    Consumer Electronic Service
He showed up right on time and took less than an hour. He got right to work, removed the back and did his testing to find the bad port. He removed it and put in a new one. Even helped me clean out all the accumulated dust inside. Put the tv back where it was. Never could tell he was here. Did an excellent job -- clearly new what he was doing and was very pleasant and carried on a conversation while he worked.

My inquiries with the watch servicer/jeweler was very attentive, professional and above all very frank & informative. His general advice after an extended and patient discussion: Don't do any service or cleaning for now. He described any symptoms that may occur, indicating a likely problem(s) that may require the watch to be serviced or possibly replaced, contingent on the price. Since he owns the same Seiko model, I'm strongly inclined to accept his advice. In any event, when I return in the future with concerns about my watch, as to whether it can be repaired, serviced or cleaned, I'll almost certainly get the work accomplished at Johnson's Jewelers of Cary. That, or purchase a new watch from them. Why? Because of the patient and frank opinions of the jeweler. Literally a Cary business jewel. Outstanding.

    Culligan Water of The Triangle
The technician Josh called and gave me a two-hour window of time when he would be over to replace our filters. He called again to say he was running a little late and would be there in 15 minutes. I thanked him for his phone call. He was there in 15 minutes. He did a terrific job. He explained what he was doing and was courteous and professional.

    Pittsboro Bicycles
Pittsboro NC is a bicycle friendly community which has been, until recently, devoid of a local shop.  Until May 2014, Pittsboro bicyclists were limited to shops in Chapel Hill, some 12 miles north of Pittsboro.  I was really glad to see a small hand lettered sign out front of the Chatham Mills Co-op, pointing the way to Pittsboro Bicycles, located in a small workspace "around back" of the Co-op.  Following the sign around the Chatham Mills building, I found Pittsboro Bicycles set in behind the building, across from some old storage barns.
The shop is new, but well appointed, with a good number of high quality bicycles mounted in a very attractive and professional looking array.  What looks to be a well stocked workshop is set up behind the counter as well.  The proprietor, Eddie, is a Chapel Hill/Pittsboro local, having worked with bike shops in the area for some years.  He is quite professional and personable, passing a quick ten minute chat while he touched up a few things on my bike (and showed me how to inflate my fancy-pants inner tubes, which I'd forgotten).
I prefer to shop local whenever possible, and to benefit a local store owner even more.  I was very impressed with the quality of service I received as well as the person from whom I received it.  We need more stores like this in Pittsboro: locally owned, serving a local community, and providing a service which will benefit the community even more.  Eddie's manner and bearing reflected well on his shop and bodes well for future work I'll have done here.  He obviously knows his bicycles, and I was even pleased to see he's conversant in unicycles as well.
If you ride a bike or need work done on yours, bring it here.  You won't be sorry.

    Ed's Gun Shop
Ed immediately jumped on it, did all the paper work and official things they are supposed to do via email.  They were prompt and competent.  They only charged me shipping.  I never had a problem.  They are a local gun shop.  Ed has always been incredibly helpful and courteous.  It is just amazing.

    Bowen Classic Arms Corporation
They were amazing.  Last week a pistol trigger had gone light when I had worked on it and it turned out that I had put too much oil in it and it was my fault and they fixed it.  They are not charging me for having cleaned my pistol up after I stupidly gulped it out.  They are charging me shipping and that is it.  When I called them a week later, the man that worked on it told me what he did, what the problem was, what I shouldn’t been doing and that it is on the way back.  I took it to the local gun shop, paid them for shipping and nothing else.  You can call them and talk to them and they are friendly, professional, and courteous.  It is amazing because it is a very small business.  I had been to their shop once and they do create beautiful work of art.  Bowen’s are all functional works of art that are beautiful.  They can connect you with people that make grips that are works of art too, not the engraved ones but like exquisite pieces of wood.  I am so impressed with them that it is amazing.

    Brown's Clock Shop
Mr. Brown arrived early for my appointment, and determined rather quickly that my empire grandfather clock had stopped due to a gear that had worn out. He advised me of several choices, and that it would require the clock being brought into his shop for repair. Estimated cost of repair was between $700-$800, which I thought was excessive.
He didn't explain the amount of time it would take to take apart the clock to substantiate this cost.
I told him that I wanted to wait, and he oiled my clock, and told me to let me know what I wanted to do. The clock did start, and at this time is still running.

I don't like the phone side of  Time Warner because it has too many problems and the cost keeps on going up and up and they keep adding services without asking if we want it or not, my phone has been out over the last two weeks, I am just not happy with the company. I had to have the service guy come out 3 times before they solved the problem and you get into the mail box loop but your problem doesn't fit anywhere and you just keep on going round and round with their TV service. They guys who come have been very good when they get here.

We've had them for probably 6 years and they're very responsive. Anytime we've had a modem problem they always send somebody out very timely and if we have a problem with the receiver they're very easy to work with to switch out for a new one or go to their local office or they'll send someone out. Their price was better than the other options. We will continue to use them if they are available in the areas that we are living in.
