    Triangle Classic Homes Inc
Carl and Ralph are great guys to work wit and lots of fun. They have assembled a quality group of sub contractors and trades who have worked with Triangle Classic for years. The crews get in and get the job done which enabled Carl to get the house done a week earlier than the projected finish time! Carl was very responsive to any calls or questions during the build and even after we moved in. My only issue was that we did not have a detailed discussion about specific things and the standards we wanted in some big ticket items (HVAC, fireplace, windows) so our final cost was higher than the projected bid.

We absolutely love our new custom home built by Stanton Homes. It all started with Elizabeth Martinez, our pre-contract sales consultant. Elizabeth worked with us during our lot search, as well as our house plan search before we settled on a final plan. She then worked with us on some custom modifications to suit our specific wants and needs. Then we met with Andrea Enns, our interior designer. Andrea was a pleasure to work with and we are so happy she brought her energy and creativity to our home. She took time to understand our intended style and provided many great ideas and suggestions that made it into our home. We are particularly happy with the batt-and-board accent wall she designed for our great room. Kelly McNabb, production manager, ran an effective plan review prior to breaking ground and throughout the project took the time to answer the many questions we had. She was always honest and transparent. All of these ladies were truly wonderful to work with. Now we get to our project manager, Spencer Travars. We cannot say enough great things about Spencer. Spencer truly partnered with us on our build - we felt that he was always focusing on quality and the details. He was very encouraging and solicitous of comments and punch items throughout the build, while keeping us updated on the progress the team was making. This helped us feel confident that at each stage of the build, quality was their focus. During framing he was particularly careful around our fireplace framing, building it up with the in-house crew. He also came out on a Sunday to reinstall some framing support that had fallen and was causing us some concern. Spencer is a great project manager and we are pleased to know he will be looking out for us post-build as well! Thank you again, to the entire team. We wouldnt have our beautiful new home without you.

We met with Carl from Triangle Classic Homes and from the estimate to the completed project the workmanship, communication, timeliness, and commitment to quality was consistently outstanding. The subcontractors that Triangle Classic Homes coordinates/schedules to complete each phase of the project were polite, hardworking, detailed-oriented and committed to quality workmanship. The garage was finished on schedule and far exceeded our highest expectations and looks like it was built when the house was originally constructed. We highly recommend Triangle Classic Homes, and will look no further the next time we have a home improvement project.

Agonizing - inept junior brother assigned as project manager vs. owner who promised he would personally project manage our build; brother didn't show up at project on a regular basis; many of their sub-contractors/finishers were inferior; if we hadn't upgraded everything, the house would have been a cheap spec home at "custom" home prices; low grade products used including very cheap paint; wood left out in the rain so installed warped 2x4's in the walls and warped doors & frames; in-house handyman made a mess whenever he came to "fix" something creating additional items that needed repair; punch list was massive; ended up having to to hire an attorney. Be sure to get your refundable construction bond back - a fabricated charge was added to our invoice to cover the construction bond which they received it back from our community, said they never charged us. Recommendation - stay away from this builder.

    The Tuscan Group, Inc.
Avoid using this builder. They are building a house on the lot next door to us, and they clear cut all the trees right up to our property line. This is a neighborhood of lots 3 to 9 acres in size, everyone that moves out here has a certain expectation of privacy. In addition to clear cutting trees up to our property line, they are putting the house practically back to back with our house. Which is ridiculous when they have 8 acres of land and we have 4 acres of land, that they houses would be placed that close together. It's not consistent with the rest of the neighborhood, where houses are centered on the lots and are evenly spaced apart. Now, after living in our home for over 8 years, we are faced with having another house practically on top of ours with no tree buffer in between.

When my husband and I, and our neighbors on the other side of the lot, met with the Tuscan builder, he looked at us blankly when we explained our concerns. His response? "It's not my problem, I don't have to live here." It is his responsibility to advise his clients on the house placement, something he is obviously not planning to do. The effect that this will have on our property value is no small matter, when we will be the only ones in the neighborhood with another house so close, making it the least desirable house in the neighborhood.

Clearly not a builder looking out for the welfare of his customers or thinking about the integrity of the neighborhoods he is building in.

Bud Matthews Service & Building Co Inc
We had a long list of items that needed to be done. This included removing a built in book case, installing some new cabinets, tile work around new cabinets and tub, installing new plugs and switch plates, building shelves in closets, building a workbench from the old bathroom vanities, installed kayak hoists, installing ceiling fans, removing doors and patching the door frames, installing french doors and pocket doors. When a shower enclosure didn't fit, they contacted the vendor and made arrangements for it to be returned. They were willing to tackle any request. All was done in professional manner with careful attention to details and making sure it was done to our satisfaction. I would hire them again and recommend to others.

