We got three estimates for replacing our deck. Alan was the only one to recommend extending it and making the layout more user friendly. You can see the pride in his work when he shows photos of past jobs and the price was very reasonable. His team was extremely professional and cleaned up every day. Alan is not the most tech-savvy person - he is a craftsman, so you work around that. We absolutely love our deck and would not hesitate to recommend Alan to anyone. Before, during, and after photos are attached. Even now, 5 years later - we absolutely LOVE it. The composite is easy maintenance & no more splinters!

Overall it went well. I wish more stain types were discussed. I just got the deck re-stained again and wish I had known we used a Solid stain originally. If its new wood never been painted before then you don't have to use solid paint, could go with semi-transparent. Also between deck wood original wood was still exposed so you could see the color difference between the wood. I believe it was person's first time doing it. This is was done little over two years now.

M&M Landscaping & Outdoor Living Designs
The following is a list of issues that I had with M&M Landscaping & Outdoor Living Designs, LLC when I used this company to build a pergola. When M&M Landscaping originally built my pergola they did not provide the same quality materials and craftsmanship that was used to build the pergola of my friend, a previous client of M&M, that was used as a reference. During the original quoting process I told them I wanted exactly what my friends had built (style, materials and craftsmanship) which they didn't do. I hired them based on their recommendation and the work that I personally saw done at my friend's home. From the initial build a large amount of the cross strips were split at the ends from the fasteners being improperly installed. Also, the cross strips were installed in 3 sections where the final section was only about 6" long making it look sloppy and less secure. The main support beam has a huge ridge (defect) that spans its entire length of the board. It's not a structural defect but it is unsightly and should have not been used in such a prominent visual location. In general the quality of the wood was poor, everyone of the 6x6 columns has cracks/splits. The center rafter does not line up with the center column which is a very obvious and unsightly mistake. I was not informed that my concrete patio slab would be altered during the installation. M&M Landscaping destroyed my patio where they cut into it to install the post (columns). Mike Iannacci, the owner of M&M Landscaping, promised that the new concert would blend right in and wouldn't be noticeable. This was not true, the concrete work looks amateur at best and doesn't blend in at all, yet another unsightly part the of the installation. My rain gutter downspout had to be redirected because of installation and M&M Landscaping used materials that caused the gutter to back up and leak and when they repaired it they used parts that didn't match my original gutters. In terms of customer service, Mike Iannacci the owner of M&M Landscaping started out fine. Face to face he seemed personable and even acted like he cared and understood my personal issues with being a quadriplegic and my recovery. M&M Landscaping was recommended by my good friends, so all things considered, I gave them a certain level of trust that I probably shouldn't have. As the process went on, I began to notice that when I brought up issues Mr Iannacci would explain the problems away with excuses and if they did actually come to fix the issue I had to send several reminders/request. This last request to repair all the split and detaching wood went on for 10 months. I sent Mr Iannacci multiple emails about this, the majority of which went unanswered. He claimed he did not receive my emails but it was apparent after our disagreement, about who was responsible for the cost of these repairs, that was not true because he showed me old emails to defend his case for payment. Mr Iannacci was simply making excuses for not responding. Furthermore, he tried to intimidate me with threats of putting a lien on my home, saying he would do what he had to do to get his money, etc. His overall tone was threatening and unprofessional. All that being said I still paid for the repairs because after reading over the old emails I didn't make it clear that I thought Mr Iannacci agreed to take responsibility for the poor materials and installation and do the repairs for free. Over the last 10 months I've sent so many emails and have had discussions with other contractors about the situation (who all thought M&M Landscaping should take care of the repairs), in the process I neglected to clearly communicate my change of heart about paying for the repairs, that I previously asked Mr Iannacci the owner of M&M Landscaping to quote. Again, I've paid the invoice in full but I feel it's my duty to inform people of the issues I encountered with Mike Iannacci and M&M Landscaping & Outdoor Living Designs, LLC.

It went well. They were great. They took care of the permits and did everything. I didn't want regular wood as my spindles, they put in really cool iron ones that I liked. It was not simply a basic deck, but customized to what I wanted.

    American Decking Co LLC
Greg was excellent to work with.  He provided us an up front estimate on the cost and completed the job in a timely manner.  He has a real eye for detail and added some much appreciated finishing touches to the rebuilt deck, making it very enjoyable!  He arranged for all materials to be delivered and got right to work, demolishiung the old worn out structure and working to rebuild it as soon as possible (weather permitting).  He made a few suggestions for changes along the way and we were grateful for his attention to detail and extra effort.  We are so pleased with our new deck and now know how to take care of it for many years to come!

    American Decking Co LLC
We cannot say enough about our experience with American Decking Co. Greg came out and gave us an estimate on removing and replacing our old deck. From the first meeting with him, he has been on time, professional, upfront and honest. He did not push for some fancier product or way of doing things to increase his profits. Instead, he provided us with several options and several price points to decide from.

One of the deck staining companies we spoke with even made a comment to us about how we made a good choice in going with American Decking Co. because ?Greg uses good wood.?  We were really glad to hear other companies giving approval on his work.

Greg was consistently keeping us informed on the progress, answered all of our questions (even if in the middle of working on something), was extremely knowledgeable about what would look good and what was needed to ensure everything was updated and within ?code.?  It was obvious that he did not take any shortcuts and we were amazed at how badly constructed the original deck was compared to having a quality job done.

The ONLY complaint we could ever have (and actually it should be Greg complaining) was that WE picked the WORST time to try to have anything done outdoors. Thanks to the " MONSOON" season we have had this summer, Greg had to work around rain almost every day. He worked every day as much as he could (including a Saturday and Sunday) to get our deck completed. He even apologized for the project taking longer than he had first planned. With all the rain we had, he was even out the morning of inspection bailing water out of holes so the inspector could see the footings and give his approval.

Not only would we would hire American Decking Co. to do any other work around our home, we would not hesitate to refer him to anyone in need of deck repair or rebuild.

He provided written information via email and always provided answers to any of our questions.

We requested an estimate from Decks Unlimited regarding a deck replacement. We will not be utilizing their services at this time; however, wanted to leave a review.

I am extremely pleased with the job that James Drummond and his workers and sub-contractors. Our roof looks great. The deck looks really good. The siding looks good. The gutters are looking good. The air conditioner's combs are straighter.

James came by himself to pick up loose nails that the roofing crew might have missed. He made sure he was here to meet with the insurance adjusters.

Thank you to James Drummond and his great crew of workers.

    Sincerely,

    Joan Y. Edwards

I think it's a good company and Eric, the owner, was responsive to my needs and got things done. The project ended up getting drawn out, as the deck canopy went over the driveway, so they needed an architect's letter to approve the project. It's not necessarily a negative, but it took from May to August to get done. I think the letter had to be done. All in all, the experience was positive.
