do not withstand snow, ice, and heavy rain. The company has acknowledged that according to our contract they will correct any problems due to snow, ice, or rain. The company did replace the gutter system again in 2014 due to damage from snow and ice. This year we have again experienced gutter problems due to snow and ice. We have contacted the company and they have agreed to come examine the gutter system. Perhaps a better gutter/protection system needs to be installed to withstand inclement weather.

He provided quotes and recommended how to insulate how to insulate above garage as well as improve ventilation for improved summer cooling.  Attic above garage was not insulated.  Also checked insulation above south side of house, where bedrooms do not cool efficiently.

Apollo Energy Savers & Handyman Services
He knew the area and he was punctual.  Basically, he doesn?t sell normal insulation, He sells a radiant energy barrier which is a very strong type of foil with slits in it for moisture to escape that comes in a roll.  He told us that we could put this foil in and that it would do a better job than regular insulation.  It was fairly expensive so we wanted to find out more about it.  I asked him all about it and he explained that you can use it by itself without traditional insulation. His explanation was that you use this foil product in place of standard insulation. That you do not put it under the roof rafters as that will cause your shingles to overheat and maybe even melt. He said that was the reason you see some houses with stains on the roof. He went on to explain that you only install this on the floor of the attic and no other insulation is necessary.
I did research on-line and found out that it is not meant to be used by itself. I found that it is not recommended to install this product on the floor of an attic in colder climates due to condensation freezing on the product during the cold nights and then thawing out during the daytime which would cause it to drip down into what ever is under it, such as existing insulation, sheet rock (which is your ceiling) and the wooden ceiling joists.  The U.S. Energy department government website indicated that you should not do that.  Even on the Apollo website there is a video that says this is not meant to be a replacement for regular insulation
He said he could do the garage for $2,357.00 and the whole house for $5,400.00
I'm certainly not any kind of expert on this kind of thing so that's why I have a membership with Angie's List. If the Apollo company or any of Angie's members want the links to my findings I will be glad to send you what I found. If I misunderstood the Apollo Rep then I am open to discussing my findings with them and will correct any thing in this review that is incorrect.

Contacting this organization is a bit nebulous. Their phone system isn't rocket surgery, but it takes some getting used to. Mike (whom I am guessing is the residential project engineer) is a very busy man, but very friendly. Once you're finally able to get his ear, he seems to follow through quite nicely. Sonya (Sonja...forgive me. I don't know how she spells it) was very helpful also. The work itself was very painless, almost non-descript except for the results. Eduardo and Ricky were friendly, hard working, and very respectful, real likable guys. Overall, considering I know virtually nothing about insulation, I'd say they hit a four-bagger on this one. Great job.