    Target Building Solutions LLC
From beginning to end, Mike Wall and his company saw the entire project through. The building site required clearing of trees and some surface preparation, all of which he took care of. I showed him only a rough design and he converted my ideas into reality. Throughout the process, he made constructive suggestions for changes/modifications/enhancements almost all of which proved to be useful and led to a better final outcome. He did all the sub-contracting from the foundation through the finishing touches. Mike was always ready to get my input into details of how the project was to be done, but, where I didn't have specifics in mind, he went ahead and made decisions for me, all of which turned out to be right. I was particularly impressed with his attention to details of construction that would enhance the esthetics--such as exposed wooden support beams (including two faux-beams on either end of the house for esthetic purposes and the addition of wood trim inside and out, cantilevering of the deck so that the support posts were not visible, etc.  He noticed that there were piles of stones lying around from an old stone fence, and he had the idea of using them to cover the exposed concrete blocks of the foundation, which greatly added to the beauty of the cabin. Although the costs ended up being about $20,000 above original estimates, the overruns were almost all related to additions or improvements we agreed on. Throughout the project, Mike was thoroughly "hands-on", spending many hours at the work site and even doing some of the finishing touches himself. He was always available but never intrusive.

    Colima Custom Homes
I had a hard time finding a contractor that would call me back. When I called Kendall at Colima Custom Homes, he came right out and started the estimate process the next day. He built us a beautiful patio with sitting walls and an outdoor fireplace. The guys at Colima were great. They showed up when they said they were going to, and called if there were any changes. They stuck to the schedule and finished the work as planned, on time and within budget. I give Colima an A++.

Horrible experience. He has been shut down by the state. He steals from clients. I would never recommend him to anyone. He subcontracted all his work out. The subcontractors did good work but he took from us. When it was time for the elevator to arrive he had left and we had to find someone else to finish the work.

    Stanton Homes
Our experience with Stanton Homes has been a very positive one, and we are pleased with our custom-built home.  Our journey
with Stanton Homes began with a simple phone call to inquire about the possibilities of building our retirement home in the Triangle area.  Jim Hunt was most helpful in providing information to novices in the custom-build process. We were living in Texas at the time, so many phone calls were necessary for us to consider the possibility that we could afford what we wanted.  We were able to talk with Jim personally and get a view of Stanton construction first hand on a trip to the area.  We were impressed with the quality of
construction, but still spent a great deal of time looking at preowned homes and spec houses before we decided to build. Once we decided to build with Stanton Homes, Jim and his team worked hard revising estimates for us so that we would have a minimal amount of unexpected expense once construction commenced. Our home design was a plan we found on-line and then modified a good bit to fit our needs.

One service we found invaluable was Stanton Homes helping us find a suitable site for our home.  We built a basement home
which requires special terrain for a full walk-out basement.  Stan Williams, the owner, personally investigated possible sites and made recommendations to us keeping in mind our financial limitations and our personal needs.  We knew from the personal interaction with Stan that he was dedicated to providing an up-front and honest service to his clients. Indeed, it should be noted that Stan is hands-on and was involved throughout the construction of our house.

Once we made the decision to move forward on building, the work really began.  One of the first things we had to do after signing the contract was to meet with Andrea Enns on a visit from Texas for a whirlwind selection of finishes.  Our minds were spinning, but Andrea kept us on track and helped us make our decorating dollar stretch.  After all was done, Andrea was very patient with us as we communicated via phone and e-mail our concerns and changes to selections.

Once ground was broken, our project manager Phil Travers, was kind enough to send us pictures to show that, indeed, the process had begun.    We were able to make our final move to North Carolina shortly after that and were present for the actual construction of the home.  We visited the site almost daily and can say that Phil is probably one of the hardest working and most pleasant young men around.  His work ethic is impeccable. We had a chance to meet with many of the subcontractors and were impressed with
the professionalism of most of them. Darwin, one of Stan?s in-house workers, was on site often working diligently on precise finishing touches.

The whole process was not without hiccups and there were times we were frustrated by delays, errors, and lack of communication.
Some of these issues were unavoidable. Others were open to improvement. Once any problems were identified, however, no one ever made excuses and things were always corrected to meet or exceed the original standard.  In the end, Stanton Homes provided us with a well-built home that met our specifications at a fair price.  We are now enjoying our new home and are thankful that we have such a beautiful, quality-built space that fits us.
